Sneed grabs his first pick of many! So close to a TD.
Sneed leading the League in INTs. He’s a dawg.

Rookies coming up big for the @Chiefs

i have never seen announcers mention a rookie so many times in a single half of football without ever mentioning the rookie's alma mater as i did in the first half of tonight's game.
but l'jarius was impressive tonight for sure.
I only saw the first half. I was thinking the same thing. I guess I missed the one time they did mention Tech. His first half was really good. Sounds like the same for the second half. He appeared to get a little juked on the first Texan TD, but the whole defense got smoked on that play really. Liked the thumping shoulder he used to drop the Texan TE too.
Kind of crazy though. It was somewhat lost how talented Sneed is as his play was overshadowed by Amik while at Tech. Hoping Amik will impress early and often as Sneed has done.
Continued play like last night and Sneed is the steal of the draft!
We have 10 players in the NFL rtight now according to this:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/college/_/letter/l
I check on this from time to time. This is actually the lowest it has been in a number of years. We were in the 15 or so range for a few years. Still, we are solidly represented in the NFL.
Wasn’t Sneed playing because one of the CBs was injured? That guy may not get his job back.
I thought Trent Taylor was out in SF. He didn't play in the Super Bowl last year due to an injury. But, according to this link, he's #2 at his position on SF's depth chart.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/depth/...rancisco-49ers
I see Jeff Driskel is still hanging round in the NFL too. Not only that, he's listed as the #2 QB on Denver's depth chart, behind some 2nd year guy named Drew Lock, who has an 89.7 QB rating. That sounds like a starting job Driskel can win unless the Broncos bring in another QB to compete.
He was placed on injured reserve list following issues with foot surgery as Blue Dawg stated.
FWIW, there are odds for Drew Lock to win MVP this year. They are long odds but they exist and they don't exist for every QB in the NFL. Apparently there is a lot of hype with that kid. We will see.

About Trent Taylor from a few weeks ago.
I don't know, Lock doesn't sound all that impressive.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: The Denver defense is in excellent shape behind defensive-minded coach Vic Fangio, so the pressure will be on the second-year Lock to get this team back to the playoffs. The 2019 second-round pick failed to make much noise in five starts as a rookie, averaging a weak 6.5 YPA and managing only one weekly fantasy finish better than 20th. Denver is expected to continue leaning on a run-first offense, though Lock's supporting cast is looking much better after the team added Melvin Gordon, Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler to a group that already included Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant and Phillip Lindsay. Not a huge factor as a rusher, Lock figures to be limited to mid-to-back-end QB2 production, though he's an obvious deep sleeper in his second season.
Sneed getting some love in Bleacher Reports:
Most will agree that Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the Kansas City Chiefs' most impressive rookie in Week 1. The 32nd overall pick decimated the Texans run defense, racking up 138 yards on just 25 carries.
However, a case could be made that fourth-round pick L'Jarius Sneed was just as impressive, and his emergence was far less expected.
Snead didn't just get the start in his first NFL game; he shined. He totaled three tackles, two passes defended and one interception while playing 93 percent of the defensive snaps. He allowed just two completions for 19 yards despite being targeted seven times.
And Snead showed he can be dangerous if he gets his hands on the football. He took his interception back 39 yards, helping set up a touchdown that made the score 31-7 and essentially sealed the game.
Should also mention that X had a solid game, nothing too flashy. IMO that is a good indication of staying power - X is a starter now and fully part of the defense. He's progressed beyond "hey look at this rookie."
Did Amik play last Sunday?
It said a lot the Cowboys could have signed Earl Thomas or trades for Jamal Adams and didn’t.. then signed former pro bowler under mccarthy Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and cut him in training camp (losing $2.5 million). They trust X, Goodwin, and Donovan Wilson (Woodlawn-shreveport and A&M alum)to handle the safety positions. Cowboys have very versatile DBs.. wouldn’t surprise me if X even played some corner this season if Trovon Reed slides to safety in some situations.
Lock leaves with a shoulder injury and Driskel is on deck.
UPDATE: Lock is out for the rest of the game. Driskell is going to finish it out.
Just about to come post that. A lot of injuries in the early games. Makes me wonder if no preseason is taking its toll. Drew Lock, Parris Campbell, Cam Akers, Saquan Barkley, Nick Bosa, David Montgomery, Solomon Thomas, Brashad Perriman all out in the first quarters of their games.
Cowboys look terrible today.
Man, Driskel looking like JMar out there. I don't even recognize him.
Driskel settling in now, trying to engineer a pretty impressive comeback.
Speaking of comebacks, it has now happened again for me. The Dallas Cowboys just kicked a 46-yd FG to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 40-39, after trailing the Falcons by 20 points for most of the game. The Cowboys even recovered an onside kick with 1:53 left to get a shot at the FG. WHAT A COMEBACK!
This was just COMEBACK WEEKEND for me!
Sneed with his 2nd INT in 2 games.
58 yd FG in OT for the Chiefs to win.. yeesh someone give that kicker a raise.
Is Amik injured? He doesn't appear to be sniffing the field
Well, someone has to be on the inactive list because a maximum of 48 players can be on the active game day roster (see details for 2020 here -> https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...njured-reserve). It's disappointing Amik was not on the game day roster. Maybe the coaches felt they needed more depth at other positions for the game. With Sneed getting playing time and playing so well, Amik is probably going crazy trying to figure out what he needs to do to get in the game. Hopefully Amik will get some playing time soon.
Honestly, I think his undersized stature is catching up with him at the pro-level -
The modern receiver is so big and strong, he maybe finding it hard to adjust at the next level
Some good stuff on Sneed here.
Amik needs to figure out how to get taller at 22 years old. A first team All-American didn't get picked in the fourth round because he didn't play in some bowl game or becuase he went to a G5 school, he got pickd in the 4th round because he is 5'8" tall.
Amik will get a shot at some point. He was active for the Raiders first game but didn't play as a coaches decision. Not sure if he has any special teams skills, guess the Raiders feel not. He just needs to be ready when his chance arises.
Your last sentence is the most correct one. The NFL plays 16 regular season games a year, plus playoffs. And, injuries happen every single week in the NFL. So, Amik will get his chance at some point. He just needs to be ready when it happens, and take advantage of it.
Amik is inactive again this week.
Sneed nearly makes a pic but injured himself - has not returned since - appeared to be a shoulder / collar bone break or dislocation.
Driskel is now backing up Rypien in Denver.
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...uld-also-play/
Sneed out with a broken collarbone.
Sneed on the IR. At least there are no limits on IR this year, so he can comeback.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...aks-collarbone
Broncos won in spite of Rypien, looks bad for Jeff.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ts-first-start
8 INT's if he plays like he did last night. The first "Touchdown" went through the defenders hands off his facemask and then was a great play by Juedy to take it away and walk into the EZ.
Amik is on the active roster today. Look for him to see game action today.
Mills signed with Cowboys for OL help
Not sure how true this is but it is a shame since he got his first sack of the year yesterday.

I couldn't find anything else about this injury anywhere.
Last week Gruden said Amik might get to play due to injuries. Although the day before the game Amik complained of illness. He was burned terribly for a touchdown on his first NFL play. His job security is very secure still I would think. No way are the Raiders going to drop a fourth round pick after one game. I might think the Raiders might look for help on practice squads around the league. They promoted a safety from their practice squad before the game. The first play or game doesn't make or break a career, I think Amik will have a long NFL career.

PS Hope you enjoy Florida and glad you missed the Cowboys game. ;)
Haughton’s Dak Prescott just broke his ankle live on TV. Pretty nasty.
Ryan Allen averages 51 yds per punt in 1st game with Titans
Tramon Williams signed by the Ravens.
He did catch on... just couldn't hold on.
Amik is active tonight, covid has hit Raiders secondary. He should get several snaps tonight and might even start.
Two quick things before the game starts:
1) L'Jarius Sneed returns to action tonight for the Chiefs. He's now fully recovered from his injury a few weeks ago.
2) Tonight Amik Robertson will be wearing his old college number "21" for the first time since joining the Raiders. Here's the story on that:
Quote:
When the Raiders drafted Robertson, he probably wanted the No. 21 which he wore at Lousiana Tech. But at that time it was worn by Nick Nelson. Then the team signed free agent Prince Amukamara and he took the number.
Last week, the Raiders waived Nelson with a failed physical and released Amukamara, leaving the No. 21 for the taking. And Robertson swiped it up. When the team took the field for practice Wednesday, he was donning his new/old number. The Raiders tweeted out an image of Robertson in it.
Jeff Driskel makes his biggest mark as an NFL player this week. Unfortunately he put the entire Denver Bronco QB room in COVID lockdown. They are choosing to use an emergency QB instead of forfeiting. You cannot make this stuff up.
