Fellow Rummel grad Steve Scalise has removed himself for consideration for Speaker. He is battling cancer so perhaps he didn't need the added stress of being Speaker anyway. Still, the GOP continues to be a laughingstock, which is why I identify as being CONSERVATIVE and not a member of the Republican Party. The Dems know how to play politics...in fact, that, and destroying America...is the only thing they excel at. The Dems march in lockstep, that's goosestepping like the NAZIs.
The goofy GOP...the "G" needs to stand for Goofy as in the Goofy Ole Party...will fool around and lose control of the House in the 2024 elections. Then assholes like Matt Gaetz and his small circle of disrupters can be happy with absolutely no power as the Dems, even with a small majority, will completely dominate the agenda and put the final nail in America's coffin.
There is some buzz about moderate Republicans joining with the Dems to vote to give Patrick McHenry more authority to get the House working again. McHenry is in tune with McCarthy so given such power, he might agree to get issues on the House floor, and I know the assholes like Gaetz won't like the nature of the bills. The Dems have the Senate and the WH so all it would take is a narrow margin in the House and Bam! new, stupid laws passed.
What is the point of appointing a temporary Speaker if he/she doesn't have the authority to conduct the House's business? McHenry did do one good thing, kicking Pelosi and her scumbag staff out of the Speaker's Suite of Offices. Kudos for that.
