So that number includes S&C staff plus perhaps whatever full-times managers and trainers are assigned to football, maybe even a dedicated SID person who is full-time. Am I reading that correctly? So it's not really $2 million for the coaches. Correct, Kent?
Nice try obviously the 2 million was for football. S&C, SID, managers and trainers work for all sports so their pay comes out of the general fund. Napier's 2 mil was to put together a staff. By the way Napier just hired 2 full time nutritionist also, who's pay wont be coming out of that either. I don't think Billy negotiated on behalf of the entire athletic program when it came to his contract.

He had a few stops at academic fraud, improper payments and NCAA rules violations along the way.
Also, signing day in December came and went without a single signee.
Again, I admire your enthusiasm. But FPC's statement is a good indicator of how the Cajun program is viewed outside the Acadiana area and even within the Acadiana era by other fanbases, the LSU fanbase in particular. It's not what Ricky Bustle inherited, but it's still pretty low. Rock bottom is a fairly accurate statement. The Cajun program really needs to get on the field and win some games for that to change.
Huds record was 51-38. I know what I saw.
I agree with the Broke Back Center all things he said are true. We had a president that neglected athletics for over 30 years stretching from the 70s to 2ks. Dr Ray wouldn't allow athletic fundraising at all, it was like an entire department in shackles. We are just starting to pull out of that now. Any way y'all keep living in the past but trust me when I say the AD we have now has more vision in his pinky than an previous has ever had.
Don't remember if I mention that last year the RCAF raised 12.4 million and you guys raised 1.5. How bout your foundation Broke Back Poke what did y'all raise?

Well I stand corrected. I guess all of us on this board were wrong for doubting you. For the Cajun athletic department to be paying $2 million per year to a 10-person staff the 2 coordinators must be making around 500k per year. That's a lot for a coach who has never coached in the FBS and another who has never called plays.
But I guess it is what it is. For me to doubt you like that and for the Bulldog faithful on this board to give you a hard time like this we owe you a beer at some point.
I guess I was wrong. The RaginPagin must have been right on this since the Daily Advertiser said it was so, as well. Anybody have anything to add to this? Anybody else want to offer an apology to Kent!
Dawg06 - you have anything to add?

Those 2 completely ran the offense last year at Arizona St, and will continue to do it the same way here. As for over paying coaches not sure how to put a price tag on that? They haven't coached a game yet. If early recruiting is any indicatoion they are worth every penny, as 247 sports has them ranked in the top 3 of all G5 schools, and 54 over all currently, for the 2109 class. If they continue that trend for a few years the success will be soon to follow, in a very big way.

The Advertiser is what our president calls "fake news."
Skip's base salary is $200,000 greater than what your The Advertiser is reporting: $700,000.
And ULL's assistant coach salary pool is $1.73 million. Not $2 million.

Cheating....You saw cheating...and you thought it was quality football. Typical Ragged Couyon fan. So desperate for relevance that you're willing to overlook cheating and corruption.
It would be amusing if it weren't so damned sad.
If you merely vacate the wins and treat the games that he cheated in as though they didn't hapen, his record is 29-38.
If you assess them as losses, as probably should be done, he's at 29-60.
Stellar stuff there! Clearly, he's destined for the Couyon Hallf of Fame!
Re: Guess who the only team without a 10th assistant will be
In my best R. Lee Ermey imitation: Holy #$%&!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe it. The RaginPagin and Daily Advertiser were wrong. :icon_razz: Who would have ever guessed???
So Kent it looks like the Cajun athletic department isn't paying $2 million a year to your 10 assistants after all. In fact, far from it. I should have believed my initial gut feeling along with some historical perspective and known that the high dollar number was probably nonsense. It looks like The Daily Advertiser never bothered to check the contracts.
But we'll still buy you a beer. When your nephew decommits during the season and make a trip up to Ruston in December to sign during the early signing period. You can come with him and take a look at his new home in the piney woods.

Damn. You guys are harsh. I did get a good laugh out of the thread though.

Re: Guess who the last team to get a 10th assistant will be
Just out of Curiousity.....is Billy Napier any relation to Alan Napier, who played Alfred the Butler on the classic Batman series from the 60's?
I only ask, because maybe USL can take some name change inspiration from that. They could become The Butlers!
Can't you just imagine the Chili Pepper mascot wearing a Bat mask, and - in his best raspy Bat Dad Voice - screaming "I'm the University of Louisiana!"??
I can't be the only one who envisions this....

Whoa, whoa, whoa. The Historian can't have all the fun.
According to the most recent LA Legislative Auditor reports here were normal contributions to the respective foundations for the period ending June 30, 2017...
ULL - $1,835,329 ($2,084,105 if you include in-kind donations and a small NCAA distribution)
La Tech - $2,156,156

We've had our own capital campaigns recently for the endzone facility and press box and raised millions of one time, non repeating donations, but unlike you guys, we don't feel the need to resort to the pumping up of things to try to make ourselves look bigger.

Just out of curiousity, do you guys have a lot of debt service on the endzone and/or pressbox projects? I only ask because I'm hearing rumors that the Couyons are paying interest on their mediocrity...
Wait, that actually sounds like it could be a book title...."Paying Interest on Mediocrity: The USL story"

Yeah. We have some debt, but it's not in the same stratosphere as what the Cajuns are dealing with.
As of about a year ago, the debt service on the GO bonds and bank loan that the Cajuns had on their books was to the tune of $55 million over the next 26 years. There is talk in Lafayette about a renovation to Cajun Field, but it's doubtful the Board of Regents allows any debt to be floated for it until the current debt is either paid off or dramatically reduced.

Still the best comment on this thread. ;)
