Saw him in one of the post game celebration videos. He was jumping around; he didn't look hurt.
First series I thought "great--Tevin back" great series and then disappear. Then Connor doubles his year to date production- great and god bless him, Blake electrifies even the UAB with his hurdle and running. Wow-- we have some serious talent waiting to be unleashed
Martin was injured and didn't play in the UTEP, UTSA, and USM stretch of games, he also missed UNT earlier in the year. But he is back now as we saw (or listened) yesterday.
Both Martin and King need more touches. Hopefully our offensive gurus will realize that and game-plan them in going forward.
. Tv announcers were saying Coach gets concerned he has no regard for himself. He keeps telling him to look for blitzes etc - protect himself better. Sokol tells him " don't worry Coach". Of course later in first half he looked seriously injured ( on the interception)
Maybe Skip is just trying to hide Tevin until the Marshall game. No one will notice or remember one series.
We have used that formation several games but sparingly and with different personnell and have not been very successful. Usually Dixon is at TB spot and Seets is in FB spot. That was a great new wrinkle and hope to see it again. Seets is not a real good blocker so it doesn't really fit the way we we're using it. That is an example of good coaching for sure to switch something and make it work. We did not see these adjustments last year so I assume props to to Holtz.
Wish I could have seen it...:bigcry:
I saw a lot of Twitter angst over no tv so what exactly happened? Dish Network has never let me down.
Yeah, the game was supposed to be on 2 DirecTV channels, but it was pulled from one and blacked out on the other. Sounds like there probably were some establishments showing the game in the local area, but by the time I knew the game was blacked out it was too late to go find a place. First game in several years that I haven't been able to watch in person or on TV.
I found it surprising to see him be used so well for several plays in the first half, then he disappeared.
Gonna post it again...we need to game-plan both King and Blake Martin in for more touches. And not just on the opening drive, which I gather, was the case for the UAB game for King.
When Tevin King signed with Tech, Sonny Dykes really spoke highly of his abilities. There was a lot of talk at that time that he and Dixon would be a "thunder and lightning" combination, with King being a Reggie Bush type player in space. Obviously King was set back by the ACL tear, but the new coaching staff just hasn't used him since he came back from that. His size is a factor when running between the tackles constantly, but if he is that deadly in space, then you would think we could find a way to get the ball to him.
TK has had two bad injuries. Im sure hes gaining confidence mentally and theyre giving him the appropriate reps while forcing opponents to honor his weaponry. I wonder if they will accelerate his contribution a little bit more now.
The order of the plays went something like this, all on the opening drive. Fake to Dixon then sort of an "option" pitch to King for probably about 16 yds. Second touch was King in motion from the same set and a flare pass to him after faking once again to dixon, another large gainer. Next play, out of the same formation, Sokol give to Dixon for a nice gain. On that particular play, had Sokol kept the ball and run a true option between himself and King, it's a TD easy. we got the TD on the drive anyway, so it's a moot point. my guess is the staff saw all they needed to see and wrapped that up for another day. wouldn't be at all surprised if there are more wrinkles in that formation. I must say, it was extremely well executed also.

4 players touched ball on that drive - center, qb, king, dixon
