Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
Bad Orange Man will be blamed for everything for the next 4 years...regardless of what it is. In this case, even if you are so stupid to believe it, how is Trump to blame for everything that has happened since about April or May? Everyone, by that time, knew the true nature of the China virus, how it spread, how potentially lethal it is. Anyone affected by the virus since then have only themselves, and/or local Dem politicians, to blame. Pelosi and the Dems have done nothing...less than nothing, actually, as they purposely tried to help the virus spread in hopes of wrecking Trump's re-election bid. But, one cannot truly blame them...because! again, everyone knew how to protect yourself, what to do, what not to do.
The party animals down the street have had two more gatherings this week. About a dozen or so on Thanksgiving Day, and a like number, slightly different folks, yesterday for some kind of football-watching, cookout. BTW, last year at this time they were HUGE LSU fans! Flying LSU flags, wearing puke purple/vomit yellow garb. This year they all seem to be Bama fans...imagine that. :icon_roll:
Anyway, none of that bunch, a group that includes close to 35-40 people all told, have contracted the China virus. They have had gatherings, no masks, eating from the same chip bowl and sharing other food, hugging on each other...yet, not a single one of them has gotten the virus, that they know of. Could be the whole bunch is infected, but are all asymptomatic. They laugh and scoff at those of us who wear masks. Saw a couple of our "neighbors" in town yesterday, they were maskless as usual, and made a remark about my granddaughter wearing a mask, who is 5.
Another BTW...earlier this week, I learned that wearing a mask is racist! We were going into the local Super One store and there was an older white woman, an employee, handing out masks to those not wearing one, saying you have to have a mask to enter the store. A black woman, late 20's, went ballistic. She yelled at the woman, "you are saying that because I'm black. Well, go "f--k yourself, you white bitch." The black woman pushed past a black male store employee who was trying to hand her a mask and pleading with her to take it. The black rebellious woman did take the mask, then promptly threw it on the floor. About 10 minutes later Natchitoches Police confronted the woman and asked her to leave the premises...OMG! it really hit the fan then. She did end up leaving the store. When we left, after shopping, about 20 minutes later, she was standing near the police cars...3 of them...and having a "discussion" with the officers. She was very animated....
I will say that generally speaking, blacks do a very good job of wearing masks. At least that's been my observation. Better than most whites, actually. But not that woman at the store!

I see hundreds of these types in stores and on the streets.
If only Bad Orange Man had not hidden the dangers.
What should we do?

The same thing we should have done back in April. If you are susceptible to death from or of China Virus, STAY HOME!
Punishing the healthy to protect those in danger is a ridiculous approach and especially when the rules don't apply or aren't enforced at large retail stores.

Right, right. You say you see hundreds of susceptible people out and about, though. Not staying at home at all.
What should we do?

Nothing can or will be done.

Correct -
It's up to individuals to make the right decisions - you can't delegate smarts or common sense
As you know, we had it in our household and it knocked me for a loop and my wife is a front line medical worker (NP) who has dealt with it since day one - but there are only so many bullets you can dodge until it gets you regardless of how careful you are or how careful you think you are being -
Lock downs are not the answer -
The simple answer is wash your damn hands, don't touch your face and for God's sake STAY HOME IF YOU HAVE A COUGH/SNEEZE/WHEEZE - more than likely its not sinus, its the virus and you will definitely know in two or three days
Masks are good to an extent if used properly in the correct sittings but they are far from fool proof and in the end improper use may cause more long-term lung damage than the virus itself
I've changed my mind about the vaccine after having it - I would take it tomorrow if available
And don't give me the asymptomatic mumbo jumbo - very very very little of the transmittal is by asymptomatic individuals - the communal spread is by the self-diagnosed "sinus suffers" in most cases
Live your life, mask up properly in public settings and wash your damn hands every chance you get
And long live steroids!

Leadership goes a long way. People with boots on the ground get it. Community leaders get it.
We need a that mess

age from the top. Of the chain.
And God bless those health care workers right now.

I'm a Parish Administrator - basically the top appointed official in the Parish
You can only put out viable, good information to your citizenry - it's up to the citizenry to do what's right
Much like a horse that you can lead to water - you can't make that horse drink regardless of what measures you take
I will say it again - the ONUS is on the individuals within the community
You can not legislate common sense
And folks its just not the bubbas that are anti-mask - we have a major issue with our younger minorities who refuse to wear masks and absolutely REFUSE to social distance at any point

Yeah, but you weren’t the one that turned wearing masks into a political statement, making people want to resist the public health effort. And although we on BB&B follow you, you don’t enjoy the same largest megaphone in the world as the one that made mask-refusing an identity politics badge.

You think these people not wearing masks or wearing them improperly are following an example set by Trump? Idiots like your hero mayor of Austin are the ones showing the real lack of leadership. He is one of many Socialist leaders setting bad examples

Not my hero and they deserve criticism, too.
There is no doubt that many folks have not been wearing masks because they were proud to stand for Trump (along with his family and other Republican leaders). If Trump would have been an advocate and leader for masks like Biden, far more people would be wearing it. You cannot really deny this fact.

That’s your Trump hate speaking your opinion not a fact. Your people are the followers not Trump supporters. If conservatives don’t mask up I assure you it had NOTHING to do with what Trump did or said. Lower yourself to go check out a local Walmart or Super One if you want to see who is not masking or distancing.

I shop with the Trumpers at WalMart instead of the liberals at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. Trumpers are the problem here.
