I just saw that on Twitter and thought I read it wrong! I have to admit I feel bad for them, and sure wouldn't have seen that coming.
Anyone with insight know where they're looking? Promotion from within to try to hold their class together?
Making our non hire and non interview look better.
Any chance to steel back some recruits? Sucks for USM this close to signing day and I am curious as to who would take the HC job now as all of the named coaches have been hired.
Dantzler has already tweeted that he is still firm to USM "so don't call me". Some baaaad decisions being made by kids just before signing day.
That's the first thing I thought when I heard about it. There is no way anyone can make me believe he could not have waited a week to announce this. That program is going to be screwed. I am so glad he wasn't here to do that to us! I am sure the fans are going nuts- don't blame them. Either way, the new commits/signees are not going to be very happy.Quote:

Well guys, it has been a Twilight Zone kind of day. Got up this morning to read about three nice commitments and more on the way. Feeling like the dark days were over and recruits were pushing to come to USM instead of running and hiding from our coaches like they did the last few years.
Not sure what will happen now, but I hope that our AD doesn't panic and make a quick hire. While we will probably lose some commitments, better to do that than hire another 0-12 head coach. Good thing this happened on Sunday and my local pub was closed. Might still be there enjoying too many adult beverages. Oh well, good luck with your signing class. As always, the best to you guys.
On a serious note, we feel for you guys. Same thing happened to us a few years ago when a very successful head coach at LA Tech named Gary Crowton left Tech for the Chicago Bears during the week of NSD. I was PISSED!Quote:

Don't forget the part that he left right after talking us into signing all the assistant coaches to one year contracts to keep stability. Then we couldn't fire them all because we couldn't afford to pay them, so we hired from within. Crowton did it to protect his Utah buddies from possibly being unemployed when he bolted. I really don't like USM, but I do have respect for them. My dislike goes back many years to the Brett Favre era. They are #3 in their state and they do very well despite having 2 SEC schools in the state.

I think southern miss has been a good blueprint for tech the last 20 years getting better in D1. everyone wants to be boise state and I get that, but until the ellis johnson disaster, this team won around 7 to 9 games most years and was always in a bowl. they do it in a relatively small town (although bigger than ruston) and they aren't the biggest fish in the state, unlike boise. I think it is a bit like looking in the mirrorQuote:

It really makes you wonder if the leadership in Ruston is just clueless, or is it deliberate? This step is long overdue. Naming streets is a local matter. Terry Bradshaw Avenue is a great concept.
I actually discussed this with Hollinsworth about 3 years ago and got positive feedback, but we see nothing happened! I feel that Ronny is a doer and loves Tech so I'm in hopes that he will actually try!!!! Maybe Dr Guice will get behind it!
We should also look at a bronze statue of TB just outside the DAC!!!! HD and I saw some of their football greats at OU outside their stadium on one of our Harley trips! They can't be that expensive, the Sooners have about 8 or 9 of them!
