I heard it too and thought the same thing. Twice he said that he was unhappy with the way people were being treated in the coaching ranks. You could definitely tell that he was talking about more than just what happened with Sloan.

Mike and Mike didn't ask him what he meant with that additional comment, because I am not sure they have a clue what he meant by "here"
I took it as his displeasure with the Rupp firing. I don't want to really rehash that because there are other threads, but I thought the comment and the venting publicly was worth talking about.
I just hope that he supports the new coach, because Karl can be very important to our program, not just in his donations.
If someone heard the whole interview and they prefaced something that I missed let me know. I dont want to take anything out of context.
I heard them mention that he was going to be on but i had to go in to work. I hope this situation doesn't cause a rift between Malone and Tech.

Unfortunately this could have been somewhat avoided (because you never can really avoid stuff like this) if Karl would have agreed to meet with the AD and those making the decision to keep or dismiss Rupp when the opportunities were presented...

I agree, Dwayne, but it also could have been avoided if the coaches weren't originally told that they would be retained next year. To be told your job is safe and then three weeks later be fired is not a very professional way of handling things, and that's probably what Karl is most upset about.

Mike and Mike said that Malone's full interview will be on their podcast later this afternoon. That is usually on their page at ESPN.com on the same day as the original broadcast. I heard part of his comments, but did not get to listen to the whole thing.
Some of this is like a soap opera. Like the old saying goes, "winning solves a lot of probems." We just need to win.

I agree that administration handled this very poorly, if that is what occurred. To me that has nothing to do with Malone. Also, Malone's statement could have covered last 7-10 years here at Tech, not just focus on most recent event. So I did not take it like some of you did that comment was only for last 3-4 weeks.

I agree 100% with the hire part of your post, but I think we need Karl as much as we needed a new HC. Coaches come and go. Alums like Karl don't come around all that often. It's a short list. (Bradshaw and him are pretty much the list) La. Tech needs him for the long haul.
