Correct - even from the PARISH side of things
Plus the tension/force on a project of 90,000 sq ft of "fill" would require major footings and engineering to withstand and hold up to 1,000+ trains annually passing within 50 ft of the project
Exe's & Oh's seems to forget what was the main demise of the old CAB building....

I lived in the Park Place apartments right over the tracks from the CAB. When I moved in they were only a few years old. When I graduated 3 years later the paint was cracked in the corners of the walls from the constant vibration.

Enclosing and charging for an area where one of the draws is to not pay to watch the game?

Exactly! Most of them are students anyway who want to partake in a cold one. Some here will remember BVDV shutting down the area for a period of time. When he got called on it by some fans he lied and said the railroad made us do it.

Dumb decision. Right field is one of the best, original traditions in athletics that Tech has. What other school has something similar to that? Students just need to be responsible there, hopefully IFC can make sure that some of the antics won't happen again, and everyone can keep having fun. Students are not going to attend games if they can't use that area like they normally do.

Our administration has not shown that student attendance is important to them in football or MBB so them pulling a stunt like BVDV did is not out of the question.

What about student attendance, other than them not caring to show up on their own?

Did you follow football and what happened?
First the closed off the street and made them walk into Hideaway Park. Then they told the students they might get a ticket for drinking and that it would probably be best if they didn't drink while tailgating at Hideaway.
The administration screwed this up and didn't even try to fix it unless you consider our Admin making an embarrassing attempt to sit among the students late in the year.

I am not talking about involving the railroad, actually this plan would leave the railroad out of the picture completely. Just erect a fence along the railroad right of way separating us from them. Then, utilize the space between that fence and our outfield wall whether it be a 30' strip, a 50' strip, or whatever. Just fill in between that fence and a wall built that abuts our outfield fence or else one built along its perimeter, only needs to be about 6' high or less, just high enough enabling a seated person to see over the fence. We dont need to care about what happens to spill dirt that falls over on the rr right of way and they wont care either. We just need one wall, whatever length desired, and the fill dirt wont cause enough pressure against it to cause any problem. Entry would need to be set around the apartments. This is a no brainer.

I remember that. But I didn't care about it. They just hung around their frat houses and got tipsy there rather than in the park.
Re: When did Tech baseball games get this crazy?
I think it had little effect on student attendance. And thats got also got nothing to do with MBB. Main reasons being how the seasons panned out with both sports.
I hope the baseball team continues winning and that the students/fans realize it.

They are not available through the ticket office. If anybody knows somebody, please let me know.

It had a huge effect on student attendance and a 30plus year tradition of tailgating around the TAC. Students have never consistently attended MBB. Most of that is the basketball culture of the south, but our admin doesn't even try to build student attendance.
