Houston Tuminello

I have followed high-school football in East and North Texas for several years. I have seen many great players in that time at all positions. I'm posting this just to let all LA TECH supporters know that you are going to be shocked at the skill level of Houston Tuminello at WR. His numbers are staggering career-wise:

262 catches (state record)
4311 Yards
55 TD's

I saw him play 8 or 9 times and he possesses the best ball skills of any high-school WR that I have ever seen. I don't have a dog in this fight but I will assure you that you will see hands, route-running and acrobatic catches like you haven't seen in a long time.

I have noticed you guys are excited about Cruise Williams, and you should be, but you can take my word for it his WR skills are far inferior to Tuminello's.

Congratulations to all Tech supporters, the next few years should be exciting.

Just an opinion from a high-school football junkie.

That's awesome! We are in dire need of good receivers. If his skill set is as you claim, he will be playing on Saturdays very soon.

Houston's video is awesome and his numbers are pretty amazing. I hope he's able to get in for the summer program and get himself ready...he may be called upon very early.

I can't wait to see him moving the chains and catching TD's in a TECH uniform.

Just think in a few years Livas will be a Sr. and Williams and Tuminello will both be Jr.'s. THAT will be a very nice WR's corp. Hopefully Hardin will be all he is cracked up to be and we will have a very nice offense.


.....Not to forget Stanton at RB!!

Had the opportunity to see him on film quite a few times. He's an impressive athlete (6'5", 210, 4.5 40) and football player and my post wasn't meant to take anything away from that.....only to share my opinion that Houston is going to be a special player for the Bulldogs.....and that as far as WR skill goes, you'd be hard pressed to find many better than Tuminello.

Coach Mick, Coachdawg and the others from your generation who have kept the faith in these Bulldogs all these years, with all the highs and lows you've guys have been through, I'm as excited as ever to see these guys produce as much for you all to live through it than me. I can only imagine the elation you guys will feel when we finally reach where we should be, should have been and where you've all wanted us to be and hoped for all these years.

I watch RP Stuarts films quite often. He appears to be a PHYSICAL player, that is something we've been missing at the wideout for a while now. If he doesn't get injured, I expect he will be a significant cog in the offense. Of all the players that signed(offense), he excites me the most.

coach, i had the chance to watch richie casey in action during the playoffs last year against menard. it looked like casey was playing against a team in slow motion. i'm equally as excited to get his little brother in bulldog blue. will the younger casey be a junior or senior this year?

Excellent point. While I think we will see some improvement in our receiving corps, I'm not expecting anything spectacular from our freshmen. I know they will add depth and production, but I can't get excited about a true freshmen making an impact immediately. That would take an exceptional athlete. I believe Tuminello will do great things for us, but I would just like to caution everyone not to put too much on his shoulders right away. The same goes for Cruz.

Totally agree. I think many of us (myself definitely included) are very guilty of doing that with D1. If Morris has a productive year this year and a great year next year than he will have more than done his job!

I agree about D1. I was guilty about expecting too much too soon. Plus I had to learn to let go of the resentment of his not wanting to help the team where I though he could best help us. I hope that he, first and foremost, takes care of his studies and becomes successful off the field then produces to the best of his abilities on the field.

the problem with these freshman (and j.c guys) vs. mississippi state is it is game one on national television. think about livas last year. he did nothing vs. hawaii. later in the year vs. new mexico state, san jose state, and l.s.u., he was a different guy. if he could performed against hawaii the way he performed later in the year, we win that game by two touchdowns. wish we had a central arkansas or southeastern first this year.

Good point. Come into the season not expecting much from a FR. If one blows up and has a stud year, then be very happy and count it as gain.

Salty? Not trying to be negative, just being realistic, but Beck wouldn't see the field for most D-I teams. He benefited from playing for a team with not much talent at the receiver position last year. He had a few solid punt returns, but he didn't do much as a receiver. That was a pretty salty drop in the end zone at the end of the 1st half at LSU. I'm not trying to bash Beck, and I don't expect much from any freshman, but I do think that Tuminello has more tools and will be better than Beck THIS season. That said, Beck is one of the better receivers we have, but that is not saying much.

And I think Beck is underrated. He is quick and can catch over the middle.
If he was 6'2, he would be very good.

I don't doubt the kid has all the "tools" to be a great WR. But, like I said before, until he gets actual playing time against bigger, faster, stronger players, it's all speculation IMO. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Tuminello scoring TD's as a true frosh, but I'm not going to be disappointed if we have to wait one more year to see him compete.

You can't be serious? He was playing against high schoolers. I'm not saying he isn't good, but to say he is better than Beck right now simply because he was able to perform so well against high school kids, half of whom could probably barely chew gum and walk at the same time, while Beck was playing against college men who've been through several years of college football weight, conditioning and skills training is ludicrous.

Now I'm not saying he's not good and he won't be better than Beck, but I don't think you can consider your statement accurate or realistic until he's played similar competition.

that isn't that surprising, but I am a little disappointed. Have you (or anyone else) gotten a first hand look at RP Stuart? I believe he is in Ruston for voluntary workouts.

I haven't seen him in person, but I heard he is Cangelosi's size. I plan on being over there Saturday for the last day of camp and I'll try to get a firsthand look at some of our players.

That's interesting, I'd like to hear his take on it. Some athletes are into alternative forms of tuning their bodies. I remember Hershal Walker only did stuff like push-ups, sit-ups, jump rope, etc.,... and it worked for him. I saw Tuminello and he looked more like a frat kid than a football player. I instantly thought he would be well-served by putting on some muscle. But, what do I know? He may be a cowboy!

I don't expect the coaches will ask him if he wants to go to the weight room. There will probably be a plan and a goal.

I don't doubt you're right, but if he's choosing not to take advantage of voluntary workouts now, I think it's safe to say that all those who are expecting him to contribute significantly, right now, might be disappointed.

I agree DD. I never expect ANY Fresh. to contribute immediately. Those who do are setting themselves up for disapointment. It can happen, but if it does,it's gravy.

IF the player decides to participate in the VOLUNTARY summer program, all aspects of the program suddenly become INVOLUNTARY. I can assure you that Houston as well as every other player is working very, very hard in the weight room.

As long as he can get seperation and catch the ball, he'll be just fine. I can't wait to see him on the field.

I wasn't basing my opinion on stats or competition, just seeing the two catch and run. I was more pointing out that a few posters seem to have Beck a little overrated.. And as far as Tuminello's size goes, Beck can't be much heavier than 175, and maybe 5'9'' with shoes on. I was just stating my opinion which is based on observation. We'll see come fall, or the next fall. Regardless, I'm not impressed with Beck and I think Tuminello looks to be better than Beck already.

incorrect...Houston is every inch of 6'2". I am 6"1" and he's taller than me.

as for his workouts....He has been working out and playing 7 on 7 with the team since he moved to campus. I'm not sure what his weight is right now....but I'd think 175-180 would be a good range. he's not afraid of the weight room...and will do whatever it takes to get better.

His QB will be Riley Dodge from Southlake Carroll. It is the best of the All-Star games in Texas because the game coincides with the annual THSCA Convention for Coaching Staffs. Over 16,000 coaches from across the state will attend. It's not a game you want to miss! It's a great honor for the kids and coaches.

Why the heck would a D1 recruit play in a HS game just a couple of weeks before camp starts?? Didn't he graduate in May? Dude, get over HS already; you got bigger fish to fry. I am not even going to mention the dangers of this stupid stunt; his future is set. No need to play hs ball any more. :furious3:

If you ever walk on the football field thinking you are going to get hurt, you've chosen the wrong sport. I believe we had more players hurt in practice last year than we did in games.

It may be a HS but it is still an All Star game and an honor.

Wasn't there a player last year who played in an All Star game right before camp started?
