You'd think someone would be in touch.

La Tech BBall tweets:
"First exhibition is in the books. We defeated the Pyramid Food Rockets 134-52. Qiydar Davis led the way w/a team-high 22 points & 8 boards"
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Did I just miss it or was it not viewable? I looked a few times. Was hoping to see our Dawgs in action.

The stats, play by play, etc. are up now when you click that link.

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Can someone post a link for today's game. The view link above does not work.

Well...
Live stats not working again...

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
No SID. No Dawgpix. No video team. No ESPN Bahama Blue series. No care. I did see iPhone pics from the AD and Speedy.

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
What is going on? The schedule had us playing the All-stars tonight. Multiple people keep saying UNC lost to the All-stars team the other day, but that isn't true; they lost to Providence Storm. Now there's a tweet saying we played Providence Storm today?
https://twitter.com/sporttours/statu...422659/photo/1
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
The tweet says "great game against the Providence Storm." I guess it is over and we won?
One of the other tweets says it is half time and we are up by 3. This is the team that beat NC a few days ago. I take back my comment that these guys are intramural at best.
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
It's at halftime. They (@LaTechHoops) have posted a few new tweets confirming that it is the Providence Storm that we are playing (the same exact team UNC lost to). The Providence Storm make up a part of a general Bahamas All-Stars team.
The score at the half is 39-36 Tech.
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
LA Tech Hoops @LATechHoops 11m
After three periods we are tied 63-63. One more 10-minute period to go against the Providence Storm.
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Still a tight game! We are up 74-72 halfway through the final period.

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
We have stretched the lead to eight now, leading 84-76 with 3:30 to go.

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
FINAL -- We defeated the Providence Storm 96-87! Last exhibition is tomorrow night at 8 pm CT vs. the PJ Stringers

Nice. Congrats Dawgs!!! So LA Tech beat the team that beat North Carolina 84-83 last Friday.
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Notes -- Rahee Appleby led the way with a team-high 21 points. Kyser and Davis added 16 and 14, respectively.
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Notes -- Speedy Smith nearly pulls off a triple-double with seven points, eight rebounds and 11 assists #WeAreLATech
Somehow, that doesn't look like a triple double to me. Failed to note the "nearly".

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Sounds like the last game the newbies took over but against tougher competition the veterans got it done.
Hang on kids. It's going to be a season to remember.
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Great job, DAWGS!!!!!!!!!
-
Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
Not to be a Debbie downer but the Providence Storm were beat by Ohio State 115-65.
These games are glorified pick up games. Definitely a positive. Especially this season. Will help us in the long run. Doesn't mean were are better than UNC or that we would get trounced by Ohio State.

It's August. AUGUST! And the Dunkin' Dogs are together for 10 practices and 3 games and a few days in paradise. Talk about a nice way to bring newcomers into a program.

I might be wrong but I believe I saw that Providence was without 3 or maybe 4 of their best players against Ohio State. In fact I read it on an ACC website that talked about them beating UNC. Certainly this trip is nothing more than a chance for this team to jell and bond but we are on the verge of a very, very, special season. Anything less than a trip to the dance is a failure in my opinion.

I agree. That was my not so well stated point.

I read somewhere that the Providence Storm team beaten by Ohio State was without some of the leading scorers from the team that beat the UNC Tarheels. I read articles about games in previous years some and they reported the rosters of these teams change - sometimes from game to game. These factors make it tough to do score comparisons against a common opponent to determine the better team.

I read that same article, but couldn't remember where until I saw your post. You beat me posting because I was trying to remember where I read it. A phone call slowed me down.
Added in edit: Thanks for helping an old man remember something - even though it is very insignificant in the scheme of things. Do you have a cure for senior forgetfulness of more important things?

Just so everyone knows Dayon was actually the one with 14. Tech hoops tweeted the above and then tweeted the box score which showed dayon with 14 and Davis with 9. Not a huge deal, but Isabella publish the mistake and so did the tech site. Not sure about other media outlets. Off season and a glorified practice, so no biggie, just wanted to make sure you all saw.

Well done Dawgs!
Now, is it true all this summer action is in addition to the regular practice number of days all teams will get? If so, that is awesome. We "stole" practice/playing time, and that is especially important for the new guys and for Appleby since he missed so many games last year.
I smell a Top 25 ranking coming....

Hope the regional media will give us some love, especially the ones in the state of Louisiana.

Glad to see Appleby regain confidence in his ankle - if he is healthy all year WATCH OUT!
Now we need to get Hamilton healed up

Re: Bahamas Summer of Thunder - Game Thread
The game at the Carrier Dome should be a good opportunity for our team to get noticed.

You can forget about getting any love from here. Gotta get our punches in elsewhere.

vs the Cuse? Hmmmm, last time we were there we rallied from an early, huge deficit, like 20+ pts in the first 10 mins to force OT. Byron Newton canned a 3 at the buzzer to force OT. Unfortunately, most of our starters fouled out and we came up short in OT. The Cuse was ranked #1 in the nation at that time.
This time we'll finish the job.
