Save yourself....

I figured that we TECH fans really need to start looking out for each other. So we'll start a thread of movies that we should avoid at ALL COST!!

So to start this thread out, SAVE YOURSELF from having to watch "Table for Three" It's about a new guy in town that is freshly single and needs a roommate. The only applicant with any sense was a horny, "perfect", VERY annoying couple that tries to C.B. (:icon_wink:) the guy with a relationship since they would lose their living arrangement and only "friend".

Do the dishes for a week, fold every bit of laundry, mop the floors to get yourself out of having to sit through this 2 hour NIGHTMARE of a movie. It really was the worst movie that I've ever seen. Lindsey slept through it (lucky dawg), but the other 2 girls that watched the whole thing just laughed at how pathetic this movie was.

The trailers were interesting and made the movie look like it had a lot of promise. BUT, it sucked... I mean really, half the dang theatre was ASLEEP by the time the movie was over. Heck, even I was nodding off. I was really, really disappointed. Maybe I missed something, but the story was about some random dude I don't remember ever being in the trailers. The first half-hour, at the least, was too random and confusing. I really had no idea what was going on or what the heck the story was.

Form your own opinion, but it isn't a movie I would even wait to come out for rental...

It was a long time ago but the last movie I walked out of was Starship Troopers. I thought that was terrible. I was in my mid 20's then I think. If I was a teenager I probably would have liked it more.

Dina Meyer (Dizzy Flores) and Denise Richards (Carmen Ibanez) were hot in that movie.
I like watching it, it is entertaining to me. I find something new to make fun of every time I watch it.

Plus, like I said, Dina Meyer was hot, especially in the shower scene.

Nothing against Clive Owen, but The International, Shoot 'Em Up, and Children of Men sucked.

Saw District 9, it was good.

Film snobs love CoM. The camera work is amazing and the tracking shot towards the end, in particular, has received universal praise from that community.

Agree most of Owen's movies have not been very good. Children of Men from what I recall was mildly entertaining.

I judge all movies I see to "The Perfect Storm". I sat through it and when the ship finally sank stood up and said "well thank god we can go home". Luckily I was with a friend and not the wife.

"Crossing Over" came close to surplanting the storm but the frequent shots of Alice Eve in the buff saved it.

i got forced into seeing it against my will. then in the first 30 seconds a dude got ripped in half and then there were lots of boobs. Boobs make movies cool. Then i watched it again and realized that it was not to be taken seriously at all and it was a satire. That made me love it even more. Then I realized what the big bad bug at the end actually looked like and it made it even greater.

But i totally get why some people hate it.

As someone else mentioned - the boobies are what make it...

Anyone remember HARDBODIES from about 85? - another D grade movie with excellent boobs....

The movie snobs may like this one but I have to put it on my worst ever list. Revolutionary Road, DiCaprio and Winslet together again. I kept wishing they would get on a ship, sink and drown. Absolutely as entertaining as watching paint dry, no check that I've enjoyed watching paint dry more. Not one redeaming quality in any of the characters or the script.

I really like most of Matt Damon's movies and this one had a high rating from the critics. So why not give it a try?

This movie sucked big time! To start off, the character he plays is irritating in how stupid he is and the mess he is getting himself into. At first you think the guy is just not wise to the ways of the world. Then you start to think he is stupid and eventually you figure out that he must have a mental problem. To top it off, while this guy is screwing up his and several other people's lives, they are playing whimsical comedic music in the background like it is some kind of farce. I barely stayed to watch the whole movie as it irritated me so much to watch someone screw up so bad!

As long as it is more interesting to watch than paint dry in the process, like the "revolution road" I mentioned earlier. I like Daniel Day Lewis as an actor so I thought it would be worth a watch. I also have "No Country For Old Men" on my DVR for some point. I would have watched it last week but "Shawshank Redemption" came on and I can't pass it up. Anyone else want to weigh in on "There Will Be Blood"?

it's good but certainly not a popcorn movie. one of those where you need to see it but only once. Daniel Day Lewis is great and deserved the Oscar but only because he plays crazy so well. No Country For Old Men is outstanding.

I liked No Country for Old Men but thought There Will be Blood was interesting at first but turned bad about half way through. I just can't see the purpose of Blood. No Country for Old Men was a bit bloody but I found it fascinating. It is one of the few movies with Woody Harelson is in that I will watch.

One Missed Call, Untraceable, Teeth, Jumper, Strange Wilderness, Harld & Kumar Escape from Gauntanamo Bay, The Life Before Her Eyes, Prom Night, What Happens in Vegas, Made of Honor, Deception, 88 Minutes, Four Christmases, etc. etc. etc.

This is 2008 releases alone...enjoy :D

What did you expect? It has Matt Dillon as a main character and the antagonist to boot. The only movie he's been in that he's good in was The Outsiders. Been on coattails ever since.

Completely agree. That is why I am angry at myself. I saw the previews once and got talked into seeing it by a friend. I figured maybe the action would be worth it, but no. Not even close.

Slap the friend. Then force them to go to an absolutely horrible movie. Watching Dillon is akin to waterboarding for me.

Bruno. I was expecting Borat with a gay fashion designer. It wasn't. I did not enjoy the flick in any way, shape, or form.

And I don't know who put No Country for Old Men on the avoid list. It is one of my Top 5 All Time Movies. The great story telling of Cormac McCarthy with the great direction of the Cohen Brothers. I love every moment of it.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you did not rent this to watch by yourself. If you were like me it was required viewing to spend a little time with your girl. And yes it was dumb.

Public Enemies was solid enough but with Michael Mann + Mobsters I had my expectations set to "Oscar worthy" and it didn't meet those.

Just saw Blind Side. Good movie about NFL rookie OL Michael Oher. The high school coach is the spittin' image of Derrick Dooley!! Looks and sounds almost just like him.

Correctamundo... we have Movie in PJ's night every Sunday night with the girl and her family. It was between 4 Christmases and some other movie that the girls picked out that makes them cry at the end. I don't know why they do that to themselves.

It wasn't that bad. A bit over the top, but still not that bad. saw it in Imax 3D. Visually impressive. The story....not so much. I don;t think the 3D added that much to it.

It might have been better in an Imax, still pointless in 3D though.

The story was funny to me, that's why I didn't find it too bad.

Saw Avatar and the visual effects were truly out of this world but the story line was really lame as stated above.

My guess is that Robert Downey Jr. should be very good in the part as he has had significant experience with opium derivatives which is supposed to be one of Holmes' things.:D

It was decent - not great but pretty good, I thought it sat the table for the next installment fairly well

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squekequel.

Disappointing. Had a lot of funny lines and such, but was overall boring. Acting was practically non-existent. Just an rather empty movie.

The 6 year old thought it was cool but not as good as Planet 51 and definitely not as good as Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs

Yes, I was surprised. It's Alvin and the Chipmunks. Guess I expect too much fromthe cartoons.

G Rated movies have done a great job lately of making them so that adults can get some enjoyment out ot them as well. Thanks for your review of this one. I'll stay away.
