TAC Tailgating Policy
In case some of you didn't know, they are continuing last year's policy of not allowing anyone on the hill after 8 AM, unless you have a red (or higher) parking pass. I personally won't be doing a tailgate this year, as sitting on the hill for 10 hours prior to kickoff is not really a good use of my time.

Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
I love my Louisiana Tech, but we do ALL WE CAN, seemingly, to retrograde. We had good inertia going a few years ago, and now we're heading back to making it hard for people to enjoy football.
-
Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
I think TMAC is a plant, by evil-doers, bent on destroying Tech Football. They know they couldn't compete fair and square, so they use this clandestine, infiltration tactic.
-
Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
all you people that live farther out than 70 miles from campus have to take Friday off to drive over and put up your tents and set up your grill. Unbelievable.
-
Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
TMAC Tailgating Policy= you little people get out of the way...... I have 6 people who want to park in those suite parking spots this year...... If a Southland conference team wanted to trade us a washing machine and a dryer for our AD I would take it in a heart beat. Least something would work how its supposed to.

Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
Would some responsible person with common sense and pull please step in and solve this very solvable problem? Like others have said, we were making progress with the student attendance. This has set us back 20 years.

Good grief--I would love to have you face to face with Coach and AD-- heck, even my friend Salmon-- would you say any of the negative crap to their face?? count on you for negative posts --

Or start hiring Tech organizations through SGA.

Read the below response to see how flippant those types of people are.

I have spoken with Solomon regarding this issue. I have also let him know several other people that will not be able to tailgate on the hill this year. He knows that I am frustrated with this policy. Why not just set the limit to 5 hours prior to kickoff? That is when the shuttle starts to run, before Bulldog Village opens, and about when they used to start policing the parking passes. I guess that makes too much sense for us to do it. And now that I've mentioned it on BBB, it will never happen...

....I can't speak for PD, but I personally tell Solomon Randle (if that's who you are referring to) these things ALL THE TIME. Face to face. Over lunch. Over dinner. At ball games. At restaurants. At a lot of places. Solomon knows they aren't perfect. The AD has received an earful from me too.
Quit acting like someone is afraid to talk to Solomon or the AD face-to-face.

Chill out. Soloman knows our AD is a goofball. He and his peers had to listen all the BS last year. I'm sure they are excited to be going through the same thing again

Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
I really don't give a damn, I'll show up at 11 and park in the gravel lot by the tac. I wouldn't even ask for a washing machine, I'd give Tmac away

Used to do that. Used to be all we looked forward to.
That was back then. Before family tailgates were ignored, then priced out, then runned off.

I don't think we could give him away at this point even if we threw in a washing machine.

It's about knowing your audience, and building off of it with new clients. He trashed the family and student atmosphere that had been building, to cater to, a much smaller although well heeled group. It would have been a fairly simple fix to keep the area the same and full of families, students, and the relatively small loyal group of alums who are always there, and still have catered to the suite holders etc.

Perhaps I'm not a typical graduate / fan of La Tech, but I am thankful for the what the education did to prosper my career and life. I love Tech and want to see our academics continue to be outstanding, our enrollment soar, our athletic teams win, our fan experience improve, and larger crowds bring financial benefits. Although it is more than a 2,000 mile round trip, for quite a few years i have planned my travel schedule to attend 2-4 home games in Ruston and spend vacation money there. The tailgate experience at Aillet stadium had become something i really looked forward to, but also noticed that something had changed last year. The atmosphere was flat and the tailgate experience had taken a huge backwards step. I made a decision to not go back this year, and it is not because of the coaching by Skip Holtz, nor the effort of most of these fine young men who represent my school. While I am disappointed that we don't have a quarterback in charge that is leading the team as we have been accustomed, I am even more concerned that we don't appear to have leadership at the AD position to achieve Tech's potential and promote fan support. Ruston is a fantastic small town, and La Tech is great. I sincerely want Coach Holtz to succeed with this program. At the same time i understand why so many who love Tech like I do are frustrated with the status quo, given our tradition and potential. My hope is that things will change, and a new energy can unite team performance, wealthy donors, tailgate events, and large attendance crowds. I want to come back to Aillet, join you in tailgating, and along with them cheer the Bulldogs to championship wins!

Great perspective! You should forward a copy of this to LG.

Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
I hope that this can be shared with the proper person . This is a fine example of what poorly thought out changes can do. The flat part is so true and will deter new fans along with old ones as well. I have a son who lives in Houston who went to Tech and all homes games and to all of the bowl games and this year he will only be a 2 !

Good post. It was embarrassing to me to see most of the students leave at half-time as a protest. And those are the ones who at least showed up for the first half. I know there were many students who quit going altogether.
-
Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
The students at most stadiums are the ones setting the tone for the atmosphere of the game. If we deter students from tailgating, of course many won't show up at the game. The tailgating last year felt empty. I'm not really looking forward to going to tailgate this year if it feels the same as last year.

Thanks for that insight from an out of town fan, and a dedicated one at that.
You are completely right about enthusiasm being flat, and it carries over to the students and fans then the game and then on to the supporting Alumni.

You obviously haven’t been following our sage brown noser D65. He’s got a scholarship named after him you know. We have a great AD, great HC, great S&C coach, and rock star QB. And if you disagree you’re not a real fan.

Yes, it wouldn’t take too much thought to resolve the issue. If you want to cater to the suite holders have valet parking, wouldn’t take much to accomplish. Leave the rest of the tailgating experience the same....For a school that is known for it’s engineering program we have very few if any creative problem solvers in administration.

The tailgating at LA Tech is over-policed and underappreciated.

IMO, I think we should have made this the thing back when Ronny Walker was at Tech. Tailgate Alley has changed the game day atmosphere at Tech for the better. However, I feel we would have been better off to have designated some spots on campus and run a trolley down to The Joe. We could have tailgates in both areas.

Well you aren’t my dad, but this post could have come from him as well. 8 year season ticket holder, and 5 of those years driving from Houston every game is ending this year.

I'd be happy to tell the AD to his face, but he wont show it. He doesn't return calls or emails either. He's a snooty, stuck-up snob and has no time for the little people who dont even have schollies named for them.
Is your friend Salmon smoked or sautéed?

I don't think anyone on here would have a problem voicing our concerns to the admin. I will say this though, Tmac may not respond, but I have always got a well thought out and prompt response from Dr. Guice!

NSU grads make more money combined in our athletic department than grads of any other school, including Tech.

I wouldn't have any problem with that if they were better than the grads of any other school.
Which so far does not appear to be the case.

Re: TAC Tailgating Policy
There are pitfalls for hiring your own people too often, but I like in a lot of support positions inside athletics we need a few more home grown. We aren't super competitive in pay, part of that is the way Louisiana has the system set up, but a competitive salary there are Tech grads who would come back and make a career of bettering out school and programs. They would also be in touch with what makes Tech great, and have a vested interest in growing the brand for the brands sake, and not as a rung up the ladder.

Hopefully in the NE corner. With this view behind 'em. But hopefully closer down to the field.

Good view PD but I meant if the show was at Tech. They seem to always be outside of the stadium in a public area on campus like the Quad or perhaps better where Wisteria goes by Tolliver/Tonk with the tower plaza as a back drop.

The only apology you'll get is when TMac decides to leave the smoldering wreck for greener pastures.

His best bet is a FCS conf commissioner or a G5 asst commish
