The clean bill was offered to the dems. They want chain migration and other STUPID crap they know their own constituents don't want. They wanted to kill it so they could blame Trump.

3.6M 'DREAMERS' IN USA
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...re/1042134001/
Have you ever watched how a bill becomes a law?
It doesn't happen by taking a position that you want exactly what you demand or you won't negotiate. A clean bill is what the dems want. Trump wants safeguards to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. I bet Trump offered a path to citizenship in the meeting, so Durbin was forced to run to the Trump hating media with a story about how Trump is a racist to stop the deal.
It makes no sense to attack the negotiator with claims of racism if you are really interested in getting a deal done. Durbin is full of %$#@ and you know it. He effectively shut down all negotiations.
When they start deporting, I hope he is pleased with himself.
You are doing a good Hannity impression. The sequence of events has been reported.
He was immediately corrected about what he said. Video proof:

Then the WH later clarified what he meant “a clean DACA bill” in Trump’s terms included border enforcement.
A clean DADA bill would be "all individuals under the DACA executive order will be deported immediately". That's clean.
Trump's big mistake was assuming the swamp was negotiating in good faith. He won't make that mistake again. In the mean time, DACA folks are screwed.
Good faith. Lol. Claiming that you would be willing to sign a clean bill and then later saying you interpret “clean bill” to mean the opposite - a bill containing two items - is a textbook example of negotiating in bad faith.
Thing is, I don’t think he meant to be in bad faith - he just didn’t know what a clean bill meant. Too busy talking and schmoozing and not thinking about what he is saying was his downfall in this “negotiation.”
Actually, it was both. If you watch the entire 55-minute segment closely, twice someone at the table said to connect a DACA resolution to border security (the wall), and both times Trump turned toward the speaker and nodded, once kind of mumbling "that." Trump himself made the connection between a two-part bill, and offered to sign it IF the wall was included, along with a DACA resolution. To anyone with even an ounce of sense, it was VERY clear what Trump determined to be a signable bill.
At some point one of the 'craps, Durbin, I think, expressed concern about getting enough money into the next fiscal budget to build the entire wall project and that if DACA was tied to that, either it wouldn't pass a general vote in Congress, or cause a budget crisis (as if the party that ruled over an $11 trillion increase in the debt....). That's when the discussion turned, briefly, to setting apart a vote on DACA by itself. By then Trump had already "checked out" of the meeting, as he had other matters to attend, and was trying to wrap it up. Of course, some misguided fools will attribute that to some personality disorder, but it's just typical of Type As who are always "on to the next" matter to be dealt with.
After the meeting, the 'craps tried to spin it as if Trump had suddenly, in the final few minutes, changed his mind and discarded the two-part plan "just because." That's how desperately stupid the 'craps and anti-Trumpers are. Trump is so far above them in management, leadership, cognitive-ability, intelligence, they can't keep up.
Which means that trump never indicated a true willingness to support a clean DACA bill - except for the moment he mistakenly said he did (not knowing what a “clean bill” really meant) and was immediately corrected by the Republican near him - and instead only ever agreed to support DACA tied to increased border security.
But Trump claims to support the cause of the Dreamers. If so, a clean DACA bill would be simple. But, no, Trump is okay using the Dreamers as pawns to deliver on his big election promise.
