9 minute left in first half. JSU 28, Tech 7. So, yeah.
Edit: 35-7 two minutes later. So, yeah.
42-7 probably will be the halftime score. Halftime.
We should call it a game and come home. This is ridiculous.
At least the coach can’t say “We competed.” 😂
Rich Rodriguez vs Sonny Cumbie…no contest. Rich could take our players and have a team. Sonny just can’t.
What an embarrassment. Choudrant JV would crush this squad. Fire everybody.
Jimmy Henderson will be a total fail if he doesn’t clean house day one.
Cumbie can't coach and has embarrassed our university. Eric Woods, you picked a dud of a coach. His team doesn't #compete.
This is year 2 of 5 year contract. How much is buyout?
The buyout can be offset by just hiring a very cheap but good high school coach and getting rid of the overpaid women's two coaches and hiring a cheap high school coach. Results would be the same.
If Tech is not going to offer a competitive COA and NIL opportunities, they probably won’t get a decent coach.
That may be one reason Holtz put forth minimum effort his last couple of years.
Sad thing is, we were once pretty OK, but now the 3 leaders in our conference are Liberty, NMSU, and JAX State. We aren't even competing anymore and the fan base knows it. And the shell of our former conference, isn't doing much better. Without leadership, we will head back to FCS.
New Mexico St up 31-10 at Auburn with 2 minutes left.
Just shows how far Tech has fallen under Crummy. Jax State in its very first year in FBS, well, you know. NMSU long a 2-10 doormat gets a decent coach and does something we have never done, beat Auburn, and more than that win a frickin regular season game vs. a P5.
We are in the cellar in the worst FBS conference in the nation. Well, tied for last with the MAC, maybe. But in the cellar nonetheless. The empty suits that is the Tech "leadership" (quote, unquote) are either simply incapable of fixing the problem and/or don't care to.
Sit back and think for a moment of all the Tech people making big money for the shit jobs they’re doing and they’re probably not losing any sleep over it and then think about all you’ve been through over the years to do your job and provide for your family. This athletic stuff is all a bunch of over glorified BS.
Arkansas is struggling with FIU so far.
We know we can’t afford to fire Cumbie, but he’s got to clean house with the staff
Obi-Wan Davison – you’re our only hope . . . :((
Now that Tech is a whoaful 6-18 under Cumbie and deep in a world of shit I just had to dig up the press conference from his introduction as Tech head coach to see again what was said. To begin with Guice speaking shakily is a big clue that he’s really not a leader and not honest either as he lays out a heaping pile of make believe on the behalf of AD Wood’s early accomplishments. After that Guice actually calls Cumbie, Crumbie. It’s funny how prophetic he was. There’s also the admission of how hurriedly they hired Crumbie which as it turns out is very telling of the mistake they made. Unfortunately according to Guice the “they” included Steve Davison. Maybe if we’re all really lucky Steve will end this disaster and quickly put Tech on a new course. If not for him this Tech / Cumbie fiasco is going to be a long and drawn out gruesome bloodletting. As for Wood’s opening remarks regarding Guice, I did enjoy the half ass applause offered for his phony compliments of Guice. As bad as it was Wood did clap into the microphone to overpower everyone else’s half claps. Fast forward through all the rest of Wood blowing smoke to Cumbie’s part where he first showed his lacking communication skills. He truly does have difficulty getting a message across which I can’t help but think carries over into his various team meetings. How ironic for Cumbie to praise Holtz and say he wanted to continue what he started. Well he’s done exactly that by adding his two 3-9 seasons to Holtz’s final 3-9 year. I guess he pretty much cursed himself saying that. Eventually at about the 29:30 mark Cumbie lets the cat out of the bag about the players being the ones who bring the energy to the team, so I guess that means the coaches are more so along for the ride. I found it very interesting to see the over emphasized hype versus where we are now. Watch and reflect how things were set up and presented back then to where we are now…

I'm still trying to figure out why a coach with no (minimal?) head coach experience would have deserved a buyout clause. Seems like if you're gonna cut your teeth at our expense, we shouldn't need to saddle ourselves with part of your salary if it doesn't look like its going to work out before your contract is up. If you're only HC experience is as an interim HC and you demand a buy out, our response should have been "no thanks."
Isn't this the damn truth! We've got too many selfish career climbers holding down high-paying jobs in LA Tech's athletic department.
I knew LA Tech was in trouble when we hired "Dr. Eric Wood" for all the wrong reasons. When Wood --with no experience as a school Athletic Director-- insisted being named a school "Vice President" in addition to our AD, I knew it was a bad hire. We should have taken our briefcase and left the negotiating table. We didn't need another school VP. What we NEEDED was a good AD. If we hadn't hired Wood, someone else would have eventually taken the job and done just fine. But somebody at LA Tech (Les Guice?) thought it was cool to hire an unproven AD who was narcissistic and passionate about professional job titles (e.g., Dr, VP, etc...). :icon_roll:
As for Wood, he may be a talented guy, but he is obviously more focused on his career steps than he is on hiring good football and basketball coaches and making LA Tech a successful athletic program. He was hired by Tech in October 2020, and was caught completely off guard a year later when 9 CUSA schools announced they were leaving CUSA for greener pastures. Even though he had a full year as AD under his belt, Wood was no help to LA Tech. He certainly doesn't strike me as a "roll up your sleeves workhorse" kind of guy that knows how to get things done, and done fast. When he and his administrative assistant demanded that she be called "Chief of Staff", I knew these people were not a good cultural fit for LA Tech.
Fact is, these people are focused on the wrong things. So, while they "play office" on Louisiana Tech's dime, Tech's athletic program is being slowly burned to the ground.
Rich Rod makes less than Cumbie and schooled him. Plus he JSU gets money when he’s hired by A&M next week.

After New Mexico St kicked Auburn's ass Saturday, I got to wondering about their coach Jerry Kill. Below is a link to his salary and bonus structure.

He makes a base that is $300K less than Cumbie. It's obvious no one involved in tech athletics knows what the hell they are doing. Why would you give a dime to an organization that is such a poor steward of your money. It's disgusting.
Coach Crumbie is like Cinderella‘s fairy godmother on LSD. The carriage is a pumpkin, the pull horses are mice, the ballgown is a potato sack and the glass slippers are flip-flops. Everything is a bass ackwards mess.
USM and ECU have fired their head coaches. Are we going to be competing with them for candidates?
There is a chance we will be searching for coaches at the same time. Competing with them for options is another story:
We can’t compete with ECU, but could with USM if it came down to that.
