Dorms: Graham vs Cottingham
I'm a presidential scholar who will be majoring in engineering. Cottingham is more exclusive and has much larger rooms, but I've been told that Graham is practically essential for incoming engineering students. What would you recommend? How are the people in each dorm?

Some of my best college memories come from Cottingham.

I'm in your situation, only a senior. I lived in Graham for two years. The best thing about Graham is that all the other freshmen engineers are there (plus a few sophomores) so if you need a help on any type of problem, it's literally one knock away.
This can be said of most of the dorms, but Graham has a certain comradery. And since it's with the other engineering students, that's why I'd really encourage you to go to Graham.

I'm so ancient I lived in Graham in 1969 when it was a women's dorm. I knew it was turned to a men's dorm at some point, but is it now officially a men's engineering dorm, or it's just morphed into such? I'd love to tour it and see if there's anything I would recognize. Would be nice if I could recognize it, but after all these years I would hope it's changed some at least. Green walls, anyone?

Been painted since I moved out. Officially men's engineering. I did find a date from 1964 carved into one of my walls.
Re: Dorms: Graham vs Cottingham
I stayed in Richardson (duplicate of Cottingham) when I was a freshman back in '65. Very large rooms. Only problem was we had three guys in each room. Graham is much closer to class rooms as was all the women's dorms back in the day. I have never been in Graham but I would recommend it based on it being closer to central campus - classes, library, bookstore, Student Center and Tolliver. That is unless you just need the exercise.

Was that the room next to the laundry and women's restroom?

Last room on the tech drive side. We were close to a men's shower (where I found a bearded fellow eating cheerios at 3am once). It was a room of rich tradition!

Word! First to pile out when Cott caught on fire, too.
