This is what we have become...
At least they went to the Bourbon Bowl.

Our S/C coach seems like a douchebag.
I also noticed the dude with the cut off sleeves. Looks absurd. Also noticed is the distinct lack of intensity and fire from the head coach all the way on down.
From TV it also looks like we only managed to get about 1/4 of the band to the game. I assume there is some bush league excuse having to do with quarter break and children wanting to go home to their mommies and Tech being unable to figure out how to keep a dorm open or heat up a burger for them to eat. Basically stuff you would never see in a million years from any other Division 1 school in the nation, ever.
This program is embarrassing in its current state.

Small time Louisiana at its finest.
THIS! Every other D-1 school's band/spirit squad/mascot/whatever would REQUIRE you to be there or you would get kicked out of the group. Thats how it works, period. Not at LA Tech though. We are weak and pathetic. This is a direct quote from a friend of mine that is close to the band: "It was a volunteer game. Many of the band members live outside of Ruston, and are with their families. Every band member that could make, was there."
Go Dawgs!
Baylor-OSU & Ole Miss-Mizzou, good games played by Universities that get it. Glad I didn't waste my time with small time Podunk U.....the Tech!
You guys are worried about the band?
We have much bigger fish to fry.
Skip doesn't even have enough sense to wipe the snot running out of his nose.
Let's focus on Skip's coaching, leadership, organization, motivational skills, etc. rather than his nose running. Happens to me all the time in cold weather.
Yes sir.
This is frustrating, frustrating football. What kind of recruit watches this game and gets excited to come to Tech?
Don't hate. Sometimes you gotta show off your slosh-pipes.
It is sad, there were more band members at the Techster game. I think there were more fans too. I wore my shirt to the game in honor of JuBru, but my wife asked me to keep it on the raps with my 10 year old there. Skippy needs to find something else to do with his time, he is mailing it in. How else would you explain that my son shows more pain and disgust for the games turn of events than the man in charge.
TMac tweeted a pic of Hester. He thought it was a great "tough" look. I guess tough has changed.
Who cares what Hester was wearing? Are you people serious? Worry about all the bush league aspects of our football program and our clueless leadership. Our program isnt going down the drain because the strength coach ripped his sleeves off on a cold night. And by the way, Hester is pretty damn tough. Most of you were probably sitting in your warm living room watching on tv. The other 500 attendees and I were fully dressed and were still freezing.
Obviously they have a fourth captain each week from special teams, so if you are saying rewarding good special teams play is bush league then I would question how much you really know. It is not like those guys are replacing the normal captains the team voted for.Quote:
We let Kendall Hayes be a game captain tonight. Being a captain used to mean something. At Southern miss we let Kyle freaking Fisher be a captain. REALLY HOLTZ?!? A redshirt freshman KICKER IS A CAPTAIN!!?!! A BACKUP DB IS A CAPTAIN?!?
I would say that the players on the sideline that don't play bust it during practice all week and year and deserve an opportunity to be on the sideline. Now for your "not being hype" comment, for me watching the game and having to sit through these what seem like 10 minute TV timeouts alone itself kills the vibe. As a fan or player you have to be somewhat distracted from the game while watching the dance cam or some other non football related promotion on the jumbotron. So it has to be tough to stay "hype" watching something as distracting as lets just say for example your "Sexy and I know it O-Line video" from last year (which was hilarious don't get me wrong). Also when your team is turning the ball over, not converting, and or not stopping the other team there is only so much "Hype" that can actually make a difference. To wrap that up I think those are "bush league" excuses about this team rather than something such as player execution. Just my thoughts...Quote:
And then my PERSONAL favorite, let's let everybody on the team dress out and stand around on the sideline shooting the bull. ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!
Go Dogs!
Bill definitely isn't here!
At least he is not wearing a flat bill hat. My faith in Tech has been somewhat restored.
Our part time sideline reporter was impressed with our S&C coach last night. All our S&C coach was missing was a hidden blood pouch like they used on Championship Wrestling back in the day.
If Holtz keeps this guy, it says how out of touch he truly is with the program.
I showed my wife and she said he looked "douchey" hahaha
The AD is okay with his attire, everyone else should be too.
I don't care how "tough" he is by ripping his sleeves off his polo. It was very unprofessional and I was embarrassed that he was representing our university. It may be a small detail but I think it reflects badly on our program.
Lol y'all are delusional. We're talking about FOOTBALL here. It's a game. As someone said earlier, Bill Belichick frequently wears a hoodie with the sleeves ripped off. Is he "unprofessional?" Maybe this is why we can't build something bigger and better if we're worrying about what color jerseys the players are wearing and what the strength coach does with his sleeves.
Little things matter, they all add up. While not necessarily a bid deal by itself it certainly adds to the list. Great programs care about and take care of the little things. We certainly seem weaker this year than in the last few.
"Douchey" would be the most accurate description I can think of as well.
Fair points and I'm sure most wouldn't care had this happened last year. Hester seems good on paper and has trained some notable players in the past. I don't get it. Are you sure it's on him? The defense had problems bringing people down last year with Harrington also. The o-line definitely seemed a lot tougher last year though.
There's not looking professional and there's looking like a complete moron while representing a university.
What bothered me the most was the fact that only about 1/3 of the band was there. THAT'S terrible as far as representing the university goes. Who allows this to continue and why do they still have a job at Tech? At least Hester was THERE and doing his job. Oh and the McAlister's sandwiches weren't actually McAlister's sandwiches. What's the deal with that?
Needs more mullet.
