I disagree. There is not and should not be a requirement for everyone to know what every phrase means to everybody. Don Lemon recently called someone a chickenhead-then said he doesn't know what that means. Apparently I didn't either. Apparently it's a sexually derogatory term to some people. Should he be fired?
It's not holding people accountable for what they say, it's holding people accountable for what you think they mean. BIG DIFFERENCE. The only way you can be confident in their meaning is if they have been more explicit previously and if that is the case you should hold them accountable for that. You also can't submit to others arbitrarily dictating the meaning of words. If a group starts using socialist as a code word for the national socialist workers party of old are we going to start attacking people who call themselves socialist or say they support socialist policies? What you are talking about is thought police.
If you think someone is dog whistling don't watch their show or don't vote for them. If enough people agree with you the problem will sort itself out.
It's troubling to me how intolerant people have become. I'd still like you to answer my question back to you though.
That is what I said.
Just another reason why good American folks and families are running away from disgusting liberal networks like CNN and NBC.

'Embarrassed for America'...
'I'm embarrassed for America': Puzzled viewers slam NBC for its 'train-wreck' New Year's Eve coverage after it failed to show the ball drop and aired Chrissy Teigen talking about 'vaginal steaming'Meanwhile over on CNN, hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper butted heads with Times Square security after event organizers told them that CNN would not be invited back next year if they didn't relinquish their umbrellas.
- Viewers slammed NBC for its live New Year's Eve coverage in New York's Times Square
- Angry viewers described it as a 'train-wreck' after the network failed to show the entire countdown and aired Chrissy Teigen talking about vaginal steaming
- Some called the network's coverage a 'complete disaster' and others suggested it was the 'worst New Year's Show ever'
- Many complained about NBC failing to broadcast a countdown clock or the ball drop in Time's Square
- Viewers also took aim at one of the hosts, Chrissy Teigen, after she briefly explained vaginal steaming
Viewers also took aim at one of the hosts, Chrissy Teigen, after she briefly explained vaginal steaming to co-host Carson Daly about 15 minutes before midnight.
The model shared photos on social media earlier this year of her carrying out the remedy, which is said to cleanse the vagina and help regulate menstruation and ease period cramping.
It involves sitting or squatting over a bowl of steaming, herb-infused water for between 20 and 60 minutes. The remedy, which surged in popularity after Gwyneth Paltrow promoted the benefits back in 2015, can cost roughly $75 per 30 minutes in some spas.
'Watching NBC with my 12 year old 20 min before the ball drops and Chrissy Teigen starts talking about vaginal steaming. Really?! The host of NYE... vaginal steaming? Come on... have a little CLASS. Too many families watching honey. Not cute,' a Twitter user said.

This is CNN? Primetime shows filled with liberal opinion, not straight news as network claims
CNN touts its primetime lineup as being straight, just-the-facts news, but anyone tuning in to the network’s evening programming can expect a heavy dose of liberal opinion, as “Anderson Cooper 360,” “CNN Tonight” and “Cuomo Prime Time” don't always align with founder Ted Turner's bare bones, objective approach to journalism.
"Anderson Cooper is a mix of news and opinion, but Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo are obviously heavy on opinion and use the news as a launching pad for those opinions," Cornell University Law Professor William Jacobson told Fox News. "There's nothing inherently wrong with that, so long as they are not mischaracterized as part of the news operation."
PRESSURE BUILDS ON CNN AS NAACP QUESTIONS NETWORK'S 'TROUBLING' LACK OF DIVERSITY
DePauw University professor and media critic Jeffrey McCall told Fox News that CNN’s primetime shows “are not straightforward news shows in the traditional sense of objective journalism,” pointing out that the opinions of the hosts are often very bluntly presented.“News consumers are increasingly suspicious of programs that blend news and opinion, and a news organization's failure to properly label contributes to the national decline in credibility from the public,” McCall said.
While MSNBC and Fox News are transparent about specific on-air personalities hosting opinion shows, CNN claims its evening lineup is filled with straight news anchors. And while CNN personalities often conflate the opinion and news divisions of other media outlets in order to point out a perceived bias, CNN characterizes all three of its primetime programs as “news” shows, according to the section of its website that labels other shows in an “interview and debate” category.

You would learn a thing or two by watching Cuomo. Skip on Lemon.
And now this one.Nicholas Sandmann and his parents have followed up their defamation lawsuit against the Washington Post with one filed Tuesday against CNN. Sandmann, you’ll recall, is one of the Covington High School students savaged by the left after attending this year’s March for Life in Washington. Can Sandmann prevail against the Cable News Network? Just as with the Washington Post, the answer is “yes.”
The suit charges that CNN “has maintained a well-known and easily documented biased agenda against President Trump and established a history of impugning individuals perceived to be supporters of the president.” This is significant, because his lawyers are alleging that CNN targeted Sandmann simply because he was “wearing a souvenir Make America Great Again cap.” For seven days in January, says the lawsuit, CNN “brought down the full force of its corporate power, influence, and wealth on Nicholas by falsely attacking, vilifying, and bullying him despite the fact that he was a minor child.”
CNN only reports the truth.
If he and they told the truth they might get called upon. The poor, poor liar.

CNN knows they could improve their ratings by filling their lineup with hack pundits like FauxNews and MSNBC. But they choose to emphasize news and discussion over spin and rebel rousing. If you need to be told what to think, CNN is not the best choice for your time.
I had SlingTV for a while and had CNN. I've cancelled it and I didn't watch it much, but the Cuomo Lemon combo was every bit as bad as most of the crap on Fox News. Though, for my money, Laura Ingram is about as bad as it gets.
Yes and no. I think the main problem is that there's little apparent difference between the news shows and the opinion shows. Anybody who's taken a freshmen level logic class can tell the difference between news and opinion. Sure, there is editorial stuff in headlines and deciding what "news" to highlight. CNN went the way of Fox because "news" doesn't sell. We want people to tell us what we already believed, so we eat these opinion shows up.
I think reading news is SO MUCH better because it's easier to decipher fact from opinion.
You could right books about the poor logic, leading language, and fallacious summaries employed by Hannity, Ingram, Lemon, and Cuomo.
It's Idocracy come to life.
I mentioned this somewhere else, but I feel like because of Fox, all of the "news" shows began to blur the lines between news and analysis and between analysis and opinion. Enough that I think people lump things in with the "news" that are clearly not news. Things like the view and Fox and Friends etc.
1. In my opinion, the news is purely factual. XYZ happened, police believe XYZ, XYZ has been accused of whatever.
2. When they start adding a slant to the story it becomes opinion to me.
3. When they start pushing an agenda it becomes propaganda.
4. When they start pushing speculation to push their agenda it becomes fake news.
Most of the "news" today is at least 2 if not 3. It's up to the reader (or viewer) to sift through the 2's and 3's to try to determine what the actual news is. Usually by visiting a few sites with opposing biases to try to sift through the BS.
I'm 59. In the early 80s when cable was just coming about and CNN was a real cable news source. CNN was actually considered as a right leaning news source because they dared to give some views from the right. In those days and before the ONLY source for conservative views were Paul Harvey or editorial print. There were ZERO conservative news sources from ABC, NBC, or CBS and people were hungry for something that did not lean left on EVERY issue.
I've always thought it was ironic that JFK is thought of as an honorable person and good president. He was anything but. Don't even get me started on LBJ.
I laid out the history of the decline in journalism in a post over a year ago. I don't remember what thread it was on.
In quick summary, like public education, the commies took over "news" organizations and pushed a leftist agenda. Entities like Rush, in 1988, and later FOX, in 1996, were a direct result of this extreme leftist shift and the market clamored for the truth. Since then the two sides have dug their heels in and are just taking sides, mostly. FOX is still the most balanced...by far! But, yes, they have their editorial shows like Hannity and Carlson.
Interesting. You think FACTS read on the above would cause a person to lean left or right?
You are getting objective and subjective confused. That may work for cooking, hunting, football, but not for basic laws of nature.
Example: Insurance is based on the law of large numbers. That is not up for debate, but those who lean left want to change the definitions to suit their cause. You might as well claim 2+2=5 and say your read it so it must be true.
I agree regarding some subjects, but you'll be hard pressed to find objective information regarding many of the subjects you listed above...ESPECIALLY in our public school systems.
Example: Sexual identity is no longer subjective, it is objective and if you disagree you lose your tax exempt status. Facts are facts, but it depends on your reading material and whether indoctrination (subjective) information is being used or objective information is being used.
Now back to media...FOX tends to give a more a conservative view of most topics. The others (ALL OF THEM) tend to lean left. Good luck finding reading material that will begin as objective.
I get all my news from Alex Jones.
I agree with this, unfortunately many if not most people do not read entire reports or articles anymore. We have become a society of headlines and 20-30 second sound bites. Newspapers and TV shows have learned this and use it to manipulate many who only look for those headlines and not details. News outlets shape the narrative they want you to walk away with. The facts can be there in the story, but they are buried and many don't take the time to read it. For example here are two sample headlines:
Trump saves little girls life
Trump kills family dog
Both of these "headlines" could report the exact same story and facts if you read it. But just reading the headlines you can walk away with two different perspectives. "News organizations" know this and use it to their advantage.
Think CNN will pick this apart?

CNN's prime-time ratings dropped a whopping 26 percent in April compared to last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.
MSNBC's ratings were down 14 percent in April 2019 compared to April 2018, while Fox News's ratings overall were flat.
The sharp decrease for CNN marked its lowest-rated month in total viewers since October 2015.
In the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that advertisers covet most, it was the network's least-watched month since Aug. 2015.
In prime time, Fox News finished first with an average of 2.4 million viewers. In April 2018, the network also averaged 2.4 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

Don Lemon tries to bait the Pastor's of the two Louisiana churches that were burned due to arson. Pastor's didn't take the bait.. didn't work out as Don and CNN had hoped.
quote:
Two pastors whose historically black churches were burned down spoke with CNN’s Don Lemon about Vice President Mike Pence’s Friday visit and the Trump administration’s response.
Rev. Gerald Toussaint of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Rev. Harry Richard of Greater Union Baptist Church both sat down with Lemon Friday night. Their churches were burned in hate-motivated arsons allegedly committed by the son of a local sheriff’s deputy.
Instead of being critical, the reverends praised both Pence and the administration’s response to the tragedy.quote:So Lemon tried to bait them:
“Today the vice president visited the site and your church,” Lemon said. “How do you feel about support you’ve received from the Trump White House?” “It’s satisfying and it’s uplifting,” Toussaint responded. While the pastor said they were “concerned” at first, he told Lemon they are “reassured right now because of the reaction that we’re getting, especially the visit of Vice President Mike Pence.” “I’m encouraged right now because of the reaction of the country,” he said. “The country has been so supportive. And for us because we didn’t know what we were going to do during — after the fire. We didn’t know what reaction we were going to have but now I’m so encouraged right now and I’m so elated about the reaction that they had … The people that gave, the people that supported us. I can only be just joyful.”
Lemon noted “criticism” the president has received for not speaking sooner.
“Some people thought it was a little too late, but it’s good now that the administration has acknowledged it,” he said. “And do you think that they’re going to help? Do you feel satisfied with this?”
The response
quote:
“Well, I’m optimistic, Don,” Richard answered. “I feel like after this tragedy the country is coming together. I appreciate the fact that Mr. Trump did acknowledge the fact that we had this tragedy down here in Louisiana and I was encouraged today when Mr. Pence came and visited with us. I respect our leadership. One thing I know, Don, that if you’re going to be a leader, you’ve got to acknowledge the suffering of Christ. If that’s where his heart is I believe that we are going to be helped.”

I can verify brief sojourns into actual news on CNN. I was is an airport and for some stupid-azz reason the pub had CNN on. During one of their many leftist rants, something happened. Like:
"We interrupt our regular socialist propaganda to bring you this actual news report, a plane has crashed in ________, we'll provide additional details as we get them." Lo and behold, a plane did crash as reported. CNN reporting actual news! I saw it myself!
Ya know, now that I think of it, I was in an airport waiting to board a flight...and a plane had crashed...hmmmm...

Trump gets glowing reviews from UK media. US news focuses on BabyBlimp & protests instead
quote:
Trump gets mostly glowing reviews from UK media, while US coverage focuses on Baby Blimp, protests
By David Montanar
June 5, 2019
While President Trump has received largely positive local coverage of his visit to the United Kingdom, the American media has stayed focused on the negative, Joe Concha said Wednesday on "Fox & Friends."
Concha, of The Hill and WOR radio, said the mainstream media's coverage has been consumed by the protests of Trump's visit, even though the demonstrations "are about a third as large" as last summer.
"All we're seeing, basically, is this Trump Baby Blimp, which is getting more coverage than the O.J. Bronco. I see this thing constantly. ... It's typical of what we've seen with Trump. If it's negative, that's the way we're gonna go," he said.
Concha compared the disparity in the coverage by the British and American media with the Jussie Smollett case, where the Chicago media was presenting a different picture than the national media.
Concha said Trump has come across as a "strong leader" and "competent" in his appearances alongside Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II.
I feel for those poor Brits when all they have to watch is CNN. They don't get FNC over there, all they get is fake news.
Did I hear Rush or someone else on talk radio explaining that U.S. based CNN is losing money every day while CNN International is the cash cow? Don’t they pay many, if not all, airports to keep their channel up in the concourses, lounges, and restaurants? Seems to me it’s like feeding your kid a corn dog every day for 15 years and then he doesn’t know what to do when you give him a steak. People who watch, and believe CNN are corn dog lovers so to speak.

CNN also owns CNN International. CNN is owned by TimeWarner (Warner Media), which was bought a couple of years ago by AT&T for around 85 billion. CNN International loses about 10 million a year. Trump did his best to block T’s acquisition of TWX, because he and Rupert Murdoch scratch each other’s swampasses.
AT&T was just responding competitively to Netflix, Amazon, Apple and Google.
The nature of how we obtain content and the potential market power that any content distributor/creator has over preventing competition has changed radically since Paramount. Would have been different even 10 years ago before streaming, but we are entering in a world where consumers can easily have (and most likely will have) multiple subscription sources instead of relying on a single cable or satellite provider.
Great place for this tidbit as CNN,Gannett and MSNBC have so very few real journalist IMHO. Place they recently fired and let a ton of these go

Journalism Job Cuts Haven't Been This Bad Since Recession...
(Bloomberg) -- The news business is on pace for its worst job losses in a decade as about 3,000 people have been laid off or been offered buyouts in the first five months of this year.
The cuts have been widespread. Newspapers owned by Gannett and McClatchy, digital media companies like BuzzFeed and Vice Media, and the cable news channel CNN have all shed employees.
FoxNews has had to cut quite a few employees, too, but that was because they were sexually harassing folks.
No it's the CNN and MSNBC viewers, especially the moderate Dems and the independents, which have CNN and MSNBC. They are now seeking other news venues that will at least report a glimmer of the truth and not as much hatred and promotion of subtle pro-violence stances.
While not directly related to CNN, it is related to google and thier attempt at manipulating people. To prove that they are in bed with Democrats I will submit
example A: Up until yesterday you could google "Clinton and Epstein" and find a dozen or so images of them together socializing. Now if you do that, you only see pictures of Clinton and Epstein side by side, but obviously separate pictures and not shown "together" at the same event as in the past. However if you do google Clinton and Epstein, they do show pictures of Trump and Epstein together in the same picture. Definite manipulation going on here.
Exhibit B: NBC News:
As everyone knows by now, earlier today a reporter (I use the word loosely) asked Mitch McConnell if he was aware that two of his great-great-grandfathers were slave owners in Alabama before the Civil War.
McConnell had a great quip ready, knowing in advance that the MSM was going to try to attack him on this revelation. So McConnell replies, "I find myself once again in the same position as President Obama. We both oppose reparations and we both are the descendants of slave owners"
That's some O.G. stuff right there. Witty. Succinct. And 100% true.
So how does NBC report on this tonight? Behold:quote:
WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on Tuesday confirmed that he is a descendant of slave owners and reiterated that he still opposes government reparations for descendants of American slaves.
Complete and utter bias in reporting.
Why were you googling “Clinton and Epstein”?
Looking for confirmation bias? But instead just discovered how much Trump liked him. Lol
If you try Bing and Yahoo and other search engines, you get similar results, so your Google conspiracy theory doesn’t really hold water.
Because it is well known that Clinton and Epstein were big buds.. He made several trips with Epstein on his private jet. A couple of trips were sans Secret Service Detail. Epstein was a big democrat donor and had relationships with many powerful people in Washington. Early attempts by media tried to tie Trump and Epstein as big buds.. but that was not able to stick.
Google has a corporate culture that pushes democratic agenda and writes algorithms which limit which conservative results appear in search results. There have been undercover videos where google execs admit to this and state that they will do everything in their power to prevent ever having another person like Trump to occupy the white house. But I'm sure you would call videos of C-execs of google admitting to this as fake news..
Yes, Clinton took numerous trips to Lolita Island. He also had meetings/get-togethers with Epstein in Vegas and elsewhere. The Clintons are (not were, still are) good friends with a woman who was a recruiter of young girls for the island. Don't let the masters of cover-up and their willing boobs (Hello Goosey!) deter you from knowing the truth. Slick Willy is a scum bucket, sleaze bag...that is not news, except to Goosey who thinks Billy Boy is an angel (which he doesn't even believe in).
So far no "hard" evidence, i.e. testimony or video tapes, has surfaced to incriminate Slick Boy in underage sex...probably anyone who could deliver such evidence has already committed "suicide." But, he was on the Lolita Express several times. Only a fool would think scumbag Clinton said "none for me, thanks."
After Epstein's conviction in 2008, the Clintons maintained contact until 2010, when they claim to have cut off ties prior to their ugly daughter's wedding. But, the recruiter woman was invited to the wedding.
Of course, we say "claim" to have cut ties because they are such hardcore liars. More likely Slick Boy has just done a good job of keeping his on-going relationship with Epstein and his "Disney World" Island, under wraps.
If it's evil....the Clintons did it. Period.
Trump quote:
"I've known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy," "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it -- Jeffrey enjoys his social life."
.........
I think you are comparing apples and oranges when you are talking about traditional media, like CNN/Fox/NBC and platform companies like Google/Apple/FB, particularly those that rely on users being able to find what they are looking for to be successful.
I think companies like Google understand that because of their power they also have responsibility, but I do not believe for one second that Google has any interest in playing political favorites with their platform.
Google’s mission statement is “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful.” Having listened to Google execs on earnings conference calls, senior management constantly emphasizes this point. There is no way that this message should be lost on any Google employee. However, users are not generally looking for false information that is being put out by actors that are deliberately promoting false publications and trying to abuse search algorithms to elevate to increase their views. These companies don’t want to police content on their platform (they want to make it easier for users to find the content they seek), but in a world where content generators are abusing the platform and undermining the mission of Google/Alphabet, they have to sort that out somehow.
