Joel osteen not opening church to flood victims
IF TRUE, does this bother you guys as much as it does me? Forgive me but I've always doubt his sincerity as well as didn't think much of his seldom reading from the scriptures/Bible or quoting Christ in his sermons (Just a health and wealth type of preacher).

I've never been a fan of Olsteen and in general not a big fan of megachurches with really high profile pastors. I have heard that there were safety concerns for people getting to the building or people staying in the building and that is why they are not letting people shelter there. If there are not legitimate reasons for keeping people out though this is the epitome of slimy.

John Oliver did a good video about those types of televangelists. When he's not obnoxiously going after Trump, his show does some great research and brings some very concerning stuff to light, one example being how these televangelists work.

I totally agree- but still, do you know what he has done for Houston and it's people during the storm? I can't believe he found anyone to sit in the congregation myself, but we don't know what he is or isn't doing here. I hope he is actually spending some of that ill gotten money to help the people.

If you have a little charisma and you can talk the talk, evangelism is a good way to get rich quick. Osteen is worth over 50 million. Just send them your money and they'll get you to heaven. Just don't screw up like Jim Baker did, but, Jimmy Swaggart did make a comeback. You can get Swaggart on your radio just about anywhere in the south. He's good for laughs if you're on a long trip.

I have a huge IF TRUE, prior to my post above. His heath and wealth sermons might be good for those that are still eating baby food and looking for only hope and nothing else IMHO. I agree with DFM and Rhythmdawg however.

I don't think his sermons are good for anybody and they've done FAR more damage than refusing to house refugees. His appropriately named Best Life Now is the most honest thing he's ever put out.

I commented on your post, but if you read mine, I think you will see I was talking in general and mentioned FB as well. People everywhere are slamming the man and church without knowing the truth. I think he was to be on Good Morning America to tell his side today as well. I think he is a crook as well, I just think people ought to know what they are talking about before slamming people
