We are a 10.5 favorite. Over/Under is 42.5. Vegas knows. Hope our HC and OC do their job.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
NM State beat Tulsa last week and are 2-0. We could lose this one.

Where are those points supposed to come from?

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
It's probably based on our defensive play! Definitely not because our offensive offensive production! :D
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
This matchup and the build up to this game is so exciting, haha!!! All I’m curious about is what numbskull play call or bad coaching decision does Crumbie do today. Hopefully the Dawgs D has another solid game so Tech can squeeze out a win.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
I’m going in optimistic that the offense comes to life tonight.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
They had two weeks to google "how to add down and distance on ESPN"
At least it started on time
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Score is 0 to blank
Baker is playing well, I'm liking his throws today
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
10-0 Dawgs. Using a roulette wheel to determine which qb plays each down
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Very pleased so far. And with how Washington State played today, dawgs are going 11-1 with this defense!!!

Either NMST really sucks, or we’ve finally figured out the offense, or both.

Definitely a little column a and a little column b.

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
They beat Tulsa and Tulsa leads Navy 14-0.

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Tech’s musical chairs QB strategy finally hurts. It was just a matter of time.

Yep. I said before the play to hand it off and kicj the FG
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Bro WTF are we doing?
Their only offense has been "throw it deep" and we're letting receivers run behind us on every play.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
What’s wrong with having some QB consistency? It looks more like Franklin trying to make a QB Jech’s #1 than the guy actually earning it.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
No flag for roughing the kicker. Okay.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Good lord. Just line up and pick up a yard.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Cumbie is worse at tricks than even Holtz was
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
I think someone kidnapped our offense and stole their uniforms in the first half. I see they’ve finally found their way back to the Joe.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Is Franklin calling plays now or is Cumbie?
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Is NMSU's ball black or is that a trick of the camera?
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Franklin, but Crumbie can call something moronic whenever he wants to. You’ll know it when you see it because it’s ridiculously obvious.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
As it’s been under Crumbie Tech’s discipline is terrible. We’re one of the worst teams in the country for being penalized.

3 passers in this game so far and not one of them is Bullock? Am I reading that right?

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Interesting call to go for 2 but I've seen us blow bigger leads with less time so I'll take it
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
49 points! And time still on the clock.
This is the kind of score we hoped for when Cumbie was hired.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
I haven't posted on here in years, I believe... anyhow, look at this blowout... Would've been great to have an actual offense last week in Baton Rouge, eh? HBTD!

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Good win and opening to conference play.

A good win. I was surprised to hear that we've only had 2 QBs rush for 100+
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Good win by the Dawgs over New Mexico State 49-14.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
As the saying goes - there is still a lot of football left, but I'm beginning to think Tech might actually amount to something this year. As the season progresses, teams will begin to figure out our defense, but I hope the defense continues to shine. I feel comfortable with Blake Baker in at QB1. I just hope he doesn't get hurt by continuing to put himself in harm's way as he has with many of his runs.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Good job Dawgs. Got a little worried about our pass defense in the 2nd quarter, but they seemed to fix that problem. Offense showed signs of life, hopefully it's the start of something good.
I suppose it's pointless to point out how amateurish our TV telecast is. Luke McCown is fine, at least he knows the game and sticks to that (no mentions of Piggly Wiggly stores). Our graphics is a joke. Onscreen clock was never right, and NMSU started the game with two timeouts, Tech with three, and kept them even though both teams used their timeouts. Madison Kaufman screams into her mic.
But, as with all things Tech sports, a W is a W, and glad for it.
GO DAWGS!
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
I watched with the sound off. I enjoy Luke's input, but M.B. is just not a PXP guy. What this allowed me to do was to watch the sideline and see who was actually coaching our team. It was Franklin, not Cumbie. Our HC continues to look lost and unorganized. With Franklin calling the plays, our HC may get a contract extension if we win more than 6 games. The team I saw last night can easily do that with the schedule we have in front of us.
I think we'll be favored over S.Miss next week by double digits. Need to make a statement against them.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
I will just say that this was a VERY FUN game to watch!!!!! I haven't seen us play like that in a very long time... The 3rd Quarter was a little boring, but we lit it up in the 4th!!!!!! WAY TO GO DAWGS!!!!!!!
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Wow, I finally have some optimism. I was hesitant last year to say it but we did lose a lot of close games. It seemed like bad luck to lose so many close games and maybe the team is more competitive than the record showed. Maybe we've turned a corner finally after so many years. I'm definitely more interested than I have been in years now.

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Our new radio pxp guys is good, really good. So good in fact, he will be offered a major power school pxp position in a few short years at most.

Why does Madison Kaufman SCREAM into her microphone? The big screech sound she makes is almost unbearable. And why hasn't anybody associated with the athletic program or university SAID ANYTHING TO HER ABOUT IT?
Look, nobody is expecting perfection. But some of this stuff can be easily tweaked or improved from week to week.
There was a halftime --and end of game-- stat sheet this week vs none last week. That's a little improvement.
But the "SCREAMING CHICK" has got to stop.

I agree. I still think we could do better if Bullock was playing. Bullock is a better passer than anyone else in the QB room, and he's got the stats and 10-game experience to prove it. But Franklin is going with the "QB Run first" option right now to protect the football and help our run game, I guess.

I thought about that last night. Crummy just walks around on the sidelines with a glazed-over look in his eyes while Franklin meets the team on the field. I’m hoping we win out, and Crummy gets hired away by another school. A guy can dream!! Either way, I’m conflicted about coming to watch the Southern Miss game, because every time I do, we crap the bed. The no QB game against them in Ruston almost made me swear off Tech athletics forever. I want to believe, but history has proved that when it comes to Southern Miss, Tech can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

promote her to the press box so she can continue the tradition of screaming into the mic announcing the band of pride.... traditions are important :)

Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Others, including NMSU fans, are chiming in on Tech's woeful ESPN+ production "lack of quality." Number one on the complaint list is Madison Kaufman with her "southern drawl" and screaming. One observer said it sounds like someone on a cell phone in a car with the windows rolled down...have to scream to be heard.
The graphics are horrific, which has been an issue for Tech since, well, forever. I mentioned it during hoops and baseball. Other schools have a complete set of graphics, timely and complete. Such as down and distance, the play clock, etc. Tech can't even get the timeouts right. Why do we suck at everything and never seem to fix anything?
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
Does every school have to reimplement the ESPN layover from scratch?
1st and Ten has been in continuous use since 1998. I guess that means we might gain access to this technology in about 10 years.
We aren't even showing down and distance in text. A few times I noticed a 2nd & 10 would flash where the ESPN logo was but otherwise you have to try and catch a glimpse of the actual chain board or hope that Malcolm is paying attention and repeats it.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
We always try to go the "cost effective" route which yields Teched up results. If you don't have the money to do it right don't do it. If you have to because of conference rules, then spend the money and do it right. At this point half Assing it has become so ingrained with people at Tech I don't even think they realize it.
-
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. New Mexico State - latechsports.com
That Madison chick grates on my nerves. There, I've said it. Is she some big donors granddaughter or something? Malcomb needs to tone down on saying "Louisiana Tech" in every instance. How about a little "Bulldogs" or just "Tech" for a change?

Or he could pronounce Louisiana correctly. That would nice. 4 syllables not 5.
Oh well, they showed up for work on time. What more can you expect?

Yeah I've been disappointed that our down and distance isn't showing up consistently.
Regarding ESPN+, I imagine they give all the schools the same graphic package to implement into their production. If you watch any ESPN+ games, their score bug, transitions, etc are pretty standard. We just need the staff to execute these things.
My issues I saw.
- Color/Exposure settings on all camera outputs are all over the place. The midfield cam looks way different then the endzones and field cams. They need to calibrate it and make sure they all look the same.
- Endzone cam output was atrocious. The exposure levels and color saturation was too high.
- Audio - the SLU broadcast was good on audio. The NMSU game, every audio source sounded like they were clipping and distorted. This needs fixing prior to the game making sure the levels are good.

My kids kept asking why it looked like it was snowing. Good opportunity to explain that no one in the broadcast department had ever heard of color balance or exposure.

It’s on the production crew to get the audio right. Levels should be adjusted whether she’s yelling or speaking quietly.
At a live concert, audio engineers constantly work the mixing board to keep things sounding good, the performers don’t hear the final output. Someone on the team should be monitoring with headphones to make sure it’s balanced.
I film on the side, and if my talent talks loud and spikes the levels, I just lower the gain. I can increase the volume in post-production if I need to.
