Coach passed away yesterday. Condolences to the family.
A true Tech icon.
A great man!
Terrible news. Prayers for the Slaughter family.
Sad.
Bigger than life.
Coach.
Playcaller galore.
Mentor.
Encourager.
Beam of Light.
So sorry to hear this….
One of the best Sunday School teachers I ever had.
His voice...
RIP Coach.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7pm at Temple Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 10AM also at Temple.
Never met Coach Slaughter but I’m thankful for him and the rest of the folks that made this board what it was back in early 2000’s. I would not be as big a Tech fan if it was for folks like Coach Slaughter. RIP.
I hate to hear that.
Sad to hear. RIP coach.
OMG! This is quite a shock for me. I'm so sorry to hear this. "Coach Mick" was truly the best of the best. He was a great coach, a great family man, a great mentor for men, and I'm happy to say, a friend of mine. He was also a "Bulldog" to his core. For some of you newbies, Coach Mick was also loyal poster here on BB&B for a very long time. I ALWAYS enjoyed his insight and truly "expert" analysis into what was going on with all things "Bulldogs". I'm very saddened.
RIP Coach. And prayers for your family.

I've missed having him around.
RIP Coach
That was my first thought, that voice coming down the hall of Thatcher Hall early in the morning (1961-62)“DRY CLEANING!”
Thatcher Hall has been gone, now that voice.
A heart full of prayers to the family. May your grief be softened by your blessing of excellent memories and our eternal hope.
Slaughter to Griffin in that mud bowl game with Southern Miss. in the old stadium…
So sorry for his families loss. The world and Tech lost a good man.
I was a senior in high school the year Ruston won the state championship against Neville in 1982. They played twice that year, in the regular season and in the state championship finals. In the regular season game I was in the stands with my brother (who also recently passed) and Coach Mick was right behind us. The most enjoyable experience I ever had at a football game. It alternated between him yelling encouragement to the team and he and my brother talking offensive strategy. He was one of those rare individuals that people will always remember fondly. A true Tech legend. Prayers to the family.
Heck of a man and just nice! First time I ever met him he’d stopped in my store to drop off a flat of Ruston peaches …he only knew me at that time from my posts on this board and mutual friends. He continued to do such many times after . Truly a class act!
He had the unique ability to make everyone around him feel better regardless the situation, regardless the audience -
Visiting with him at baseball games in the old park was was always my favorite - the stories, the laughs, the knowledge he passed along
I was blessed to call him a friend
Many years ago I was seated near him at a baseball game. He commanded the attention of all those around him. Not because he was trying to, just that folks were naturally drawn to his persona. Some of those people probably didn't know who he was, they were just captured by his sense of humor and genuine character.
Calling him at his office was always fun. Holding for him and anticipating him getting on the line...he's always say SLAUGHTAH! in his booming voice when he got on the line.
Coach Mick represented our school
in the best way anyone could. He was the best!
