The corruption continues and we are part of it.

Can the state fix I-20 through Bossier City?

Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
What a dick! How dare he give our university $10 million that could exponentially benefit our State!
-
Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
I’d love to know how long he has been thinking of fixing Hwy 80 from town all the way past Tech Farm and how long he has been holding on to the idea for this project. Curious that both are right here at run off time.

This money would stay in S La if he were leading by 10.

Who cares? It benefits Louisiana Tech!

Not keeping up with Louisiana politics living here in Arkansas, who is the bigger LSU fan between Rispone and Edwards?

Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
Since I, you know.... work out of the Cyber Innovation Center... (technically the ITC right next door), I think I can speak and say that Gatti's not exactly correct. Barksdale is hurting for people that have TS clearance so much that they are hiring our cleared Civilians and Veterans and bringing them back on base. I'm in the TS process now and they are predicting that it will take 18 months to go through the whole process. CSRA (Now GDIT) has brought in several big money contracts to the CIC and ITC in the last 4 years. Not sure how the finances work to get the money back to the state, but I think it's been a good investment.

Rispone uses LSU football in some way in all the commercials I’ve seen him run.
At least Edwards pays some attention to Tech, even if it is just run off time... not sure how Rispone would do with that.

He's probably already diverted it to Planned Parenthood.

Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
Has he reneged on this one yet.
He lied to the teachers who voted for him, basically they got him elected...

Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
From the article PW posted: "Pay here averaged $50,359 per year compared to $52,178 in the 16-state region."
The 16 state region is the SREB - the states comprising the Southern Regional Education Board - and includes Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. Those states have higher costs of living and higher paid teachers. If you factor in cost of living are our teachers really doing that poorly?
-
Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
Go and spend a full day with a Louisiana teacher and let me know if they are "really doing that poorly."
-
Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
Nothing to do with them doing poorly. I'm married to one and she has a great job.
He flat out lied to the teachers and support workers. They were taken in by his lies and their votes put him over the top. He didn't get a vote from my household.

You have to wonder at how gullible they were! I admit there was no great candidate in opposition, but any idiot that paid attention could have seen that he is a liar! Shock- he lied to them!

Exactly! So my son now has to have a roommate.
This will prayerfully be ok but this population doesn't like change and in our case our son is almost totally blind as well as his other needs. Another body moving around in his small room is very difficult for him.

My post was referring to the article PW posted. It talks about the possibility of a walkout and was the reason for the question. Are they doing poorly enough to stage a walkout?
If you remove they mid-atlantic states from the SREB our teachers are being paid average to above average for the region. Again, is there enough discontent to where they walkout/strike?

No. I think you know where the grumbling comes from. It's from the union do nothing teachers and the "support staff" workers who consider themselves as valuable as the teachers. The media LOVES to jump to the defense of these liberals looking for hand outs.

Agreed. I'm afraid that has become the norm even in Texas these days.

Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
So, let me get this straight: A Democrat lied to the teachers union, and NOW the teachers act shocked? :icon_roll:
Elections have consequences. The teachers got the governor they wanted. I hope it taste real good going down. (I do sympathize for teachers such as PD's wife since she didn't support the idiot!)

Thanks HD, but we knew what was going to happen. We were surprised that the race was as close at it actually was. She/we are happy with her job situation. Only a few years left...
Sadly these union idiots will keep voting the same way they have since LBJ led them into their current Burnie utopia.

I'm sorry! I know you have probably looked into all of this, but can you have him qualify with his own income and get assistance and SSI? In Louisiana, I believe he would qualify for assistance based on his income. We are trying to make plans for when we are gone at my house -only reason I know or believe that I should say.

Medicaid kicks in and takes all assets of those needing care other than a few dollars spending money each month and enough to cover insurance premiums.. When they go on medicaid they are forced to share a room in medicaid approved facilities.
Private pay is only an option for those who have the funds still in the estate inside of the 5 year look back peroid. Or for those whose heirs are able to pay the private pay fees.

Yep. In Louisiana, not only can they qualify for SSI, but also there is a waiver they can get with money either month- not sure of the amount. I haven't looked into that since we declined it though. You are probably right though, they would still have to have a shared room.

Re: Gov. Edwards: $10M for La. Tech Research Institute
Private rooms are available during Medicare rehab stays. That gets complicated and WILL NOT work with Medicare Advantage products. Approximately 100 days per year following a hospital stay of ? Days.
