I was hoping that clown (Coach O) would last until at least next season, so we could give them a beat down. But, I'm not even sure he'll make it to the end of this season. He's awful.

Here is a tweet from Troy University.
Hey @LSU, thanks for having us down for homecoming! We really enjoyed it! https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/72x72/1f601.png

My goodness! I did note that the one posting the TECH is the new flagship was listed as a La Tech fan though. I hope that this downfall is not too early for our game next year.

I didn't look at their score yesterday, so I am celebrating now!!!!!!! Our game made my night and now this one made my Sunday!!!!!!!!! I am smiling ear to ear!!!

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
There's a fan on the LSU forum called Tigersince65 who is calling tigger fans idiots for panicking and over-reacting... (;))
They spent $13 million to buy-out Miles-from-Nowhere, and it'll cost $12 million to buy out Ed Oregano (spice it up!). Any CFB fan with an ounce of sense knew this was a horrible hire for LSU. I just hope they allow him to stay long enough to do some serious damage to that program.

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
Troy will always have that HUGE win over a RANKED SEC team on their list of accomplishments like ULM does with their win over an Arkansas team that finished 4-8.

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
Guys, we are lucky. We could have played Troy last night and gotten absolutely pasted.

Yep. We won. But it wasn't perrty.

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
I was thinking during the game we are not very good this year. Any win is a good win, and that is true. But, heck, LSU lost to a Belcher. Ole Miss got pasted 66-3, Tenn lost at home 41-0. Moo State got pasted 49-10. CFB has more parity now than at any other time in history. We like to say, well, we didn't play very well, blah, blah, blah...but how about South Alabama did play well!? Their front 7 is stout. They don't have great depth and eventually wore down, especially in the 4th qtr. But, when fresh they were beating us on the LOS. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other guys and say "good job."

History being what it is, State will be Top 5 and National Champion contenders next year. Happens every time we play them.

They do have a ton of freshmen seeing significant playing time. With any kind of coaching at all, those great athletes should be fine by September, 2018. LSU is never short on 5-star talent. Doesn't take a lot to get them to win some games.

We also had a lot of very poor FIELD POSITION last night. It seemed like we spent the entire 3rd quarter inside our own 10-yd line. We just couldn't dig ourselves out.
Even though South Alabama punted 6 times (for 39-yd avg), we only had one (1) punt return for just 5 yards. Teddy Veal has got to do better than that, or we need to put someone else back there returning punts. Meanwhile, Tech used 2 different punters to punt 4 times for a 37-yard average. That's high school punting stats at best. Also, Barnes was 2 for 3 (66.6%) in kicking FG's last night (he missed a 43-yarder), and the South Alabama kicker was 3 for 3 (100%).
Bottom line, we need our kicking/punting game to perform much better than they did last night, and we need them to "flip the field for us".

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
1) Below is LA Tech's STARTING field position on each drive in the 2nd half last night:
Tech 19
Tech 28
Tech 12
Tech 10
Tech 11
USA 27
Tech 26 (End of Game)
WOW! With the lone exception of that 6th drive --which was caused when USA tried to convert a 4th down and failed-- Tech had miserable starting field position the entire second half. In fact, LA Tech's average starting field position for those first 5 possessions in the 2nd half was their own 16-yd line. That leaves a long field to cover.
2) And below is LA Tech's starting field position for the last two drives of the first half:
Tech 1
Tech 11
WOW! This means LA Tech had an average starting field position of their own 13-yd line for SEVEN (7) CONSECUTIVE drives!
Holtz has got to address this. We're lucky we survived this.
-
Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
COYHCSH has never considered the punting to be important. His punt receiving strategy is to have a good "fair catch" guy back there.

That rule of thumb about the 10 yard line on punts should apply on kickoffs too. Put our returners on the 10. If it goes over your head, let it fly. Take your chances that it's coming out to the 25.

I keep thinking that we are not that bad either. I think our offense is the problem only because they get mental mistakes through-out the game. I actually think our defense is pretty darn good this year because we have given all of our opponents problems for most of the game. Our losses came because well...the defense could not contain late in the games. We had a competitive game in the 1st half against Miss St and were beating South Cacalackie for most of it. The offense has to do their part on 'defense' by sustaining drives and eating clock AND cutting down the mistakes. I do like our offense more and more and the Learfield guys on the call last night were very complementary of J'Mar about his poise and calm even in tough moments.

Hey Hog Dog you should email the coaches and tell them to take the electric Teddy veal off punt returns

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
It's a wake-up call for programs like ours. Easy to take " lesser " teams and conferences like last nite for granted. We nit pick wins over teams we assume are inferior-- I find myself walking out of 18-- 30 point wins disappointed -- coaches job is to win-- not impress fans.

Except, unlike punts, kickoffs are live balls. If our returner doesn't catch the ball, and it doesn't go into the end zone, the opponent can scoop and score. So, that's not a very sound plan you have.

Actually, it's a coaches job to do BOTH. That's how you draw fans to the next game. Just saying......

Good point. So just learn to block then. Shouldn't be too hard.

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
Still alive and smiling. LSU got dominated at the line of scrimmage by Troy. Let that sink in. LSU's qbs wouldn't start on most high school teams.
As for Techs win, they played a good game against an opponent that played hard and nothing to lose. I was happy with the O line play and play calling. Our D was a little shaky in the first half but settled in nicely. Boston Scott and Teddy Bear are our best O threats.
As for all the kick and punt returns, I am fine with Teddy calling fair catch everytime. Less chance for a turnover. Kick return should be if it is caught in the enzone take a knee. Otherwise run like a crazy man, just hold on to the ball.
We have a good young team that are only going to get better.
My last thought is on JMAR running. Do slide feet first, just dive away from the defender or god forbid run over some dbacks. Your 6 3 and 220 and not fragile, so run the ball like a running back and you have less chance of getting hurt. You are more likely to get hurt giving yourself up instead of applying the hit by running hard.
Overall a great weekend of football.

I agree with you about J'Mar sliding. Sliding looks more dangerous to me than running through the play. He's bigger than most of the players trying to tackle him. My high school coach always said you were most likely to get hurt when you went half speed.

While my section and I were thrilled that LSU lost to lowly Troy (trust me, it gave me great fuel to use against my co-workers), Myles Brennan is the all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns in Mississippi high school history. Think about that: He's the top QB from a state that has produced Brett Favre, Steve McNair, and Archie Manning among others.

What is really dumb is to take what is obviously a TIC remark seriously.

Losing to a SBC opponent is all part of the plan for LSU to become USL since USL became ULL but goes by UofL. However UofLULl is really not holding up their end of the bargain because if you are UofL then you can’t go losing to ULM aka NLU who will now want to say that they should be called UofL and deserve an SEC invite over the other UofLULL because they have more recent wins over SEC opponents. All the while LSU is thinking they could dominate in the SBC but still not realizing that you don’t win games just because you are better on paper but that coaching and execution are important. However, UofLULL can’t come to grips that there coaching has been suspect for some time now. Of course we know that wanna-be UofLULM will soon go lay some butt-stank fooseball in SBC conf games and discredit their argument to be the next UofL and LSU-USL will get molested by top tier SEC opponents. Tulane is too lame to bring into the discussion. All that to say Tech will be the only LA D1 program with a winning record this year.

Re: LSU falls to The Sunbelt!
Things could turn out well. usl fires Hud and lsu fires O. They trade head coaches and both those guys gain a lot of free cash while both teams get worse. O gains a team that can understand what he is saying and lsu gains a coach that carries himself they way lsu thinks their coach should. The world could be fine for those two and TECH could emerge as the real winner in all this.
