Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Couple of things, guys... First, really enjoyed visiting with Tommy McClelland this past Friday when he came to Shreveport for a meet and greet with the media. He is as sharp as a tack---and very forthcoming with his opinions. I wrote an article the other day re: a few topics that are at the forefront of college football with Tommy's reactions (http://www.thetimfletchershow.com/20...ector-has.html )
Interestingly, the only other media entity that conducted an interview with Tommy was The Shreveport Times (good ol' Jimmy!). Today, Roy Lang posted a story in the paper, introducing me as a member of The Times family... i'll be writing a Sunday column and doing a video feature once/week. I will not be stepping on Jimmy or Matt's toes in covering the Dogs and Techsters---but---i do like a good story! If any of y'all have something in mind that deserves more in depth coverage than we could provide at the television station, feel free to email me: getflechsports@yahoo.com
thanks... and congratulations on having T-McC running things in Ruston!

Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Wonder why he isn't starting officially until October 1st? That's a long time when college football is your biggest sport. Looks like he'll do a great job for us....and has obviously already started to work.
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Monday is his first offical day
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
straight from Tommy's mouth: my first official day is October 1st. doesn't mean he won't be on the job at Tech, though
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Thanks for covering us Tim!
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Yep - symantics
McNeese officially gave him his release Friday afternoon and is supposed to be in Ruston Monday...
What can we expect from your columns Fletch?
Don't you agree we need a coach's show in football and men's basketball?

I saw him say AUGUST 1st in other interviews. Either you misheard him or T-Mac misspoke.

Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Fletch, congrats on the new gig! I'd like to read a piece on who you think will emerge as the "leaders" of this year's squad. I know guys like Hunter Lee and DJ Banks live their faith overtly and I thought either/both could step into that role. I know IK has dedicated himself to being a force on the field. He was also fairly outspoken at the CUSA media days. I'm curious as to who will step up and bridge the gap from the Dykes era to Holtz.

Maybe the 10/1 date is when the contract will be officially approved through the University System.

Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Really, folks? We're going to argue with one of the few people who will be responsible for any news that others will hear about our Dawgs? Is being right on such a trivial matter so important that you're willing to risk pissing off one of those who controls how we are viewed in the area of the state we need the most?

This forum is not for thin-skinned folks.

Don't wish to be accused of being right on a trivial matter, but, it's "grandmothers." Simple plural form of the word. Not, "grandmother's", the possessive form. :icon_wink:

Thanks for helping make the point,
Oh and Fletcher stop the ULL to B12 trolling you're better than that, right?
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Thanks for posting on BB&B and the news coverage Tim!
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Looking forward to the columns, Tim! Try to Split your coverage between LSU and Tech. Not everyone in the state cares for the college down south.

Now you're just being argumentative. I make a little joke to, yes, to make the point, and you have to launch an unwarranted attack against my character. As I posted, folks need to be a little less thin-skinned on here, sheeeesh! (:icon_wink:)

Nobody has been disrespectful--they've just pointed out that they're understanding the situation differently. Besides, as an ethical journalist, I doubt Tim would slant his coverage because message board fans were "pissing" him off!

Good God......some if you people need to get AWAY from BB&B for a few days. And yes, DD, you're one of those that needs a break. Paranoia is setting in.

In the real world, it always amazes me how much Louisiana Tech is respected academically and athletically.
I only tune in here to read Tech fans' opinions on how we do, in fact, suck. And beat each other up trying to be right-est.
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
hey... we all get stir-crazy waiting for kick-off!

I wish you'd go away for a lot of days HD

Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
Fletch,
It would be awesome if you could interview our football players during the couple weeks leading up to the season like you did last year. Those were some great interviews with Myles, Quinton, and co. We have a lot of new players to get to know this season, and I think they are genuinely good guys.
-
Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
I would like to hear some historical perspective on Tech's current situation. New President, new AD, new head coach and coordinators. Has this ever happened at another school? (Penn State doesn't count, obviously). Was it too much change at once, how did the teams and organizations handle the change? Did the team win?
Since Shreveport-Bossier is a market with a lot of Tech grads, someone needs to give them a kick in the shorts for not supporting their team the way they should, but I guess that's not really your job.

For the record, I would argue that we don't argue that much.

Ain't that the truth! Heck! I've been watching those Top 25 games of 2012, and some, since I couldn't remember the outcome, I watched as if the game was live. By the way, aTm beat Bama again last night...

Re: Interview With McClelland/Shreveport Times
I started watching the CFL games this week, being starved for football. At halftime, the talking heads started up. One of them is our own Matt Dunigan! He seems to be the Terry Bradshaw of the CFL! He is funny and insightful.

Fletch discussed this post this morning and gave BBB a shout out for it.

He holds a ton of the records in the CFL.
