C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
Three of the nine new NFL Officials for the upcoming season are coming from C-USA, including the first woman - Sarah Thomas. I'm pretty sure Thomas has helped officiate some of Tech's games. http://americansportsnet.com/former-...tory-with-nfl/

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials

Guess the quality of NFL ref ain't going up anytime soon.

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
This is the NFL preparing for the blame game the next time the Saints win a Super Bowl.

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
I remember a female ref at some of our games; she didn't appear to have a flag or wasn't sure how it worked.

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
Kinda like a cop carrying a gun with no bullets

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
And she failed to call some holding calls (HCSH let her know) and a couple of off sides. Again she was made aware of it......

More women should be calling MBB games. It's the right thing to do

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
Need more women in Special Forces even though none have passed any of the physical tests.
-
Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
She's qualified. She worked some preseason games. I'm happy to see someone accomplish a goal especially one that goes against the "norms" that have been wrongfully placed upon a profession... good for her.

Yep, she is one of the best. Not only because she is a female, but also because she refuses to throw a flag when a mugging takes place right in front of her eyes.

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
The benefit of all of this is that we get new refs!

Benson handed a duffel bag to those refs at the 2011 Hawaii game. I saw it. It was right as halftime was starting in the north endzone, on the emergency access drive to the left (west) of the tron.

I'm sure she made a call in our favor at some point, too. Missed calls occur on every level of the game..it's part of the game..

You are sure why? Because she is a woman? Because it is cool to be PC? Because you don't actually know and you are just guessing?
I've watched her in a number of games. She NEVER throws a flag and scores high because she can't screw up remaining quiet.

It is called, keep lowering the standards.

Sounds like Obama's strategy when he was a congressman and voting present.

You seem to be the only one with a problem with the way she calls a game. Roger Goodell doesn't, nor did CUSA.. She obviously did just fine in the preseason games she worked. If this is simply the NFL covering their ass in reaction to the domestic abuse scandals that have come to light and she can't do her job, they'll deal with it.

Most referees are 60 year old men. I don't know what type of physical test you must pass to be a referee, but I'm sure it's a stamina thing and nothing more.

Nah, she will be a trend setter for the NFL and there will be a double standard for female refs just like that has been all along for her. And just like in most every other equal opportunity deal there will be a more qualified individual who didn't get the job because he was not a minority.

Re: C-USA Officials to Become NFL Officials
What is the quota for female referees?
Maybe no one before her has tried? Or maybe she is the first female that's actually good enough?

As much as I hope qualified women will be hired as NFL officials, I also hope people are smarter than to think more female officials = fewer female victims of domestic violence.

It's a double standard to expect perfection from a ref who happens to be female when the same is not expected of a ref who happens to be male. All officials should be held to the same standard.

I think it's more of a "we care about women" statement, if what I said is the case.

Statements? Double Standards?
What color ribbon do you wear for prostate cancer awareness?
(stirring the pot :argue:)
Lets hope she does a good job. Lets hope they all do well. (There were others hired, right?):D

Nope, it is today too. People would be shocked at some of the ways we discriminate these days. The govt. is doing it big time. Being qualified for the positions doesn't matter anymore.

Honestly, from way up in the stands, you can't really tell unless you pay super close attention.

The NFL players that were asked about the female referee said they didn't even notice
