Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
Love that DJ Jackson video! Not only is he a strong DE (look at all of the fumbles he caused), but he also looks like Craig "Ironhead" Heyward on some of those runs. He could be the answer on 3rd and 1 offensively.

BREAKING: West Mesquite DB Dayven Coleman (@ROADS2GREATNESS) has decommitted from Louisiana Tech. Still a top school for him.

No surprise... His announcement did not sound solid from the beginning. He stated in his tweet, "as of now". Who knows, maybe it works out.

Of course commitments will change over time, but currently LA Tech has Rivals' #50 ranked football recruiting rank with our four commitments from the Dallas metro area.

Commitment #5 is Wayne Toussant, 5-10 160 ATH from Plaquemine, LA HS. As you can see in his video he plays both sides of the ball and returns kicks WR/RB/DB/Returns.

TCU is getting some good players again out of our back yard in Rogers (Parkway Bossier City) and Stephens (Logansport). We've got to keep getting good Texas players to balance that out.

Kansas apparently has a Louisiana pipeline, and I find this troubling. Surely we could beat out KU for a couple of LA kids.

Yeah, he'll probably end up at TCU. It looks like LSU is a horrible option for Bolden, if it's really even an option at all anymore. But if he does choose LSU, I'd bet he'd transfer to Tech within a couple years. Hopefully Skip and Burroughs can use J'Mar to our advantage and make Bolden a Bulldog from the beginning.

Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
He can't play baseball at Tech or TCU. He is an inside receiver and a great football player. No place for him under Orgeron.

Commitment #15 is in for LA Tech in the form of West Monroe MLB Jacob Adams 6-0 215. Adams is a good one.
The other WM linebacker last year, now a Sr., Class 5A Defensive POY JB Gullatt goes free of Tech offers right now. He took a tour of Army and others in New England during the summer. High ACT score. I'd personally love to see him come to Ruston. He has so many intangibles.

Adams and Gullatt are both better than the 5th year guy COYHCSH thought so highly of last year. The one who flunked out of basket weaving and you could time with a sun dial.

Maguire ( #3) had some real nice catches tonight against Northwood High. I think he caught every pass thrown his way. Nice running after catch too. He's 5, 11" 165. Had a couple of nice runs on handoff to receiver in motion too.
Northwood has a big defensive lineman 6'4" 294 lb. sophomore (#99). Plays very aggressive for a big guy. Hope Tech is looking at him. Northwood has a tough RB too (didn't get his #). Sophomore QB had a good game... has a very quick pass release.

Can't be worse than 10 more years of Holtz.
Not that I am a huge JMar fan but he's not the problem here - it's not JMar's job to decide if JMar is good enough to play QB for Tech.

This is true, but the QB position IS the main problem. No matter how you parse it, a change needs to be made, whether it be with another QB or within the current QB.

I do agree. Just saying that the reason it's a problem is because the HC is a stubborn mule.
-
Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
Here's what I don't get about J'Mar. He can make all the throws, he's mobile enough and shows flashes at times. He has the potential to be a good college QB but he's playing like crap.

He needs to decide if he wants to play football or baseball and go with that decision! The time he is devoting to baseball could be used to work with his receivers. Throwing the ball in the dirt in front of them or over their heads is not going to work.
Also, who is now the "HEART" of this years team???? In the past it was Hunter Lee and then Trent Taylor. This year....NADA...NOTHING!!!

So did the other QBs go out last year and work with receivers in an "unorganized practice" during baseball season? Is that the norm? Interesting... I didn't know they did that.
Boston Scott is a leader. Hotlz refuses to start him, which tells the rest of the team he does not think Scott is a leader. Holtz is a horrible judge of leadership, heart, and real football players. Apparently though, he is great and picking out "rock stars".

#99 is a sophomore.(Corey Marshall); Both RB's at Northwood are seniors and both can play.; Bruiser is #10(Deshantric Watson), Quick/scat is #26(Malik Wilson). QB is a sophomore too. #2 Luke Bogan. Bogan is in the top 5 passers for yardage/completions in the state of LA. Three receivers at Northwood are in the top 7 in receptions and receiving yards. #11 Lacedric Smith is the only senior though.(leads team in receptions)

Read some of my post and you will know I am not Mr.Negative, I am open your dang eyes Skip and Tommy. I believe Skip has taken a perfectly set up year and let it slip away by being stubborn and too conservative, don't think I have ever called for skips firing, but have called for some changes and dismissal of the OC. Tommy has also done his part to turn game day into a not so fun and expensive day for many of the middle class families and and a good portion of the students as well.
Yes, some of the people not attending are fair weather fans, there are others who often attend and bring others with them that are not attending right now either.
You can't call everyone who does not show up a fair weather fan, some are very committed but are just frustrated at what they are watching, they just cannot watch it every weekend. You cannot deny that a season like this one does not have multiple impacts.
Congrats on being a fan for so many years, you are faithful and I do appreciate and respect you for that. I am not a fair weather fan, been making games since my freshmen year in 1982, only made three this year due to health issues an usually miss some every year due to the work I do now, just no way around it. When my boys were young, I brought them and other kids up to almost every home and Shreveport game and some away from 1998 through 2008, and just my immediate family the years after that. I am also Enrolling my Daughter in Tech this fall along with two others I recruited and convinced to come to Tech. IS THAT WHAT YOU CALL A FAIR WEATHER FAN?
Before you start calling every one who did not attend or has criticized or complained a fair weather fan, you should realize some of us are more vocal than others and do notice such things as play calling and terrible game day planning and marketing snafus. Some of us are fairly knowledgeable about TECH, we just have a different opinion from you, but that Damn sure does not make us fair weather fans.
The exodous....that is pretty easy to see, this program was marketed as a 7 home game, bowl bound, conference championship, rock star QB team that was going provide for a very exciting year. Those that bought in to it purchased season tickets, season long advertising, the city of Ruston and it's business' made plans, this year was marketed as banner year for program and city, it did not work out. I would think some sponsors will think twice about the value of supporting TECH Football next year when asked to sign a season long contract.
Football prospects and signee's are watching, this season has an impact on their decision making..
As far as feeling sorry for me and others like me, DON'T!

I’ve been watching Tech football longer than you have but I don’t feel the need to go around crowing about it every time someone offers up a dose of reality, which is sometimes going to be negative.
You go ahead and keep your head in the sand, your grandkids will be looking at a Tech program in the same place it is now when they get to be your age.

I could not agree more with what TECHLAX has stated. This was the fifth year for this program under HCSH and from this great seven home game schedule, the new pressbox and the effort the City of Ruston put forth under Mayor Walker this was a great opportunity to build and increase the core fan base for the future. All they had to do was deliver an entertaining and exciting product on the field and they blew it. It did not have to be a perfect (7-0) product just one that generated excitement and hope for the future. It was a miserable failure and a blown opportunity.
They will now try to cover it up and recover with a probable Independence Bowl appearance. This is truly where "misery loves company". A bowl game that has caught another lifeline from a sponsor (Walk On's) will now try to somehow put a real 25-30K in the seats. They will only be able to do that with Louisiana Tech. The most likely opponent will be a UCLA, Boston College, Louisville or Florida State. I would welcome the challenge of meeting any of those teams in a bowl game with any of the Bulldog teams that has won the last three bowl games. Paying to see this 2017 team in a matchup with Louisville, etc? I didn't turn college athletics into a business, the colleges did that. That's ok, I love to see a business succeed. Their business is entertainment and people use their discretionary dollars to watch and enjoy it. Good luck with marketing this show.

Hey, I was just super excited that I woke up this morning, being bowl ELIGIBLE is just the cherry on top!
I am just afraid of actually going to a bowl in a way, do not want to see our guys and program possibly get embarrassed on national TV. The Armed Forces Bowl was rated one of the most exciting bowl games on TV last year.

Today LA Tech received a commitment from 3-star safety Isaiah Windmon 6'-2" 190 of John Ehret Marrero, LA.

Windmon is ranked by Rivals as the #31 recruit overall from the state of Louisiana this year and the #43 ranked DB nationally.

However, I'm concerned that we haven't received any WR commits yet. At least not according to the rivals link below. We need WR's. And a lot of them. Especially if they keep going down with injuries as often as they did this year.

We have a couple of studs Redshirting this season in Hebert and Williams plus return everyone from this year who has contributed minus Watts. I'm more concerned that we have very few OL and DL so far. We only signed 2 OL last year I believe and we are obviously lacking in talent there.

Yes, we are fine at WR for next year (and we have a few really good recruits that we're hoping to keep away from P5s). The OL and DL (and LBs too) are much harder to recruit/sign. Its similar to big men/women in basketball- the 'big schools' sign up all of the good ones; normal sized people are a lot easier to find/sign due to more available supply.

Re: Recruiting Class of 2018
After early signing day we will have lots of people to discuss and how they will improve our team.
The elephant in the room will Tim/Skip make the improvement needed at the quarterback position by J'Mar "getting" it or by making a change.
We will also have to what transfers we will get and any late additions. The glasses are already turning blue and this is without a bowl win. Enjoy this time .
