We will be making an upgrade to our site on Thursday morning beginning sometime before 7:00 AM. It shouldn't take long, but the site will be unavailable during that time. Sorry to all of you early morning readers.

AGAIN, Chris, a big
THANKS
for a great board!
tm
We were NOT able to get the upgrade done this morning so I'm going to take the site down for a short period of time around 3:00 today to make the upgrade. It shouldn't take long.
Chris
You the man. Do what you got to do, boss. And to everyone else. I'm gonna tell you like dirtylegacy2 (the 5 year old) says. "you get what you get and you don't throw a fit." So deal everyone. I know no one is upset. It's just that I always talk about dirtylegacy that I feel like I need to mention legacy2 sometimes as well. I bet that makes you all shudder to think that not only is there one dirtylegacy, but actually 2. And if Vette gets her way, we may be fielding a team once we get back on our feet.
Obviously the board is back up and running. We have some additional work to do, but we can do that behind the scenes.
Thanks!
Chris
BTW, there are SEVERAL new features with this upgrade. If you find something different, post it here.
I'm not going to respond to that one!
Tagging Posts was added...
Correct!
Thread Tagging
A new way to facilitate searching and grouping of threads, it is now possible for users to add tags to threads they post or read.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/threa...-newthread.png
Tags can be added when creating a new thread, or to an existing thread by any user (with appropriate permissions).
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/threa...showthread.png
Any users who then click on these tags will not only find all thread that have the same tag as the one clicked, but will also contribute to the building of a search tag cloud, which gives users a quick guide as to what has been searched for recently and most frequently.

Would it be cheating if I answered your "what's new?" question?? :D
I'm open all weekend (that I know of), so if you want some assistance, let me know.
You can offer up 1 feature every 48 hrs, Doc! So pick WISELY!
Let's start with..... the SOCIAL NETWORKING.
You can further expand your friends list, you can create social groups, and add photo albums to your profile for people to look through and add comments to.
All right, that was MORE than 1 feature!
i found one... groups!
What's the deal with the friends thing? When you allow certain members as friends what does that accomplish that is different than just the normal board relationship with the other members. And, if it gets to be too many people requesting friend request, can we put like a fraternity application where we have a rush then all of the friends who are in the same friend list can vote on the new request and see if we want to let him in our friend group?
SO many questions! Friends first:
Reciprocal Friendships Between Users
As part of our new social networking system, users can now request that people on their buddy list confirm their friendship, after which time a person's list of confirmed friends will be viewable to other users.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/friends-edit.png
One of the things I see the friends feature doing is that you can set your profile, blogs, picture galleries, even social groups so that only your "friends" can see them. That gives you some control of who can access some of your personal information.
User Picture Galleries
vBulletin users can now create albums and upload pictures to their account.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/album-show-album.png
The ability to view these albums and pictures can be limited by the user to just board staff and people on their buddy list if they want privacy.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/album-show-picture.png
This does NOT replace the phot gallery we currently have, but this is your own PERSONAL gallery which you can either share with people or choose not to.
Be creative here. YOU can set up ANY SOCIAL group you want! Want a Harley group and connect with other BB&B Harley riders? Create a group! Tailgating crews? Do it here! Tech golfing addic? Politically Liberal? Hunting, fishing, fantasy sports, gaming, etc.? You get the idea. You can share pictures in your group and leave messages and have your own topical "thread" just for your social group.
User-Created Social Groups
To further social cohesion between users and to encourage people to make friends, vBulletin now includes a facility to allow users to create their own social/interest groups.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/social-groups.png
These groups are enhanced by having their own public messaging system, and the ability to add pictures to the group from user albums.

Todd, you can do WHATEVER you want to with your friend group.
BTW, there are still some more new features out there. And in case anyone is wondering, you can acces all of the above features through your user profile (click UserCP up in the navbar)
Okay, serious question. I noticed that when you request a friend there is also the other option to request that person as a contact. If you request them as a friend and they accept, does that also automatically make them a contact or do you have to go back through the process to request them as a contact? Is there an easier way to request them as a contact than having to type the name in all over again.
While typing this, I just realized I haven't requested Vette or dirtylegacy to my friend list. Better straighten that out I guess.
There used to be a "find more posts by user" option when you went to a user's profile. Is that gone, or have I just not found it yet?
Anybody noticed the different picture attachment viewer yet? Just go to one of MoonPie's BTEII posts and click on the attachments. Or, if you *gasp* try to avoid that thread, just click Doc's attachment 4 posts above this one.
A few more features that people have either missed OR aren't interested in (this first one is not active yet because I don't know what prefixes you want)
Thread Prefixes
Long requested by users, threads can now have administrator-defined prefixes to their titles.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/threa...rumdisplay.png
Thread prefixes are divided into groups by the administrator, allowing different prefixes to be available in different forums.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/thread-prefixes.png
Public Messaging
While private messages between users have been in vBulletin since version 2.0, vBulletin 3.7 introduces the public messaging system, allowing users to communicate publicly via their profile pages.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/publi...es-profile.png
New Member Profile Page
In order to accomodate all the new features in vBulletin 3.7, the member profile page has been completely redesigned from the ground up.
The new page presents information in a far cleaner and more logical manner, while dividing up information into manageable chunks using a tabbed interface.
Individual profile field categories can be displayed alone in blocks in the right column, in addition to appearing by default in the 'About Me' tab.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/new-memberinfo-b.png
I think we should have a contest for the best designed member profile page for this part. What do y'all think?
Member Customization of Profile Page
The administrator may choose to allow his members to use the profile page customization tool, which allows users to alter fonts, colors, background and borders etc. of their profile page in order to create a more personalized look.
http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/custo...ile-editor.png
The administrator can lock-down customization permissions, in order to prevent the personalized pages being made too offensively awful by aesthetically challenged members... nobody wants to see some of those really ugly MySpace pages on your vBulletin installation!

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.7/custo...mberinfo-b.png
And lastly:
Navbar Notices
Administrators can now set up custom notifications that will appear underneath the navbar when visiting users fulfil specified criteria.
For example, one may want to set up a notice to display when a user is a member of a particular usergroup, or to show a congratulatory message when a user has posted their 1,000th post etc.

Very nice! For headings: This just in! for news Question- and Important! should be good enough.
I just "This Just In"ed something
