"Athletic Director Tommy McClelland confirmed to The News-Star Tuesday morning the extension requests for the both coaches that he anticipated will be approved by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors at their monthly meeting Thursday in Baton Rouge."
Yes, contract or new hire announcements ALWAYS contain the need for the UL System rubber stamp. I don't ever remember not reading it as part of the announcement or reading that the request was denied by the UL System.
Our AD is would be embarrassed in the hole if he was playing Texas Holdem'.

It is worse than surmised. Through 2023 at 400K. TMac must be getting kickbacks....
Re: 2019-2020 Dunkin' Dawgs Schedule
He must be on drugs. And Guice is allowing this madness?
Re: 2019-2020 Dunkin' Dawgs Schedule
Those of us who thought “Guice gets it” must have been on drugs.
Re: 2019-2020 Dunkin' Dawgs Schedule
FWIW this horrible news being first reported by other sources is not a big deal unless the great scoop ($hit) seekers actually question the bad moves.

Guilty.
At this point it is clear he's just as lost as everyone else.

Not according to BTB or TNS. They were the first to bring us the great news and tell us everything is good and we have a great AD.

So... what is your position here? We are getting a bargain and are wise to extend?

Looking at the pay. I know a lot of people want us to be number 1. I don’t see it that way. In this league, we should pay market prices and go all in on facilities. When the coach does something, then you bump it up to the higher levels to keep the lower quality bigger conference teams away as long as you can.
The pay to Konkol is appropriate (even though he isn’t meeting expectations). This isn’t a “we get what we pay for” situation. No way we get somebody with a substantially better resume than what Konkol came in with by shelling out $750k. Now, was he a bad pick? Yes. What’s ridiculous about Konkol is the extensions.
UTSA, Charlotte, and MTSU, you gotta be kidding me. WKU - I get it. ODU - good for you. Good for us being middle of the pack; stop it with the extensions.
Question: why is Tommy doing this? Is he taking the calculated risk that Konkol has had a run of bad luck and is way under valued? If so, I’ll have what he’s having. We are still unacceptably mediocre with the breaks going our way. Plus some of the breaks aren’t going our way for a reason. OR does Tommy think the current product is acceptable? I hope it’s the former. Both are unacceptable.

I was trying to not have a position and simply offer perspective. Personally, I would not have extended the contract, but at the same time, he would not be on a hot seat either. The truth is, if we ever have MTSU's recent success, he will be out the door anyway, making $3 million a year like Kermit Davis. So basically you have to decide, have we been close enough to breaking through to keep giving this guy a chance, or do we blow it up, have 10 guys transfer out, hire a brand new coach at the same pay, start from literal scratch, and roll the dice on the next 5 years with an unproven coach. I would certainly lean much more toward the former than the latter, especially given the unusual losses of Joniah, Jean, and Christon over the last two seasons.

Sounds reasonable to me. I think it is ridiculous to give an unearned extension; however, someone I respect says that coaches want to be able to claim to recruits that they will be there for the player’s entire career. I guess so....
I wouldn’t have fired him last year, even after the craptastic schedule and the transfer of AD. But, I definitely think he should be on the hot seat this year. We are 4 years in and haven’t come close to smelling a legitimate postseason game. He has 8 or 9 upperclassmen; if he comes back with another BS schedule and no post season, he should be gone.
