McClelland to Ole Miss?
It looks like our A.D. may be working hard to get out of Ruston.

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
I think he'd be a good fit for Ole Miss. Seriously.

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
It would be a huge loss to Louisiana Tech. He’s one of the best ADs in the country under the age of 39.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
I believe he has his hopes set too high. He'd be a much better fit in a swac or southland a.d. job.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
Just go, I got $1000 to ltac when his ass is out of Ruston.

High school...oh, you covered that by mentioning the SWAC.

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
Losing Tommy would be a big loss. To any Ole Miss fans lurking, he's the best AD in the world. Tell your president that you want him.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
The disturbing part this is if our AD is working on getting a new role he cannot be putting all efforts on his current role. Now that he shows up for another "opportunity" I would like to see him go.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
Every time we sign a super star one of these big money schools swoops in and steals them! Losing Tommy would have an immeasurable effect on Tech Athletics.

I concur.

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
So our overpaid AD is whoring himself out to get out of Ruston while our baseball and softball facilities need to be rebuilt after the tornado.
This shit head needs to be fired a long time ago.

Right. Dude wants to leave; help him make it happen.

In fairness to Tommy, the list for the Ole Miss job was put together by a writer just hours after that job came open. It's just speculation on his part.
At the same time, there is a level of respect for Tommy within the athletic administration world to where his name is going to come up for openings like this, whether he's seeking the job or not.

I believe the same was true about the Memphis job.

Correct. The list put together by the Commercial Appeal was just hours after Tom Bowen was fired. It was just speculation on the part of that writer, as well.

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
He's been seeking another job since he left Lk Ck...in fairness to Tommy:icon_roll:

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
T-Mac's greatest achievement seems to be that he is young. It's the only accomplishment they ever list for him in these articles.
In most businesses, youth is a problem. You want people with good, solid experience, and that typically takes many years to build. But for some absurd reason, college athletic programs seem to think youth is a good thing. Never mind the colossal mistakes these "young people" often make due to inexperience (e.g., the Tyler Summit hire, etc...)

I agree with everything you said except the implication that he has not accomplished anything. He and LG finished some longtime projects (tac video board, DAC) and another big one (press box). That's not to say others couldnt have done the same thing, but I think he gets some credit. His coach picking ability definitely seems suspect.
Our next AD needs to be somebody with some ties to the university, some know-how and an ability to baby sit the young asst AD types. The biggest problem with these young dudes is they don't have an interest in Louisiana Tech in ten years. I'm just not sure they get sick to their stomach like die hards after a disappointing end to a season so long as the team won enough games to look attractive on the ADs resume.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
I'm not sure I care that much if they have ties to Tech. I want the best guy for the job. Maybe they're a Tech guy, maybe not. Just need to be professional and willing to fight for us.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
I want a guy who can go in a room and come out with a deal that favors Tech instead of making sure the others get well healed from any agreement we make on who we play and when. Learn to walk away when someone offers us 80% of what others are making for body bag games. Don’t schedule ANY SEC opponent in a sport other than football without a 1 for one deal in place. Make sure all games at P5’s have neutral refs or CUSA refs. Play hard ball and shoot for the moon and be prepared to walk away.
-
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
You only need someone not looking for his next job and to make friends that may can help advance his career!

Exactly. He can spin the crappiest of things into a resume builder for him.

Marty Cordaro. President and General Manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, in Omaha, NB. Marty is a Ruston native and LA Tech grad.
Cordaro moved to Omaha in 2007, joining the organization as assistant general manager before being promoted to the general manager role the next year. Cordaro was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame Community Service Award in 2015,[4] was named the Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year in 2014[5] and Baseball America Minor League Executive of the Year in 2013.[6]
This is the next guy in line for LA Tech. Marty knows contracts well, because he deals with 'em every day. He's a leader, an expert at marketing, and he loves LA Tech. And after a very productive decade as a Triple-A minor league baseball executive, he would be a great pick. Assuming we can still afford him now.

Speaking of contracts, we have a few that will be ending. I doubt Tommy will be gone anytime soon. I don't feel very confident in his negotiation skills.

Do you have a value of the Learfield contract?

I thought our AD had already redone that one. Wasn't it tied to the new video board in the TAC?

Try this...https://lla.la.gov/PublicReports.nsf...E/0001B158.pdf (Page 19)
and for comparisons on what we may be targeting, try this
https://espn1420.com/cajuns-learfiel...hts-agreement/
and this
https://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/topic/125760-drc-unts-deal-with-learfield-to-bring-in-more-than-1-million-annually/
Ok, I'm going back into hibernation over at bleedtechblue.

Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
Scary thing is we still have $1.344 million in debt associated with the football and basketball boards and the guaranteed revenue stream expires this year -
We are fixing to find out what type of negoitator he truly is with the Learfield and Addidas contracts expiring and we KNOW what ULL and A-State just reupped for

Re-did the note only with Origin Bank - if memory serves me correctly

Hahaha, not too bad actually. So I’m gonna say this once and then drop it. BTB works very hard reaching out to recruits, attending nearly every football practice, researching stats, writing stories, reaching out to his contacts in the program, etc, etc. He probably doesn’t get near enough out of the venture to justify all the work he puts into it. I wouldn’t even expect people to come discuss things on that board instead of here, because the community here is great. But someone could cancel their CUSA.tv subscription, subscribe to Bleed Tech Blue, and still save a couple of bucks. Then all they’d have to do is take a couple of minutes every few days to check out BTB for any goodies and spend the rest of their time here chatting it up. BTB has..
Commits before guys post on Twitter
Info on how recruits are leaning
Info on recruit visits
Daily offseason football practice reports
Players leaving and transferring in
Future schedule details in all sports (and contract details)
Extremely detailed football stats from Pro Football Focus like individual player grades by game and detailed stats like passing stats by where the ball is thrown, drops, and detailed defensive metrics.
Future construction info
Injury and suspension info
Updated coaching salaries
Coaches that are interviewing and hired
Detailed previews of every football, men’s basketball, and baseball games with stats, scoring reports, etc
Guest commentary from opposing team’s rivals publishers
And a lot more that I’m not thinking of
And nearly all of the info BTB finds out is shared weeks and months ahead of the local paper or some outlet like FBSchedules getting ahold of it.
There are a lot of posters and even moderators here that are respectful of the work put in and they don’t share that info here. It’s like TMZ, The Athletic, STATS inc, and Brett McMurphy for Tech sports. At the very least, I think people should try it out for the month of fall football practices or the month leading up to football signing day. There’s intersting news every day during those periods. At the end of the day, it’s not competition for this site, it’s just a supplement.
So I don’t know if anyone there that is pinky up, but I do like to know as much stuff as I can and I’d rather give my pocket change to BTB for the hard work done there instead of my old Shreveport Times subscription since they are usually the last to report anything about Tech.

That board is just like this board. Y’all have HD, they have LFR.
He does a great job. If you are a Tech fan, you shouldn’t miss out on the info shared there. And if you aren’t a member, you are.

I know they have great information, but I let my membership lapse a while back.
I just never quite fit in with the silk-stocking types.

I've never had a membership. I'm too cheap to pay for info I can get for free here (even if it's weeks or months later).
