The British have just dispatched a task force of frigates and a light cruiser to enter the Black Sea. They are over a week away from reaching the critical entry point at Istanbul. It's not clear what will happen if the Russians refuse to allow the British ships to enter.

Meanwhile, the Russians have now massed 120,000 troops on the border with Ukraine threatening an invasion.

Interesting that Russia is massing divisions, marking tanks, setting up field hospitals on Ukraine border, yet Biden admin is doing nothing, allows Russia full control of Black Sea. Democrats impeached Trump on stupid made up charges of delaying aid to Ukraine for 2 weeks.. Goosey supported this.. and yet stays quiet on this, and will stay quiet when Russia takes back Ukraine.

Their hypocrisy and lies are so open they don't even care about it anymore when they are called out on it.

Actually, the "just missed" frigate wouldn't have been sunk since the warhead on the erratic missile was not armed. Would have done some damage though, and possibly some casualties as well. Seems Putin's boys were testing a new anti-ship cruise missile fired from a light cruiser when the not-so-guided missile went out of control. Since the warhead was not armed the signal to self-destruct didn't do anything, so the crew of the cruiser could just watch in horror as the 12-foot long missile careened out of control toward other ships in the fleet. Traveling at nearly 600 mph by the time it had gotten 3 miles down range, at a varying altitude between 15 and 250 feet up, and leaving a marked vapor trail behind, it honed in on a Russian frigate. Not sure if they had been painted by the missile's on-board guidance system the frigate used microwaves to "distract" the runaway rocket. Whether that had any effect or not is unknown, but the missile cruised by the frigate, a mere 20 feet overhead and crashed into the sea shortly thereafter.

The three nations that compose the Baltic States have long feared a Russian invasion and have asked NATO to maintain a strong presence on the ground. But, the Baltic nations have successfully repelled a Russian invasion before. The day after the end of WWI (November 11, 1918), Russian forces (commie bastards) stormed across the border. Western leaders, ironically, okayed Germany to respond as it had an army in the region. Together with the armies of the three nations...although Latvia had at first sided with the commies, out of fear of being destroyed...the Russians were forcibly evicted.

Months later, the Germans turned on the Baltic nations, and they themselves had to be defeated and driven out.

The little old UK has twice the GDP as Russia....and if WW2 is any example (assuming the woke idiots haven't completely taken over there, too), they also have the fortitude and resolve to kick the commie bastards butts on any battlefield except the frozen tundra in Russia. Russia is given WAY too much deference on the world stage.

Heck, Russia's GDP is only a little over two times our defense budget, which of course we have to do because the idiot Europeans continue to fund the Russians and then beg us to protect them. If they'd stop that foolishness, we could cozy up to India more and keep our eyes on the real global threat - China.

Germany has the fourth highest GDP on the globe, so they should protect themselves. Only problem with the Germans is that once they get started building their military, they go a bit too far!

Confirmed. Ukraine forces exchanged artillery fire with "rebels," who are really Putin-backed terrorists. Apparently very few casualties but does include a teacher at a school that was shelled.

It was not Russian regulars involved, just their "guerillas."

BTW, German forces first crossed the Polish border onto a remote peninsula where about 200 Polish soldiers, armed only with light weapons, rifles, .30-cal machineguns, and light mortars made a heroic stand. This was along the coast of the Baltic Sea and a German cruiser used its big guns in the fight as well. This was the very first attack by the Germans which actually began August 31, the late afternoon before the historic date of September 1, 1939. The Polish soldiers were on general alert but were caught by surprise anyway. They rallied and held on against impossible odds. They would in fact only "lose" the battle and surrender after Poland itself had fallen many weeks later. The German colonel in command was so impressed by these Polish soldiers and their heroic stand that he personally saw to it that they were well treated as POWs.

Some military experts say if Putin orders an all-out invasion with the gloves off, Ukraine will lose 50% of its forces and suffer many 10's-of-thousands casualties just in the first 24 hours. After that in the days and weeks that follow, it is feasible for the Russians to hunt down and destroy (i.e. kill) the rest of the Ukranian military inflicting very close to 100% casualties. There are also reports of "Gestapo" like hit squads ordered to assassinate all opposition, including political office holders, journalists, and any others already marked as an enemy of Putin, er, Russia.

At the same time, that doesn't make it the Unites States' problem to solve, especially when a large part of the blame for the situation rests with the US' global meddling.

Our foci should be on 1) reducing American bully hegemony worldwide, 2) the dictatorship to the north, and 3) the emerging dictatorship at home.

Yeah, this can't be playing well back in the mother land. Maybe Ukraine isn't nearly as weak as our fake president.

I've said it before. Russia is not a great concern in the big scheme of things. Their entire GDP is only three times our defense budget. If we could actually get Germany and the other NATO nations to do what they've agreed to do in terms of military budgets, the Europeans could easily handle anything Russia could muster and squash them like a bug.

Now China is a different story. While we continue to forego our use of cheap domestically-produced energy and pay people to not work, they are balls to the wall producing goods at cheap prices because of that cheap energy and their slave labor. We are building, and becoming dependent on, the very monster we should fear. We need Trump back in a big way (bigly, if you will).

The Russkies, and their Belarus puppet allies, are enjoying some military successes today. I find it interesting that the Russkies have spray-painted huge white "Z" on all their vehicles. You can tell it was hurriedly done, a soldier with a spray can of white paint. I guess it's to identify themselves to avoid friendly fire mistakes. But, as one Ukranian resistance fighter pointed out, it also clearly marks them as the enemy.

Right now, the Russians are engaged in a wide-spread, across the entire nation of Ukraine attacks. Mostly air strikes on what they deem as key targets. Airports, bridges, railroads have all been struck. Attack helicopters and jets are engaged. The Russkie choppers expend a lot of defensive measures, flares designed to defeat heat-seeking rockets. It's to keep NATO off of his border, right? That's what he was insinuating.

But if he takes over Ukraine, he will share a border with Poland...where we will eventually establish a larger presence and perhaps this will cause Poland to actually fund their military in a big way and stop relying on the US for protection. That will put a larger hostile force on his border than he has ever had.

Putin doesn't have the economic power to wage a war against NATO, and if the members of NATO are adhering to the NATO bylaws, he shouldn't be able to push around many European members of NATO either.

Maybe he's just a dictator that wants to put the old Soviet Union back together, and looks for any sign of weakness in the West to take a little more real estate. Maybe it's just as simple as that.

Last year he more or less explicitly stated that he wanted a guarantee against further NATO escalation in Ukraine. We refused. So we can't use the excuse that he was probably not telling the whole truth as to his intentions (which is of course likely).

It probably is that simple, yes. I don't know if he's interested in the Soviet Union, but he's certainly interested in Empire. And since the old bully, the American-led West, shows signs of obvious weakness, it's really just the smart thing to do to take advantage of the opportunity. Yesterday I posted I would support (or try to) Biden during this crisis. He made a speech where he talked tough, short of proposing anything that would actually do something to save Ukraine, with all the economic sanctions. He claimed he had been on a conference call with European leaders and they had all agreed to the sanctions. Only...they hadn't. Germany and Turkey, the two largest and richest of our NATO allies, have said, "Nah, we don't think so," to Biden's tough talk.

I gave Biden a chance and he has failed miserably yet again. I am not surprised, of course. Unless we want to start WWIII it is over for Ukraine. They are as good as dead and will no longer exist as an independent country. Germany and Turkey, and now the rest of our NATO allies, fearful of being left to try to stand alone against Putin, and the Chicoms too, are all telling Biden the same thing now, "we don't think so." Biden is the worst excuse for POTUS since obummer! In fact, he seems to have surpassed obummer as being the worst president in US history. No small feat!

A complete and utter failure. Yes, it all started when Biden et al turned the US from a net exporter of energy and allowed Putin...in fact, we helped to fund Putin's pipelines with US tax dollars last year, Oh! and that is continuing still to this day...to become the #1 supplier to Europe. Some of the stuff I have read implies that we gave Russia assurances that NATO would not expand east toward their border, thereby compromising their security. These assurances went a long way toward convincing them to give up their hold on Eastern Germany. Obviously this was long before Poland and other nations became members of NATO.

If this is the case, the actions they are taking in Ukraine are pretty much what I would expect from our government if some Warsaw Pact type agreement was being considered in Mexico or Canada. I don't think we want Russian troops on our borders.

If this is true (some of you history buffs may know better than what I was finding on the interwebs), NATO's actions have been as bad as the old Union Generals when they reneged on their promise to the native Americans in the Black Hills, eventually slaughtering them for refusing to leave after being granted the land by treaty. As we well know, one of those Generals didn't fare so well.

Ukranian missiles struck and utterly destroyed a Russkie deployment base 16 miles inside of Russia. This is the first reported attack on Russian soil, but not the last as promised by the Ukranians.

On a somber note...

13 Ukranian soldiers are confirmed KIA when Russian warships bombarded a small base on Snake Island in the Black Sea. The Russkies demanded the defenders surrender to avoid bloodshed, but the Ukranians replied, "Russian warships, go f**k yourselves."

Putin has stepped into a fire ants nest. The Ukranians are a proud and determined people and most will fight back. Already, this morning, more Russian losses have been reported. There are a confirmed 800 Russians KIA, many more wounded and taken prisoner. And a report that an entire Russian platoon, 32 soldiers, advanced toward a Ukranian position under a white flag and surrendered saying they did not want to fight against Ukraine.

Another Russian convoy has been ambushed, with conflicting casualty reports. And! confirmation of two downed Russkie jets, with Ukraine sources claiming many more, but yet unconfirmed by independent sources. The toll of down Russkie helicopters has topped 20 with many more damaged.

The price tag continues to ring up...cha ching!

And, many pundits say Putin cannot sustain this for very long, saying their GDP is not large enough. But according to a website I checked Russia's GDP is 4th largest, behind the US, China, and India. So, I'm not sure "economics" is Putin's problem especially since Biden set him up to be the #1 O&G supplier to Europe and now Germany is saying, no thanks to any interruption of buying Russian oil.
