Hate to see another dawg go down this way. I imagine he may be finished or very close to it.

Y'all know he went to Florida right?;)

Yeah, but he earned his chops as a Bulldog. I always wondered, but have never heard how lucrative are these injury settlements?

It is negotiated based upon how many game checks are expected to be lost. I.e. how long the injury is expected to last.

How does one get hurt as a back-up QB? Did he cut his finger on the clipboard?

Backups actually play a lot in the preseason. Actually Driskel was beat out by rookie Ryan Finley and asked to play other positions. He was playing wide receiver at the end of camp. This is probably just their way of cutting ties with him now instead of keeping him on IR all season...since they know that they don't want to keep him around long-term. His best bet is to find someone who wants to use him like the Saints use Taysom Hill.

Good idea actually.

I could see it even being the Saints next year in the event they opt to make Taysom the full time backup QB.

The Saints might need Driskell this year pending Brees thumb results.
Re: Driskel Out on Injury Settlement
The Taysom Hill stuff is getting a little out of hand. To think that teams need a guy like him is a little silly. He’s a special teamer with a decent arm and Sean Payton is his coach. That only works very situationally. Jeff is a 6’4 233 with mobility. He isn’t going to run kicks back or make someone miss on a jet sweep.

Taysom will end up starting in New Orleans if Drew Brees has a broken thumb. Teddy Bridgewater did not look up to the task Sunday. To say that Taysom Hill is just some special teamer is silly at best. He is an amazing raw athlete who was hurt the majority of his college football career. The guy can do everything.

The OL got dominated. Bridgewater will be the starter. Taysom is the back-up for about 4 positions. He's too valuable to make the starter if Drew is out for a long time. I think it's more likely that they'll bring somebody else in if Teddy can't get it done. Really rough 4 game stretch to start the season.

Yeah, I was super disappointed with the OL yesterday. They are partly to blame for the Brees injury. I just don't see us taking on a fourth QB if Teddy B don't work out. We already paid a fortune for him.
