Bump... Since our game thread was pushed off the first page because of a thread on our football forum dedicated to the juco.

Looks like we dropped off our defensive scheme at ULM on the way to the airport today.

Just keep our offense and show that we CAN play defense. I don't care if it is a one point win, I just want to be 3-0.

Prediction:
The Tech offense sputters out the gate, and we find ourselves down 10 in the second quarter.

Then we learn how this bulldog team handles adversity...

I think they rally back with a lot of lead changes, and we win by one score. Even turnover margin.

If our defense doesn't do well tonight they are going to cancel the rest of the season...is what I heard.

I broke my nose and had to get stitches this morning in an unfortunate bush hog accident, we better f'ing win.

I am expecting a game similar to the Houston game. Lots of offense. Hope we can make a couple of defensive stops to take the W. Big question is would we be ranked this week with a win?

I'm thinking their game looks much more like Rice than Houston. Lots more ground game, just slightly better skill.

I'm just hoping we don't miss too much on Offense this game. We've got to cut out penalties and drops.

My heart says yes, but my head says NO. Tech will proablly not be ranked solely by beating Illinois. If Illinois was ranked, that would be a whole other kettle of fish. However, Illinois isn't anywhere close to it for two primary reasons:

1.) They lost six of their last seven games in the 2011 season. Furthermore, they have had no chance of redemption by simply beating two relatively weak teams in weeks 1 and 3 (a crappy MAC team and a FCS program).

2.) The only good team they have played was Arizona, who basically handed the mighty Illini their A$se$ in week 2.

Best case scenario before cracking the top 25 would be a win today in Illinois, Virginia, and a blow out against UNLV at home. If this happens, there is a good "possibility" Tech would be ranked before playing aTm in Shreveport (depending on how the current ranked teams perform between now and then). That said, if Tech's defense doesn't step it up to at least medicore-status and pull off a WIN against the 3 teams I just mentioned, (all 3 being near the bottom of their respective conference) we won't deserve to be ranked. Hopefully, the defense will do a better job this week.

No. Too many teams ahead of us have already won this week, and it would be hard for Louisiana Tech to leapfrog over them. If Tech wins tonight, we'll get a few more votes in the Coaches' Poll, but we won't be in the Top 25.

Defense looks ok. Looked bad until QG got that big hit. Maybe they've found some mojo? Crowe looked good on that punt coverage tackle.

Offense needs to get going. O-line looks like they're getting mowed over so far.
