And just to be clear, no matter how bad Holtz left the program, they should not give up 50+ points to McNeese and get blown out at home. That is on Taggart in my opinion. I personally thought he was a really good hire for them. So far, not working out at all.
I just don't remember USF having a strong program. They seemed like a decent 7-5 program to me. They never did anything in CUSA. Top 10 program? Like LSU, Florida, Alabama, Oregon? No way!

Dykes lefts holes in several places. At this point I don't think anyone can argue with that. Holtz was never going to be able to take this team and roll into the Top-25 or be near where we were last year on offense. Dykes killed us on the OL more than anywhere. That said there is no way on earth you can convince me we don't have enough talent on this roster to beat Kansas, Tulane and Army. And beat some of them comfortably at that. I don't know if things are going to get better under Holtz or not but it is obvious he is not cutting it this year.Quote:

In the second half they basically went man to man and dared us to beat them and the staff had NO answer -
As far as Kansas goes, if we play PERFECT we score a maximum of 30 pts on the road against a bottom 10 FBS program - that was just a bad exhibition of football on both sides and the team that sucked the least won...
The team was prepared until Young went down (9-7 lead at the Half; probably should have been 21-7 if we execute perfectly). Tulane took advantage of our young QB in the second half. We had no answer. I think Higgins had 47 yards passing or something like that (first game ever).
It's still on the staff to have the team prepared -

It's always on the staff... they could recruit better players or players who don't make mistakes. :D
of course Cal was down 41-0 halftime saturday ( defense sound familiar). I loved last years team, but we could not beat the 2 good teams at end. Our punting and O-line were great last yr and Patton-White were as good as any combo wr we have ever had -- I give coach a break on Kansas, 2 missed fgs, 2 fumbles inside 5 yrd line. He had solid gameplan and team was prepared. I know I am in minority on that one but I do not put that on coach. North carolina fumbles --lets all blame coach for that, everyone saw that coming , except me. Tulane and Army were embarrassing. I am sick, frustrated , semi-depressed etc --but I know he will be the guy for 2 yrs. It is what it is. I expect to see a double dose of King and Dixson this week-- I expect to see Defense play better--I expect fgs to be made and receivers catch the ball. I expect to win. I expect coaches to have a great game plan and beat someones ass for a change. The players and fans deserve it. I also expect everyone on BBB to always be happy, upbeat and forgiving --Quote:

I guess I don't know what y'all mean by "prepared." King probably wasn't "prepared" to jump offsides and drop an easy TD, which probably cost us 14 points. The word "prepared" appears to pass the buck to the coaching staff. But with a lead at halftime, despite the gaffes, indicates the coaches had us ready and in position to get the win with 1 half of play left. Maybe they didn't prepare us to show up in the 2nd half, but I noticed that when Higgins came in, we didn't get past midfield until Tulane went to the prevent defense. His first pass was a pick and his second pass hit a Tulane defensive lineman in the chest. He probaly wasn't prepared for that game. But the coaching staff probably wasn't prepared for Young to go down or prepared for how bad our line played, or prepared for how bad Higgins played.
...or prepared to prepare a team to play college football.
I thought this was funny... I googled "how to prepare for a football game"
1. Arrive at the stadium at least two hours prior to kickoff.
2. Find your locker. For home games, your locker will always be in the same location, with your name engraved on a plate above it. However, for road games, you'll have to search the locker room for your name written on a piece of tape.
3. Put your thigh pads and knee pads into your game pants. There are pockets sewn on the inside of the pants, and your pads slide into them easily.
4. Change out of your street clothes and into your jockstrap, game pants and T-shirt.
5. Get your ankles taped by the medical trainers in the training room.
6. Return to your locker and put on a pair of socks, cleats and gloves.
etc...
Funny, but that's all it should take to beat Tulane when they challenge you man to man.
