Re: M. Basketball. Defense Carries Bulldogs to their 11th Straight Win (UTA)
I believe the "old" people Dawg06 is referring to sit on the back row of the designated student section below the press area. They are longtime season ticket holders. I've heard a story that they were required to move from another section but I don't remember the details.
The students in section 106 with Mr. and Mrs. Russdawg were from Minden High School. According to several of them, one (or more) of our coaches was at the Minden-Huntington game on Friday night, looking at a Huntington player, and our coach(es) invited the Minden High students to our game. Tickets were arranged and several made the trip to cheer for the DAWGS.
I heard two different versions about coach(es) doing the inviting. One student said it was Derrick Jones but a couple said it was the head coach. I didn't talk to them long enough to pin it down - it would have been easy to get description(s) and more information, but I didn't expect the subject to come up on BB&B. I just thanked them for coming and moved on.

That's not really who I was talking about. I know that couple has been there a long time. There were a lot of older fans in sections 110 and 112 on both sides of the press booth. There were also a lot of students throughout the TAC not in the student section. If we want the students to have an significant impact on the game atmosphere, we need them all grouped together and on their feet like at football games.
Props to the Minden High students. They were awesome!

Thanks for the clarification. I agree with you about the need to get students all together. I remember a few years ago when some students were ejected for standing or being loud. Hopefully, we'll never see that again. Fans in the student section who do not want to stand all the time should be strongly encouraged to sit elsewhere.
I never paid attention to other older fans in the student section but the older couple that I mentioned are really obvious among the students. I don't know who they are, but I'm sure they can't see over the standing students. Perhaps they should be offered the best available seats, outside the student section, at a a reduced price or for free next year as an incentive for them to move, if they want to move.

The "old folks" in the student section may in fact be students. They are probably members of the adult fitness.class and are actual students of the university. They are allowed in that section.

The MHS students demonstrated how putting a rabbid group of students directly behind the goal can be a huge help when the opponents are shooting free throws.

I agree! Thanks Minden HS students, y'all were great. I'd love to see about 2-3,000 of our students in the TAC...they bring a very contagious energy and excitement to the entire building...they certainly bring the "12th man" for our football games.

I'm glad we've got students coming, but some of them have changed our cheers into something a little more...lsu-ish. Unacceptable in my book. Keep it clean guys, this ain't BR. </rant>
