She won't be unnoticed very long. :D
Before we give her too much love let's keep in mind she has Iowa beating BYU as the most likely upset.
Maybe she thinks BYU sucks. Who knows?Quote:

OR, maybe, she doesn't consider us beating Florida State an upset. :DQuote:

But I have to say that in recent years she has been--for the most part--flattering in her comments about Tech, Coach Barmore, our tradition, etc. Maybe it's nostalgia for the good old days, but I'll take it. She has generally been respectful of La. Tech in her comments.
Well her and her era appreciate what Tech and other small schools like ODU, Long Beach State (remember, those terrifying California road trips), Delta State, etc. did for women's basketball. Heck Pat Summitt also has great respect for Tech. They "like to kick it old school."
On the other hand that sour-puss Stacy Dales Shuman, and Kara Lawson have no clue what it was like back in the day.
You are exactly right.
Dang, I may need to go sit in Memorial Gym for a while tomorrow to meditate. :)
I love how SDS bashes the little mid-major, even though she went to Missouri St. right? (I think that is where she went).
Nah...That was Jackie Styles that played at SMS. SDS played at Oklahoma from the BIG XII.Quote:

We, more than any program (regardless of size) have hung around at the top, along with Tennessee, for the longest amount of time.
We have to earn respect now again, but we will do that.
I guess the point of my post is that we are no ODU, Long Beach State, or Delta State. We are a power player that has had a few down years.
None of those media heads even consider us a small wannabee program. The Techster name is considered among the elite in WBB. We have to earn some respect again to keep it there, though.

Why don't you head on to bed then. I post because I like to talk about the Techsters. You can block me, if you wish.Quote:

I don't know if Tennessee, Duke, Penn State (even though they were down this year), sought to play them, or Larry seeks them out, but they play these types every year. If I'm not mistaken, they also played North Carolina and Purdue. You would think that if we were a little ahead of them as far as respectability, then we would be playing more of these types of teams, other than Tennessee. Also, I didn't see Pat Summitt going to a 2-1 with ODU, as with us. I appreciate what Coach Long has done for us this year, and I think that we will get back to top 10, but we need, I think to get out of the WAC, 1st and foremost. I would still like to see us in the B12 or SEC. And second, try to get more of these top teams to play us. I bet that UNC would play us, as Sylvia Hatchell, probaly would consider us a cream puff and schedule us as most of her schedules, every year seem to be filled with less than stellar competition. Kentucky and Purdue would be good. Texas A&M with Tech connection there. We start playing more of those games would generate more exposure. JMO, however. :) GO Techsters !!!Quote:

ODU is certainly a great team each year. Wendy Larry does a good job with them. They cannot match our tournament history year after year, though. We have a better consistent history than they do. That is what I am referring to. Please don't think I am knocking ODU - I have respect for them.
ODU is interesting. They went a little different route than us or, even, Tennessee went. They knew that it would be difficult to stay close to the top, so they recruited girls from other countries. I haven't looked at their roster this year (I will do that right after this), but they are usually loaded up with recruits from other countries. That is certainly one way to try to keep it going.
Well, that figures....... As soon as I stated the above, I went and looked at their site. They only have one player from outside the country this year. Maybe, they are veering from that path now.Quote:

I don't think you were knocking ODU. Sorry if I was misunderstood. I respect their program, and was not knocking them either. I just want our team to get so much more exposure than we do, and it galls me when I read about us being a mid-major that is on the decline, and not nearly as much is said about Old Dominion, when they are pretty much in the same boat as we are, but still get more exposure, mainly, I think, because they still play the top teams a lot more than we do, and basically on the East Coast. And it galls me that we are in such a weak conference, with hardly any exposure. A big thanks to CSTV for playing us this year. I definitely agree with you that we have sustained ours more than they have, when we have been to every NCAA tourney, and they have missed at least one. I know I am redundant, but I wish that 1), we could get in a consistently better conference, and 2) that more top teams would be willing to play us, like they do ODU.Quote:

That is part of the point that I was trying to make. We are not a "has been". We have been down a few years now, but are not that far removed.Quote:
