"Video killed the radio star"
Does anyone play videos anymore? Do they even make music videos still?
I wonder what stars we have now that never would have made it without their videos?
The big MJ did quite a few "epic" videos back in the day. Would he have been so big without them?
-
Re: Figured there would be some 25th
Not an MJ fan - but THRILLER was a killer album and the 6 singles off of their had very good videos...

Re: Figured there would be some 25th

I guess I should have read the whole thread before posing my question to DFM.

JJ Jackson wasn't it?

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
That's right. JJ Jackson. I think he died recently.

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
Fuse is very quickly taking over the music television market. MTV has turned itself into a silly station that concentrates on whoring up and dumbing down this nation's youth.

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
VH1 Classic was replaying the MTV's first 24 hours yesterday. I flipped past it a couple of times ... saw Blondie and Queen.
Bitchin'

She's good. Apparently sometime around when she told Tommy Lee "one word, google" CBS made/asked her to shut down her web site. Something about her site being to revealing.

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
Anyone remember them playing Duran Duran's UNCUT version of GIRLS ON FILM late at nite.....
Smokin hot....
Is Kurt Loder still kickin? Don't think he ever got further than the news....
I used to be a BIG FAN of Radio 1990, which was on USA Network I think - very cutting edge - tour schedules, band changes - good rock gossip...
THey always seemed to focus on the obscure bands right before they hit it big....

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
I remember MTV playing videos up until I was in Jr High (10 years ago). I hate to say it, but Real World (good in original pupose) opened up pandora's box. After that, MTV slowly became a reality TV channel. Even when they do show videos, it is based off of some popular poll and they have to make a show out of it. Why can't they just show music videos back to back anymore just for the sake of music?
-
Re: Figured there would be some 25th
They still do that late at night I think, although you're more likely to catch actual "music" on MTV2.
Along with Beavis reruns! Yeah!

I meant to say that. MTV 2 will probably end up replaying all of the Road Rules and Infernos and whatever the hell else when MTV starts coming up with new shows. Then, they will have to create an MTV3 to actually play music and Beavis reruns. Then, the cycle will continue unitl we have an MTV8 "The Ocho".

Mehhh...Jesse, dude...I am so rock n roll. That queer. Then he tried to become a rock star with some gimp band he put together...brutal. Dave was much better, but of course, he fell into the "you have to look like a tool to be on MTV" and started highlighting his hair and crap.

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
Here's an article talking about the first hours of MTV.
Apparently, VH1 is replaying that first hour this Sunday.

Beavis and Butthead is NOT a stupid show. It is a smart show about stupid people.
Discuss ....

Re: Figured there would be some 25th
I got to meet Pauly Shore and stood in line with him waiting for lunch in the food court when he came to Tech. He was in full character. He told me our chicken was good grindage. He did his standup at the TAC that night and Spin Doctors opened for him. Most of his show centered upon jokes about mastrubation.
