No Away games at Rice/UNT. Play UAB/MTSU twice
Re: No Away games at Rice/UNT. Play UAB/MTSU twice
And bad for alumni engagement and bad for travel expenses. Also bad for Rice and UNT's ticket sales.
Playing at Rice and at UNT every year should be demanded by McClelland. Those are the 2 most important conference road games for our institution, but we won't play them this year.

That's not who we are

Yea, the 100 Tech fans that go to the North Texas/Tech basketball game are going to be real pissed.

I've never been to the Super Pit, but we bring a lot more fans than that to Rice, at least triple that.

Why? Because they're close to our alumni bases, and generally road wins?

I'd say because of the proximity to alumni bases.

Part of our AD's job is to feel the pulse of Tech's fan base. It's without a doubt his weakest job skill. Insisting on playing away games in our two largest markets outside of Louisiana is a given. It was also a given to play our game vs. Arkansas in Little Rock last year, but he never even responded to questions on why he moved it. The list of examples of his indifference toward our fan base is long.

Probably about 98% of our alumni leave Ruston after graduating, and then many of our diehards wonder why our support is what it is. Where are they going? Where the money is. They leave and become disconnected. Sometimes Tech has to take the show to them instead of expecting them to support something miles and miles away in Ruston.
Then where are we trying to recruit students to grow enrollment because Louisiana doesn't produce enough qualified high school grads?
Maximizing exposure in those two markets and creating opportunities to build alumni support and recruit top students in those areas are very important to Tech's future.

I imagine it has to have a dent in recruiting. The more games we play in Dallas/Houston, the easier to attract & talk with potential recruits.

When LG assumes his new C-USA committee assignment maybe he can talk some sense into these hired guns at the conference office who recommend these travel-expensive arrangements and ideas.

As long as theres no transparency, it doesnt really matter what "rules" they make. (Even with transparency it doesnt really matter but at least we'll know why we were screwed)
Just funny that the year we dont have two extra road wins (probably), the committee makes them more valuable.

Actually - those games would have meant the same - if we can pick up road wins at UAB/MTSU. Rice/UAB cancel each other out in RPI terms - maybe not on the court.
