Serious question. Why does he keep forcing Harlan on this team? He has done NOTHING this year except give up wins and multiple runs. Good grief!!
Dawgs pick up a couple to keep it close. Here's an idea. Let's send Harlan back out there to ensure the loss.
He get's out with no runs. First time all year.
No pitchers when we need them. (Harlan gave up 4 and was NEVER dominant)
No hitters when we need them. (Drost has left like 8 men stranded tonight on three strike outs)
Are we "competing"?
6 and 7 hole hitters strike out.
Then our best hitter (who our HC has batting in the 8 hole) strikes out.
Now a 14+ era pitcher gets two outs then gives up a homer.
LB gives him the hook.
One of our seniors pitching now for the final out.
Grounder to SS for the final out.
Three more at bats...I mean three more outs.:o
Another embarrassing loss by our poorly coached team.
Just shows how bad our pitching roster is. How is Fouts not to blame for this disaster?
And how in the world did LB think this was his most talented and deepest team.
Is it too much to ask to be decent in just one sport? Every major sport is in free fall.
You make a very interesting point. I think the answer is that Burroughs is actually a pretty poor judge of talent and character which goes towards his assistants too. Gaspard and Fouts are proving every game how awful they are at coaching up the Tech players. Every game is pretty much an exact repeat of the previous game. Nobody ever gets any better. To name names Matulia, Drost and Safford have the same at bats every time they go to the plate. It’s like déjà vu all over again.Quote:

With the talent we had two years ago and even last year, we should have reached Omaha. Well...to be fair, this is baseball where funny things happen so even very talented teams experience hiccups or just lose a close game on a bloop hit or something goofy. Still, the talent was there to get to Omaha. LB burned out our closer last year pitching him about 70 innings. I'll be nice and say LB is a mediocre coach.
I think what it's showing me is the success of the program the last two years was on the special group of players we had that were baseball savvy. And looking ahead to next year, it has a good potential to be even worse, especially with the pitching staff.Quote:

Our pitching is absolutely abysmal. 5.80 ERA which puts us at 148th in the NCAA (behind EVERY OTHER SCHOOL in the STATE!) Yes. That's correct. Our ERA is the absolute worst in the state of Louisiana.

Burroughs needs to replace his assistants with coaches who can actually identify talent and coach people up and cut loose the guys who aren’t capable of contributing. There’s no mystery to who they are. Right now he’s got several freshmen on the bench who are actually forgetting how to play baseball because they’re not playing. Who knows how they’re going to be after basically sitting out a year. Tech baseball is already in trouble in the first year after Young. He was clearly the major spark and winner that drove Tech over the coaching staff.
No surprise really that there’s no buildup or enthusiasm towards the ULM rematch. That essentially says it all about the Burroughs’ 2023 Bulldogs. Tech seems to be more or less locked into a 3 game losing streak routine, so let’s see.
I think Burroughs just had a screaming fit at the dugout for not being good cheerleaders for our crappy strike out fly out batting.
