In your thinking the correct Latin usage would be would be "alumnus" or "alumna".

yes, thanks. either way, "alumni" makes no sense, aside from the siamese scenario

my wife and i both graduated from Tech. does that entitle us to have an "alumni" license plate, or is there some legit reason that it would only work for siamese twins?
Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
"alumni" is masculine plural of almnus and is used when designating both genders together. "alumnae" is feminine plural of alumna and is used only when designating multiple females. Oh, Father Walsh would be so proud.:)

This fact completely makes up for it:icon_wink:. I was just wondering how technically correct it was to have the plural form on a license plate that, in the case of most people, is on a vehicle that is primarily driven by one person

Maybe it is intended to be a shout out to other alumni, rather than an identifier of the person(s) in the vehicle?

That's what I was thinking ...
Like when Guiss puts a Counting Crows bumper sticker on his van. It doesnt mean he thinks he is a crow or has birds in his car. It just means they are one of his favorite bands EVER!
I'm sure the driver in question just meant to express that he is a fan of chigger alums in general. Not that he and his siamese twin both graduated from lsux.
Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
I am in Ruston this week and was amused to learn that KNLU has changed its call sign to KULX.

Saw one of the license plate frames today that said "Alumnus".
The only sticker I have and ever will put on my car is a Tech one. Stickers look bad on cars, but I am happy to make my car uglier to advertise for Tech.

This conversation just took a turn for the ugly side.
Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
I've got my own bathroom at my new job. It's a really nice perk, but I'm gonna have to start bringing my own tp from home. The newsprint/bark they keep stocked in there is just tearing me up.
Nosirreebob. Only Cottonelle with Aloe for my tender cheeks.
