So, even though he was CUSA "Player of the Year" in 2016, Ryan Higgins didn't make the All-Time Joe Aillet Stadium Team.
Jason Martin was left off too.

That's pretty bad to leave off a conference POTY.
I really like that they tried to involve the fans, but I think this task was a bit overwhelming. 70 nominees for 18 spots. Way too many choices for the fans. I think the committee probably should've picked 45 of the selections and then given the fans 10 finalists to select the final 5 additions. They probably would've gotten a much better response that way, too.

Hopefully there will be an honorable mention for the greatest single rushing performance by a Bulldog in The Joe.

I thought Daniel Porter had that record. Maybe his was not in the JOE.

Porter is second on the carer list and tenth on the season list but not in the top ten on the game list.

I had forgotten Mighty Moats had his 250+ games back to back.

Interesting list. Would have been cool to release them daily leading up to the first game.

Yesterday at Tyler Lee for the Beast Texas Football Academy, where former NFL QB Luke McCown spoke to campers. Gotta love the shirt he chose to wear in front of these E.TX QB's.... Tech Top 50 out promoting his school not his NFL team(s). Way to go Luke.

Summer is here!
So I wanted to bump this thread to list some of the best players from the opposition to ever play in JAS. What surprised me is how many I found played for UTA back in the 70s before they gave up football.
All played in the NFL with the exception of Dewalt, who was a star QB in the CFL; Chang, who broke the NCAA career passing record; and Harrell, who was drafted by the Dolphins but chose to play in the CFL when the money was similar. I tried to stick to players who made an impact at both levels or had some longevity in the NFL. Change, Dewalt, Harrell and the UTEP players are the exceptions. I added the UTEP players because both appear to be headed to long NFL careers. Also, Files was one of the better O lineman Tech faced in the 70s. He was drafted by the Steelers, but injuries cut his career short. This is by no means a complete list. Am I missing someone? Also, this list can be updated in a couple of years to reflect those Mississippi State defenders who we saw in 2017.
UCF (Dante Culpepper 95-98)
Southern Miss (Brett Favre 87-90; Jamie Collins 09-12; Michael Dyson 87-90; Ray Guy 70-72);
UTA (Dexter Bussey 72-73; Roy Dewalt 78-79; Derrick Jensen 76 -77; Cliff Odom 79; Tim McKyer 82-85);
UL-Lafayette (Brian Mitchell 86-89; Orlando Thomas 91-94; Peanut Tillman 99-02; Jake Delhomme 93-96; Brandon Stokley 94-98);
ULM (Stan Humphries 84-87; Doug Pederson 87-90; Marty Booker 95-98; Steve Foley 94-97);
McNeese (Rusty Guilbeaux 78-81; Leonard Smith 79-82; Buford Jordan 80-83; Stephen Starring 79-82; James Files 72-75).
Arkansas State (Calvin Harrell 69-71)
Nevada (Colin Kaepernick 07-10; Virgil Green 07-10; Rishard Matthews 10-11; Brandon Marshall 07-10)
Fresno State (Logan Mankins 01-04; Bernard Berrian 00-03; James Sanders 01-04; Richard Marshall 02-05; Tyrone Culver 02-05; Bear Pascoe 05-08; Chris Carter 07-10)
MVSU (Jerry Rice 81-84)
Boise State (Doug Martin 08-11; Kyle Wilson 06-09; Ryan Clady 04-07; Daryn Colledge 02-05; Orlando Scandrick 04-07; Austin Pettis 06-10)
Hawaii (Travis LaBoy 00-03; Isaac Sapoaga 00-03; Samson Satele 03-06; Greg Salas 07-10; Timmy Chang 00-03)
Rice (Vance McDonald 09-12; Ryan Pontbriand 99-02; Luke Wilson 09-12)
Tulsa (Barry Minter 88-92; Gus Frerotte 89-93)
Northern Illinois (LeShon Johnson 90-93)
UTEP (Will Hernandez 14-17; Aaron Jones 13-16)
Utah State (Bobby Wagner 08-11; Robert Turbin 07-11)
SJSU (Dwight Lowery 06-07; James Jones 03-06)
A few more notes: Ryan Matthews was on the 2008 Fresno State team but was out with an injury when the two teams played in JAS that year. Derek Car was on Fresno's 2010 team but did not see action that year. Bill Bergey finished his career at Arkansas State in 1968, but his last game in Ruston was in 1967 in one of the last games at Tech Stadium.

Yeah. Rice is a given. That's why I overlooked it! Added it to the list.

Culpepper in '98?
Timmy Chang doesn't have the NFL career, but his college stats are impressive.
