Of course, this is all Trump's fault.

State Department leaked cables renew theories on origin of coronavirus
US sounded alarm on Wuhan lab studying coronavirus two years ago, report says
State Department cables obtained by The Washington Post warned about the safety and security of coronavirus testing on bats in China in 2018; Gillian Turner reports.
A Chinese laboratory at the center of new theories about how the coronavirus pandemic started was the subject of multiple urgent warnings inside the U.S. State Department two years ago, according to a new report.
U.S. Embassy officials warned in January 2018 about inadequate safety at the Wuhan Institute of Virology lab and passed on information about scientists conducting risky research on coronavirus from bats, The Washington Post reported Tuesday.
IF CHINA ACTED EARLIER, CORONAVIRUS CASES COULD HAVE BEEN CUT BY AS MUCH AS 95 PERCENT, FDA CHIEF
Those cables have renewed speculation inside the U.S. government about whether Wuhan-based labs were the source of the novel coronavirus, although no firm connection has been established. The theory, however, has gained traction in recent days.
The United Kingdom has said that the idea that the virus, which has turned into a full-blown global pandemic, was leaked from a Wuhan lab is "no longer being discounted."
A member of the U.K. government's emergency committee of senior officials claimed Sunday: "There is a credible alternative view (to the zoonotic theory) based on the nature of the virus. Perhaps it is no coincidence that there is a laboratory in Wuhan."
Foreign affairs expert Gordon Chang said in a recent opinion piece on Fox News that "many Chinese believe the virus either was deliberately released or accidentally escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a P4-level bio-safety facility."
He added: "This lab, known for studying coronaviruses, is not far from the market that had been initially identified as the source of the outbreak."

I agree DeBlasio is an idiot - and the fact that he was listening to Trump only underscores the point.
A mere 2 days before DeBlasio said what he said, Trump said this:
“So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!“
Literally - he said “nothing is shut down, life and the economy go on.”
The day before DeBlasio said that, Trump said the following:
“Well, this was unexpected. This was something that came out of China, and it hit us and many other countries. You look at the numbers; I see the numbers with just by watching you folks. I see it — it's over 100 different countries. And it hit the world. And we're prepared, and we're doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away,"
Literally, Trump said “just stay calm, it will go away.”
On the day DeBlasio said what he said Trump said the following:
"To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days. The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight. These restrictions will be adjusted subject to conditions on the ground."
Two days later, Trump declared a national emergency.
So, yeah, DeBlasio was an idiot for going along with Trump, but let’s not revise history and pretend he was defying Trump’s suggestions.
I have told you all these reasons before, except perhaps explaining how New York’s subway system plays into its density.
I type these posts on an iPhone, so some responses are not as wholistic as others.
You always make vague simple comments, so I don’t always put as much detail in responses to your posts.
Trump doesn't run NYC or New York state or any of the states.
I knew your TDS would blame Trump. You have ZERO credibility. If you made a logical point (slim chance of that), I'd miss it because you are just unhinged.
Actually, with what we knew at the time, DeBlasio probably made the correct assumption. You may re-write history to make your straw man argument, but it doesn't change facts.
DeBlasio didn’t have all the same intel that Trump ignored. Had Trump been more inclined to heed the warnings, and actually relayed these warnings, rather than downplaying the risks, he wouldn’t have even needed to force states to shut down.
Epic failure of leadership.
I'd guess population density would be the major factor. New York City has a density of 26,000 per square mile to Los Angeles of 7,500 per square mile (pick another city if you wish). I'm just imagining how many people 1 sick person could come in contact with in New York compared to Los Angeles. While New Orleans is only 2,300 per square mile I imagine around Mardi Gras it was more similar to New York. Over most days, other than family members, I probably would contact less than 10 to 20 people (most at work or the gym). I think there are other factors also.
Had to endure scanning thru some DeBlasio press conferences, which have lots of comments from average folks (on Youtube), and ah, nope! Trump was at least 6 weeks ahead of DeBlasio, and the idiotic health official. The comments left by New Yorkers speak volumes. Even self-professed anti-Trumpers blasted DeBlasio for not following the president's recommendations. One news conference was on March 16th.
Then one from March 19th, comments include, "what are our governor and mayor waiting for?" and "Why isn't NYC shut down?"
One comment, "Our mayor is an idiot!" Well, even Goosey agrees with that.
Saw a Biden campaign commercial...in it we hear Biden say:
If I were president I'd have 10 regional testing centers already set up and vaccine for the Coronavirus. When president I will be prepared for future pandemics...
I'll say he will! Why, he would have known all about C-19, even before the virus manifested from those Chicom weapons' labs and was loosed on the poor folks of Wuhan. Amazing clairvoyance! And have a vaccine ready and waiting when any new virus appears from out of the blue. Okay, given that, why doesn't Biden tell us exactly what the molecular make-up of the next virus is gonna be, so our pharma labs can start working on the vaccine for it. Why wait, Joe? Tell the world now.
** of course, it is possible Joe Biden does know/will know since his comrades the Chicoms are keeping him apprised of their latest virus development.
And now another corrupt liberal Presidential candidate and his company shut down the truth.

Behind Bloomberg News' campaign to silence its own journalists for reporting on China corruption

The real Patient Zero contracted SARS II (aka Covid-19) on November 17, 2019. He had NEVER been to the Huanan Market in Wuhan, the contrived origin of this outbreak. Of the first 41 patients confirmed with SARS II, 14 had never been to Huanan, and then of the first 445, about half, 200+ had no connection whatsoever to Huanan Market. The Chicoms concocted the whole story of a natural viral outbreak from some woman eating a bat bought at that market, and they set the date as December 15. They then used that as excuse to "clean" the market thus destroying all evidence, just like cleaning a crime scene to prevent forensic investigation.
Without getting into the LONG scientific explanation, C-19 is a lab created version of the SARS virus, which in itself is also a lab created virus, derived from the HIV virus which caused the AIDS epidemic. Experts call it SARS II because it is the original SARS virus with a modified "key" designed to easily unlock human cells for infection.
The Chicoms are responsible, the Chicoms have been and are developing biological weapons. The CIA does think that it leaked accidently from the P4 Virology Lab in Wuhan, which originally was a joint French-Chinese venture, before the commies ran the French out...after the facility was completed in 2017. The Chicoms have spared no expense and no effort to get their operatives into every major university, pharma lab, and company working in the field. That included for a while, the Univ of North Carolina where Dr. Shi Zhengli who began a joint study at UNC and later became the chief architect of the SARS II virus. The US funded that study...until 2015 when someone in the Obama administration grew alarmed about what was going on. To his credit President Obama ordered the research shut down and the program at UNC halted. That was good...but, he and his advisors and the CIA should have followed up on it. Instead, Obama pulled a Pontius Pilate and simply washed his hands of it. Dr. Zhengli carried all that research data back to China with her. The Chicoms were already working with other institutions and that is when they hooked up with the French to build the lab in Wuhan.
This confirms what I had tidbits of info on, and why I have posted several times about the Australian doctor who was "kicked out of" China and who then sounded the alarm, and of the CIA, and Japan and South Korea, all spying on the Chicoms to determine what was going on. The WHO engaged in a cover-up with the Chicoms and kept deflecting the rest of the world away from the truth.
Again, the CIA is convinced the leaking of the deadly virus from the P4 Lab in Wuhan was accidental because Dr. Shi Zhengli had been dismissed from a lab in Canada for lax procedures guarding against exposure to dangerous biological agents, and when at UNC she had been reprimanded several times by the head of the project for her carelessness. In Wuhan she was deputy in charge of the project...little wonder the virus escaped the lab.
The Chicoms ARE developing biological weapons because their own military doctrine, #9, states [paraphrasing], we have learned through war games we cannot hope to defeat the US military in a head to head engagement, therefore we must use other means to be victorious.
That right there seems altogether plausible.
Not sure that I buy it all right now. But maybe ...
