Do you just want to build it for the fun? If not, I'd get a completed rifle.
I can't believe you bought a Taurus auto! brave soul
A trade and a giftcard will have me picking this up later this week...

Let me know how it holds up. I currently don't trust Taurus autos.
Bad experience or just the hype? I've read a lot of negative opinions of the Taurus line, but everyone that I know who OWNS one loves it.
I still might change my mind when I get there. I'm gonna look at the 709 and a Ruger LCR and see which one fits my pocket better.
The Ruger LCP will fit in a midget's jock strap!
I had a friend that didn't like his. I read a lot of gun forums too, they have a bad rep. The wheel guns do not, but the autos do. There's a reason they're the cheapest option.
For personal defense I want the *best* reliability on the market. The *best* comes from small wheelies, glock/xd/m&p polymer guns (for that price point), and good quality 1911s.
I have no idea why somebody would drop 1000 on a HK when they could just get a 1911. Or save money and go with the glock/xd/mp. HKs and Sigs are fine weapons, just costly.
Guns, cars, and women are personal choices but some are better than others.
Taurus is Kia. I wouldn't get a Ruger autoloader either. Nobody I know who bought one ended up liking it. Ruger makes wonderful guns in their .22 rifles, pistols, and all revolvers. S&W, springfield, glock, kahr, sig, hk, and walther all make excellent autos.
I'd even get a keltec pf9 before a taurus. Did you look at one of those?
I wouldn't even get a Kimber 1911 right now based on some recent problems. I'd get a springfield.
For example, this one stuck in my mind:
His gun turned out fine after the repair. They have many noted quality control issues. They will fix them as they come up but I wouldn't stake my life on them. And that's what we're talking about.Quote:
Yesterday was 5 wks. now that Taurus has had my 709 Slim, that would be the new one I bought that has an extractor that appears to have been gnawed on by an angry beaver (40% FTE). The service rep. said the gun is scheduled to be worked on around the middle of next week. TODAY I get an automated message from Fed Ex, I'm to expect a 10 A.M. delivery that must be signed for by a person at least 21 yrs. of age. "The 709 Slim." Not only did I get a 400$ POS,now Taurus doesn't even know what their doing after they have done it. Be going straight to the range tomorrow, taking bets on the reliability of Taurus's warranty work. Will let ya'll know about it tomorrow...
