For those of you that claimed to see what happened at the SAE house that night, that those crazy frat guys talking "smack" and cussing at the cops deserved to get arrested, and that those kids needs to learn to respect the cops, because ....after all they are just doing their "JOB",... Give me a friggin break, The only reason they were opening their mouths at all was to protest the serious injustice and brutality that was occuring,...you have 1)no clue what your talking about , 2)RPD is threatening you to say those things or 3) you are a all MORONs, i am leading towards this one the most. By the way, where does it say that "doing their job" means throwing and slamming people who live at the residence on the ground at their own house, huh, where are you genius's at there. You obviously didnt see the party was already over, you didnt see the cops grabbing guys just standing around getting thrown to the ground, you obviously didnt see one of the cops pepper spraying 2 GIRLS, who were obviously threatening the lives of the cops, pfffff. You all are morons, yes RPD does have some good POLICE OFFICERS, but the rest of those small town cops are one day going to get what they deserve, they think that they can just toss and fling people around and get away with it, this will soon not be the case one day.

As far as Tech football games, no one even goes at all because they are afraid of getting manhandled by cops for trying to enjoy a beer, before rooting for the home team, :thumbsup: So as long as RPD remains the same, I hope Dawghouse shows the games on tv, because thats where Ill be watching and supporting my school from! Plus i can drink there WOW :idea:

Well Bulldog2003, im pretty sure you took a criminal justice class in high school so that makes you an expert in the law, so answer me this genius,...How is it, that you can be charged with resisting arrest when 1) You lay on the ground, by yourself 2) walk nice and peacefully with the officer who 'cuffed' not arrested you .....also how do you get charged with "Entering and remaining-after being forbidden" whenever you OWN THE LAND AND PROPERTY? To be completely honest, my take on all this is that the truth probably lies somewhere between your/SAE's take and the RPD's. As they say, "There are always 3 sides, his side, her side, and then there is the truth." If it is found that some of the officers of the RPD were in the wrong, I SINCERELY hope they are dealt with and sent packing.

As far as "LSU RULES", again, there are 3 sides, lsu fan's side, tech's fans side, and then probably the most accurate, the national perception which is eerily similar to the Tech fan's side.

Again, I don't necessarily believe all the RPD has to say, nor do discount all of what the SAE's have to say, my point is that the facts probably lie somewhere in-between.

Actually, it does. I'm not saying it's a common occurence, and that everyone that is an alum of a fraternity enjoys these benefits, but there are instances that it does help being a member of a fraternal organization. I've know people who have gotten anything from free gas to jobs because of their fraternity ties.

ya know, I never had interest being in a frat, but I did alway feel, for those involved, it would be great for "contacts" after graduation. I'm sure being involved in one can help you get your foot in the door when you're fresh out of college and still wet behind the ears.

I can vouch to having the connections from a fraternity, 2 of my good buddies got great jobs, one working for a PR firm in dallas and the other for an engineering company in lake charles, they told me they got those jobs over other candidates, not because the person hiring thought they smelled nice, but both of them were told they got hired because they were in fraternities, one was in the same as the guy in dallas, and the guy in lake charles was in a different one, but he knew what fraternities did for young boys, it turns most of them into responsible men, hard fact to swallow for some people who think that all fraternity guys to is drink beer, get laid, and raise hell(though they do that to) but they become leaders on campuses, in their communities, in fact fraternities and sororities are the only people that i hear around here that even do anything for ruston, but no one ever reflects on the good, just what RPD send in the paper, they dont show all the fundraiser events for local organizations, the time they spend helping kids, and donating food, gifts to shelters, all the good stuff. :thumbsup:

Hey everyone that reads this. I'm sorry things got so out of hand. Really, I'm a nice person and I dont enjoy offending strangers. I't's just that the whole RPD thing with the SAE's really upset me and the deal with other people defending the police when they obviously were'nt there upset me more. Maybe the greek commment was out of line but I couldn't justify why someone would defend the police in this situation; because I was there and I KNOW they were in the wrong. I'm not a big tough guy. I"m not even a guy. I'm just a girl who is furious at the injustice of seeing her good friends get thrown on the ground like common criminals for breaking no laws. I was also pepper sprayed during the incident (by the police) and my only crime was bieng an innocent bystander. I am truly sorry for my former comments if they hurt anyone's feelings. I DON"T think your'e a loser if you are not greek. And sorry to tell you, yes I will be graduating soon.

:cry: I have been sort of keeping up with this subject and I have drawn some conclusions. Sounds like the SAE's had a party that they knew would bring noise complaints but they did it anyway. Now they are crying because the police enforced the noise ordanances of Ruston. Sounds to me like a bunch of 4th class, ill-mannered, rude, children crying because the RPD did what their worthless parents should have done years ago. Transfer to Northeast, you'll like it there.

I didn't have a dog in this fight until I read the post using Special Olympics as a put-down. If you ever have a child who ends up being a Special Olympics participant I can assure you you will view things differently. I really appreciate the men and women who give their time to Special Olympics.

I TEACH THE KIDS WHO GO TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS ON A DAILY BASIS AND HAVE FOR OVER 20 YEARS. I HAVE CHOSEN TO WORK WITH PARALYMPIC TYPE ATHLETES DUE TO THE FACT THAT I KEPT SEEING SO MANY PEOPLE WORKING SPECIAL OLYMPICS FOR THE PUBLICITY OR PERSONAL GAIN. I THINK THE PROGRAM DOES GOOD THINGS FOR THE STUDENTS IT SERVES. I HAVE CHOSEN A DIFFERENT AREA OF HANDICAPPED SPORTS AND A DIFFERENT GROUP OF STUDENTS. WHY ARE WE DISCUSSING THIS HERE. THIS BELONGS IN ONE OF THE MORE RESPECTABLE AREAS OF THE SITE.

ONE OF MY EX-ATHLETES IS A SENIOR AT TECH WHO ALSO OFFICIATES WITH ME AROUND THE STATE AND ONE OF OUR BETTER ATHLETES FROM PINEVILLE WILL BE A FRESHMAN AT TECH IN THE FALL, ON A PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP. MOST OF OUR KIDS WOULD MUCH RATHER COMPETE THAN WATCH BUT I'M SURE THE IDEA OF TICKETS TO AN EVENT WOULD BE WELL RECEIVED.

Greg, I know that several people buy season tickets also buy the family pack of tickets to share with relatives, friends and anyone who might not otherwise bring kids to games.
Put the word out under football before the season starts and I think you'll get some to cover any kids you can invite to Tech games. I gave some to relatives last season and some were used but others were not. So it helps to have someone in direct contact with kids who might come and even bring a parent if there is a free ticket to encourage them.
I read this thread and concluded only that Goofy has not been sleeping alone in recent months!

Because of recent events, some of us may realize also that extra tickets might benefit people in nursing homes, VA hospitals, etc. Not everyone in a senior-living center is unable to enjoy going to a ball game, just unable to get there on their own. Let's all keep that in mind this fall. Aging former athletes and band members particularly might enjoy a Tech game this fall!
