Stunning! Breathtaking! Amazing! Awesome!

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
size, loudness, organization, timing, entertainment - by far the best I have ever seen - we should pay that band $150,000 to play in Ruston once a year.

Soooo true...After what just happened in Ruston, there should never ever be anymore talk about scheduling Northeast again. Southern every 2 or 3 years.

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
East side is unbalanced, need to extend the stands to close that gap. Do something similar on west side, although config would be a tad different.

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
BTW, what's that first song they played, title/artist? having a brain fart...

Are you referring to "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars? That's the one they "wrote" on the field.

Sounds like The New Radicals, "You Get What You Give".

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
I have been listening to marching bands play pop songs and have hardly found them recognizable. The Southern band looked great on the video but they sounded just like any other marching band to me. Too loud and fuzzy with too much drum line for any pop song.

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
They were really good. They certainly won the band battle as expected.

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
Awsome band! That's what a real college marching band is supposed to be like...imo. Big, brassy, and organized. The thing that I noticed was how disciplined the band was from the moment they began entering the stadium until I left while they were playing their alma mater at the end. Everything they did, they did it with precision and purpose. Awesome job. I vote too to have them come to Ruston once a year and put on a show. I'm glad I got to see them up close and personal.

In my opinion.....Southern had the best band....However our Regal Blues held their own. I believe the Regal Blues outperformed the Southern Band's dancing girls!!

Re: The Human Jukebox Video (Awesome shot of the Joe)
Should Tech schedule Southern as a regular opponent? Would Southern be willing? It is really nice to have a big crowd. We were entertaining my wife's family so I watched the game on TV. What is a reasonable estimate of the number of Southern fans?

I don't think you would get that big of a crowd, if we played every year. The novelty would wear off. After the lopsided score, they wouldn't bring as many next year. This time they wanted to show off their band and had hopes of being able to compete. I think every 3 years would be perfect! Get Grambling next year, if we want to schedule a FCS first game.

NSU, SU, GSU . . . should guarantee a good crowd if Tech continues to schedule 1AA every year. Play them in sequence and it shouldn't get old. Tech just can't lose any of the games.

That assumption is probably more in line with your fans. All I heard constantly Saturday night from Tech fans was "The stadium should be packed like this at every game"
Our bands isn't a novelty to us ( They are to Tech fans) and neither is playing in front a large crowd. We come to support our team and our bands wherever they are, under whatever circumstances and it's not predicated on whether or not we win or lose.
Strangely enough we still believe in the old adage it's "just a game" and we don't get discourage or lose sleep over a loss no matter what the score, that's why we were tagged the Jaguar nation.

Just FYI, I am a Tech guy, but cheer for the Jags too. I know the history well and have a degree from both Universities. The band was not a novelty to me. I understand it is to some of our fans, but don't forget that Grambling is right next door (although, most of us know that Southern has the better band).
All I was saying is that Southern would not bring as many people if we played every year. I am one of you too, but I know both programs well (and Tech is my true school, since I am a 4th generation Tech person). If we played every 3 years, I think Southern would deliver the most fans. I think we could expect about 2000 NSU, and about 4000 from Grambling, if alternating between the three. I, also, know that Southern is a program in demand for the entertainment value and the fans.
It was great to see the band again and awesome to see that Southern and Tech are both programs that I can be proud of for the classy fans. The score was about what I expected, but the atmosphere was awesome.
Thanks for being on our board, Statboy, I will be following the Jags the rest of the year - as always.
GO DAWGS!
