Re: @LATechSports Announces North Endzone Facility Plan
We've got to stop worrying about getting "markets" and start worrying about getting those who attend or attended Tech involved. Should have been doing this 50 years ago...25 years ago. Instead we just keep doing that same things that don't work.
We have academia making decisions on how to market to our people. We don't need to market to our region, we need to market to our people and let them do the marketing. Of course they can't do that when we have Holtz losing the way he does and we have people constantly apologizing for his HORRIBLE losses and saying Holtz is not responsible for selling tickets.
Contrast the Holtz program with the Burroughs program. I've had my issues with Burroughs on the field decisions, but he gets it when it comes to building his team and his fan base. FWIW, our MBB coach is as lost as a goose and we are going down hill fan wise with him in charge.
Our former AD set us back years. Who made that hire?

Totally agree with these two points.

We the peons have discussed multiple things repeatedly. Make tailgating easier, not harder. Game experience has to be fun and do away with the same old tires boring promotions. Entice the students to attend and stay. Demand a winning on field product. Grow the band by 35-40 members. Put Nancy Bergeron out to pasture. This would be a good start.

Tech football needs to do like Tech baseball did for the post season when they put a professional in the press announcer’s box. He brought a whole new element of excitement and enthusiasm to the ballpark experience. It even got the team going or maybe it was the fans that got the team going. Whatever, it was great!
Tech baseball needs to do this again and from game 1, not game 41.

Good to know. I didn't know Rock Hill was in Prosper ISD because Rock Hill is actually located in Frisco, TX, not Prosper, TX.

It does piss me off that they don't even let people "tour" the SEZ, or the new Press box for that matter. I've never even been in the new press box facility. I'd love to watch a game from up there. LOL!

Did those games help us in any meaningful way as opposed to playing in the Joe? I only see the use of Independence Stadium is if we can secure a big blue blood P5 program. Otherwise I really think we ought to play in the Joe and work on making the gameday atmosphere and experience better.
It's not about playing in Shreveport for fun. It's about playing just enough games in Shreveport to CLAIM THE MARKET.
People have simply GOT to understand that a lack of a "MARKET" is killing LA Tech's chances to move to a better conference. Please know it, please understand it, and if you have to, hold your nose and LIVE WITH IT! And yes, we need to play more men's and women's BB games in Shreveport-Bossier too. For the same reason. Tech simply MUST claim that market.

AMEN! I will add that it is not the ONLY thing we must do, but it one of the things we must do...

Guice became Tech president on July, 1, 2013, and the Boy Wonder was announced on July 16, 2013.

I seem to remember him getting the credit for that crappy hire at the time. If he didn't do it, I have certainly always blamed him for that pitiful, no vision hire. I don't remember anyone denouncing it as being anyone else that was responsible.
Re: @LATechSports Announces North Endzone Facility Plan
Only university presidents can hire/fire. Yeah, of course, they lean heavily on department heads and/or search committees for recommendations, but ultimately every hire/fire crosses the president's desk, and they have WAY MORE power and authority than you might think.

Very good points...just wish S'port was getting safer everyday instead of more dangerous.

Been here for 10 years...never felt in danger. We have a problem because we pay our cops way too little and, as a result, the good ones take off at the first opportunity. That said, the Amazon distribution center is supposed to bring 1,000 jobs and I'm sure there will be supplemental work that comes from that too.
This is a fickle sports town, but I think the basketball game against LSU coming up is a the type of thing we need to do. Maybe play some big names at Indy every other year or so. I don't know how to crack the egg, but I assume EW has some thoughts.
