I really really really hate Hawaii. We are going to see who hindrances those rude haka hopping riffraff come Sept 8. And props to Pat Hill just this once. Weakling my a**. Rustic Ruston my a**. This just cocks my pistol all the way back.
Relax, they have mainland envy and always have...once we hand their a$$ to them AGAIN in "rustic" Ruston, they'll call it a fluke (as they did last time with the great Timmy Chang). It's not the WAC that gives them the big bowl problems, it's the fluff OOC schedule they play.
Trust me, I will have an extremely wonderfull 2008 if we beat them, and ruin their bowl hopes...only team I would feel that way against. Again, trust me...they will expect what their jaded media types expect...a blow out....I know in my heart that Dooley will have a few extra special things for those media type to write about....:)

I hope Hawaii thinks the same way the writer of that column does. If they come into Ruston expecting to just show up and win, they have another thing coming. OU was talking a lot like the quotes in this article about Boise. Having no respect for your opponent is very dangerous. They forget the last time they came to Ruston they got their @$$ kicked.
Hawaii has the advantage in the game this year, they have a much better team than we do. BUT, it will be hot in September, early in the season, it will be a lot of travel for Hawaii, Tech will be fired up, and the new coaching staff will have this team playing 4 quarters, not the 2 we've been playing the last couple of years. Plus we've all seen the incredible home field advantage throughout the WAC. Those reasons plus being overlooked are great circumstances for an upset.
Re: Weaklings weigh down WAC
You are exactly right. It's not their conference that's holding them back - its the two I-AA teams they have on their schedule that's their downfall this year. It still pisses me off though. Can't help it. I get animated from time to time! That guy who wrote the article looks like he's had his share of poi though doesn't he? :icon_wink:

YES!! When I looked at that picture, the only thing that I could think was I'd hate to see the two creatures that made that baby. :sick2:
Dawgmatic, I'm not sure where you've been, but I nominate you for best new poster this summer. It says you've been a member since 2004, but I don't remember you posting alot.
Re: Weaklings weigh down WAC
What a douchbag. It's rare that I feel like I need to email a writer but this smug ash-hole needs to come down a couple notches.

A "problem" that could easily be rectified by a more robust OOC schedule - give me a break - they are whinning already.

What was the score last time UH came to 'rustic Ruston'??? It was 46-14 LaTech over Timmy Chang and the gang a couple years ago.
Look, UH has a great team this year and I'm looking forward to the game. I also recognize that UH is one of the best, if not the best, WAC teams this year. I hope you do us proud in a bowl game. But let's get off the high-horse, shall we? Every conference has a top and bottom. We've been at the top and bottom. Calling our team a weakling and placing blame on us for a bowl snub that hasn't even happened yet is just.... well... small.
When bowls start picking teams, I'll be pulling for UH to land a good one. But if the snub does come, you might want to take a look at those games against Northern Colorado and Charleston instead of games against your conference brethren.
Good luck this year.

Doc, thank you so much! That is truly a compliment since we have so many informed, bright and really hilarious posters here on our board! You are at the top of that list, btw. I always value what you have to say in your posts.
I've been right here, going to games and reading and listening and thinking and writing the occasional vituperative letter to editors when I got really pissed off. :) (Poi Boy may get one himself!)
Up until last year I've pretty much kept my opinions to myself and did not speak up while I sat here year after year and watched our entire athletic program go straight to hell. I internally questioned the path we were on, said nothing and just kept asking myself WHY WHY WHY...but trying to trust our administration saw the bigger picture for the path we were on! No more of that! I don't know everything but I'm smart enough to figure out this is our alma mater, our team, our money and we don't have to put up with that mess anymore. I see changes being made that we have needed for a very long time and I am very pleased with the direction this is taking - BUT there is so much more to be done - right here in Ruston! Ok. I'll jump down off my soapbox for now!
BTW, if I'm elected is there a prize that goes along with being best new poster of the summer? :icon_wink:
Re: Weaklings weigh down WAC
For the record, when Hawaii last came to Ruston, I believe Colt Brennan was their QB.

Re: Weaklings weigh down WAC
Here's my letter:
Dave,
The first mistake you make in your article is using one year to characterize a program. In 2005, Louisiana Tech was 7-4 (inlcuding a thumping of a Colt Brennan led Hawaii in Ruston). In 2004, Louisiana Tech was 6-6 while playing Miami, Auburn, and Tennessee. In 2003 and 2004, Tech lost VERY close games to Hawaii (on on the island and one in Ruston). In 2004 and 2005, Tech beat a ranked Fresno team that was favored to win the conference in both seasons. I don't know what you consider "figuring into the equation at the top of the WAC standings", but it seems to me that the 2004 and 2005 Tech teams certianly did that.
Your second mistake is blaming the "WAC Weaklings" for Hawaii's SOS. With two FCS schools on the schedule, Hawaii fans have to look no further than Herman Frazier when looking for someone to blame for Hawaii's SOS. Further, if Hawaii (a program that has consistently shown an inability to play well off of the island) does not go undefeated, they'll be back in the Hula bowl again. You seem to be counting your chickens before they've hatched.
Last year was certainly a down year for Louisiana Tech, but it shows an astounding historical ignorance to call Louisiana Tech one of the bottom third programs in the WAC. As far as program strength goes, Louisiana Tech would certinaly rank ahead of Idaho, USU, SJSU, and NMSU. I case could also be made for putting Nevada in that list. Regardless, Tech is clearly a middle-of-the-road program in the WAC. They've achieved this with a much smaller budget than the top of the WAC. But, our budget is getting a boost of 1.5 million in 2008 and an additional 1.5 million in 2009 (3 million over 3 years). If NOTHING ELSE CHANGES, those budgetary increases will put Louisiana Tech's budget, you guessed it, right in the middle of the WAC teams.
I emplore you to do a little research before writing your columns. Further, the terms like "Little Three" and "rustic Ruston" just make you look petty and childish. Have you ever been to "rustic Ruston"? Or, are you just striving to write an excuse laden homer article? Before you blame the "weaklings" you should point your investigative lens (I certainly hope you're picking up on the sarcasm here) at Herman Frazier and the schedule he put together.
Thanks,
Jonathan Nida
