Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN
Starbucks and Chik Fil A cause traffic issues here in Memphis. The business should be issued a citation for causing unsafe conditions and the drivers IMO. I'm a true capitalist but we all own the roads, not just the soccer mom craving her Iced Green Tea Latte Mocha. It's up to the business to serve their customers while maintaining public safety.

Only in their parking lot...and as long as they allow the minimum number of vehicles into their drive thru lines as defined by the city zoning requirements, they are meeting their obligations.
The town would have to change their requirements...which can potentially lead to a business choosing to go somewhere else...negatively impact the local economy...thus increasing unemployment...meaning less taxes paid to the federal government...increasing the speed at which the country goes bankrupt...causing Starbucks to relocate overseas...creating a coffee supply monopoly for McDonald's...which would cause mass hysteria...leading to dogs and cats living together...you know, stuff that will turn you white.
Coffee is a very powerful thing.
Don't get me started on Chick-fil-a.

I know you were being silly here, but developers love to make this case. And they all do it ... I think it must be taught in big-shot developer school.
95% of the time, it's a bluff. If they dont get their variance or waiver, they'll grouse to anyone who will listen about unfriendly the community is to development. But then they quietly revise their plans, resubmit, and build according to the code.

SILLY? ME? psh. Never.
And they do in fact teach Big-shot Development at the Thornton Melon School of Business. It's a good program. You just have to make sure you don't step in number two.

Butt, butt, how many toilets must be installed inside per parking space??

Thanks guys, for your support of our DQ Grill and Chill! Please continue to support all businesses that support your Bulldawgs. As you know we advertise with Tech and we also donate to LTAC. I just signed a deal with LA Tech Sports Properties to advertise in football and basketball. I'm excited about the football red zone ad we are doing.

Thanks for the follow-up. Hopefully construction starts sooner than later.

It's a cultural phenomenon. How can two chick-fil-a locations...30 yards apart...both operatate at more than sustainable capacities and make one guy huge profits? In West Monroe of all places? Insanity. It has to be the cows. Marketing genius.

It's okay. Maybe one day Ruston will be like West Monroe's diverse Thomas Road exit. Keep bringing your dining and movie dollars to us!

Whatever. West Monroe wasn't legit until you got a Duck Diner. You guys are just taking advantage of poor Phil and Willie. Without them, you guys are nothing more than a Monroe suburb. :D

Naw, Ruston banker Sam Thomas got the first Wal-Mart to locate on the west side of Thomas Road (on property he owned) back in the 1970s, and it was off to the races after that. Phil was still trying to find himself back then as a school teacher.:icon_razz:
