Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map
Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map
I see an indoor practice facility on that plan.
Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map
Where can we see a complete master plan map?
Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map
Awesome!
1. looks like an Indoor Practice Facility
2. looks like a new Outdoor Track & Field facility
3-4. look like new intramural fields
5. looks like some sort of intramural facility
6-7. look like new classrooms maybe?
8, 9, & 15. look like parking garages
10. looks like a Student Center renovation
11-14. look like possible new student housing?
16. is Tech Pointe expansion
17. is the business building annex
18. is new Integrated Engineering & Science Building
There's also building that doesn't have a number where the old CAB was.
Bulldog Drive is gone.
The old Nat is gone.
The old west campus dorms are all gone.
The old residential life building (Harris Hall?) is gone.
Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map
-Best part is the old ugly bookstore is gone. Instead of a small enclosed quad, we are making a long grassy lawn from Keeny down to Tech drive. Wisteria lane will be cut off now at the Ropp center.
-A lot more greenspace and trees. Hopefully they are planning for the future and the trees will be oak trees. They might be small when planted, but it will be worth it in a century time.
-Far fewer parking lots. The guesses about Parking garages seem correct then. We are losing Hale parking lot, Tolliver parking lot, west dorms parking lots, GTM parking lot (between BTM and Ropp), and all the gravel parking lots.
-Looks like the school is still trying to get rid of the Pike and Sigma Nu houses. Or least they don't appear on the plan as a supposed parking garage is on those spots.
-Also hopefully we will get to see how the new buildings will be designed. If they are building new student housing near Dudley, Aswell, Howard, etc. They better match the designs of those buildings. Same goes for the buildings next to Memorial Gym, Hale hall, and University hall.
Overall, I like it. The campus will be much prettier. Less ugly parking lots, lots more greenspace and trees, a more walkable campus, and more buildings hopefully that match the classical style of our older buildings.

It's not included on the Master Plan, but I'm told that George T. Madison Hall and Carson Taylor Hall will be renovated in the future. There is plenty of space, but the space can be better utilized for the programs in those buildings. Also, the speech and audiology program space will expand to meet the needs of the clinical part of the Audiology Doctorate program.
There is also talk of doubling the size of A.E. Phillips School.

both GTM & Carson Taylor really could use some renovations

Joe Aillet Stadium area:
1. looks like an Indoor Practice Facility (It definitely looks big enough to house an entire football field)
2. looks like a new Outdoor Track & Field facility
3-4. look like new intramural fields (#3 looks like a new intramural soccer field, #4 looks like the long-planned intramural fields west of Tech Drive...7 fields with 3 possibly convertible to two intramural baseball/softball fields.)
It looks like the parking lot around the stadium will be redone with trees lining different sections of the lot. A new road will be constructed between the parking lots and Tech Drive, since Bulldog Drive will be removed.
Main Campus:
5. looks like some sort of intramural facility
6-7. look like new classrooms maybe? (It wouldn't surprise me if one of these buildings is a new Speech and Audiology Building. Tech has a good Audiology Doctorate program, and more space is needed for the clinical portion of the program. Most, if not all, of the speech and audiology programs are housed in Robinson Hall. There are plans for a new $9 million Speech and Audiology Building according to some of the documents I've seen on the Louisiana Board of Regents website.)
8, 9, & 15. look like parking garages (The location of these facilities replace current parking lots. Also of note is that the Early Childhood Education Center behind Nethken Hall is gone due to a possible parking garage.)
10. looks like a Student Center renovation
11-14. look like possible new student housing? (Cottingham, Mitchell, Richardson, Hutcheson, Jenkins, and McFarland Halls will be demolished to make way for some new intramural fields, so I assume new student housing will be constructed on the south part of the campus where current student housing exists.)
16. is Tech Pointe expansion
17. is the business building annex (Construction of the College of Business Building expansion is scheduled to start this Spring.)
18. is new Integrated Engineering & Science Building (Tech will meet with an architectural firm out of Shreveport this month to discuss the design of the building. Once this building is finished, Bogard Hall will be renovated.)
There's also building that doesn't have a number where the old CAB was.
Bulldog Drive is gone.
The old Nat is gone.
The old west campus dorms are all gone.
The old residential life building (Harris Hall?) is gone.

That could be in the works in a few years. There is a proposal for a Wyly Tower/Prescott Library Renovation with the Louisiana Board of Regents as a future project. The project might not happen until FYs 2016-17 & 2017-18, but the price tag for the renovation is about $46.6 million.
Re: Dr. Guice Blog with Campus Master Plan Map
I made a Side-by-side comparison to google maps. Can't wait for the official release of the master plan.
