Tech Supporter's Daughter Injured in Bus Accident
Heard in church today, that a Youth Group from First Baptist Church in Shreveport was involved in a bus accident on a Youth Trip, traveling thru Mississippi. 3 students were air-lifted to area hospitals-one youth was the daughter of Malcom Murchison. Please keep all these young people and their families in your prayers.
Re: Tech Supporter's Daughter Injured in Bus Accident
Prayers go out from BR. Some things cannot be understood. At times like this, there is no "why". There is only "is". Malcolm hosted this youth group at the Independence Bowl tail gating.
Re: Tech Supporter's Daughter Injured in Bus Accident
Yes, this was a terrible accident where at least one 14 year old was killed. There are at least 23 that are injured. Please be praying for these families and those that are injured.

Yes, this is tragic. Hit the knees tonight fellow Dawgs, a couple more may not make it. Hug your kids, call your kids, kids call your parents........life goes in an instant

Dirtylegacy had several friends on this trip. One has just finished having brain surgery to relieve the swelling and another is going under the knife now for the same thing. Terrible tragedy.

Malcolm sent this out to a wide e-mail list, so I don't think it is private and he wouldn't mind sharing--- especially if it gets more prayer warriors praying for these young men and women and their families. I am fortunate to work with a lot of open Christians and we have the word spreading in BR.
Dear Friends and Family -
By now many of you know of the terrible accident near Meridian MS yesterday AM involving the FBC S'port Youth Group traveling to Youth Camp in Macon GA. Our daughter, Lauren Murchison was one of three children pinned under the bus after a tire blew out and the bus rolled off of I-20. God was watching over them as a bus load of National Guard soldiers was behind the bus, picked it up and the medics in the Guard Unit began triage for the bus riders and reportedly called in the medical flight that brought Lauren and her friend Maggie Lee Henson to the University Medical Center Children's hospital in Jackson MS. God was there with the soldiers and our children.
Maggie Lee is in very critical condition, in a comma with lung and heart complications from the contusions she experienced. Please keep her and her family, Dad John, Mom Jenny and Brother Jack, in your prayers. She has shown encouraging signs of healing over night and we know it is God and the prayers all are offering up for her. Please pray for her. Brandon Uartes (spelling?) passed away in Meridian yesterday - please pray for his Mom and Dad. Youth Minister Jason Matlack is still in hospital in Meridian. Sarah Smith was brought to UMC but her Mom says she will be ok - skull fracture.
Lauren is looking better than when I first arrived at the hospital yesterday at 1 pm (thanks to Tammy and Jeff Lowe who flew John Henson and me to Jackson and Brandon's parents and others to Meridian). Lauren is to have surgery today for a severly broken femur and clavicle - she has facial lacerations and fractures - primarily on her left side. She has no signs of brain injury but is on a ventilator due to severe brusing of her lungs. The Doctors say she will be ok - her problems are bones that will heal. She is responsive (to particularly confusing Doctor's thumbs up/thumbs down questions that I could not have answered). She is sedated - the Dr.'s say to get her rested for surgery today. The Doctors and Nurses here are wonderful - we are blessed to be here at UMC.
I have to go now - and to say thanks to all of you who have helped and reached out to us will take time that is not available right now. Know that we appreciate each and every one of you and we love you.
"Thank God because he's good, because his love never quits. Tell the world, Israel" Psalm 118:1-2

Re: Tech Supporter's Daughter Injured in Bus Accident
Just wanted to take a second to thank some HEROES that helped out during this accident.
There were some National Guard personnel that were behind the crash. The rushed out of their bus, ran to the overturned bus and actually rolled the bus back onto 4 wheels so that they could get the kids out and attend to their wounds. These soldiers set up a triage to give the kids some immediate medical attention.
Thank you soldiers and my prayers with the kids and their families, including Malcolm.
