What would represent a "positive turning point?" 20 wins? 23 wins and a post season tourney? Enough wins and a return to The Dance?

I had expected more from Brooke by now. Maybe that disappointment is a result of too lofty of expectations. Maybe she inherited an even bigger mess than I thought and she has the program on track. But, I don't think that is the case. This program should be further along by now, no matter what she walked into.

In the big picture, as some are always happy to harp on, WBB doesn't pay the bills. So, having an alum, a former Techster, who does keep the program clean, gets players to graduate, etc...is enough.

I guess positive would not be getting blown out by 50 points and going 0.500+ :((

Yea, 80, as we see with Skip, while he's not going to bring us substantive success, there are merits in itself to a clean, respectable program.

It is and has been the recruiting. Somehow we need to get a few top players in the program. Brooke can coach - no doubt about that. I am hoping these new faces this year will help this team.

I'm not giving up on Brooke. She can coach. I'm just disappointed the program isn't further along on the comeback trail.

The women will play 18 conference games this year. Final four conference games will be determined by team power rankings in December.

I think most of us would agree that Brooke can coach, but she hasn't proven that she can RECRUIT. And unfortunately for her, recruiting is vital for success at this level.

Her recruiting skills need to be corrected ASAP and/or a new coaching hire that brings the contacts and skill set.

I base that assessment strictly on my experiences with her at NSU. I have not attended a single practice or sat on, or near, the bench during games since she has been at Tech. But, I can say, while at NSU, I witnessed someone who can coach. Now, has she lost that intensity? Is she resting on her laurels, now at her alma mater, she's on cruise control? From afar, watching her during games, I don't think so. But, yes, I am as disappointed, and surprised, as anyone. I cannot explain away ending the season with 5 straight losses.

As much as I like Brooke, and hope she finds great success at Tech, no one person is bigger than the program. If we don't see some positive results soon, she needs to be terminated and Tech needs to try someone else. I do agree with those who point to the poor recruiting as being the root of the problem. As head coach she needs to recognize that weakness in the program and take steps to rectify it. Even if that means ole hubby needs to go and be replaced with someone who can actually recruit. Personally, I think that is true root of the problem.

That's a great point. At this level, the #1 assistant coaching position is usually reserved for someone who can recruit like hell. That Asst Coach usually lives on the road most of the year, and sees more high school gym floors than a can of floor wax. I don't know the specifics around Brooke's husband and his arrangement with LA Tech, but I'm guessing he's not traveling and living out of a suitcase most of the year.

2/15/20: at Florida Atlantic

I have a feeling the new Assistant coach was brought in specifically to recruit some good International players. I think this may be the key to getting some top players in to jump start our program. After that, we can compete for more players in the country and, even, locally (when there is talent available). We may need these International players to get us on the winning side again before anything else can happen in our recruiting. Bojan Jancovik had one season at Centenary ten years ago and some at Wyoming (where he recruited a host of players from other countries. He has extensive international experience and success. He also recruits Texas and the Midwest. He is not just an international recruiter. He has contacts in a number of areas. I think it will prove to be a good hire.
