Shreveport: DirectTV, Dish, or Cable...and why?
We just moved into our house and I'm trying to decide what service to go with. I've only ever had cable and, apart from horrid customer service, I've been pleased. We don't need a phone, but we'd like to get internet and TV. The internet should be able to handle the occasional streamed movie, but nothing more than that (no online gaming or anything of that sort).
Just looking for the opinions of some locals.
Thanks.

I would recommend DISH but after dealing with their customer service I can't give them approval. As far as channels go I love it.

I have Comcast. Internet speed is never consistent but my experience with their cable has been ok. Other than the fact that anything you need to go "in-store" for, make sure you are packin'. The main location is in the heart of the ghetto and I would rather have a tooth pulled while waiting in line at the DMV than go there for anything.

Find the best deal.... DVR is a must. I'm with DirecTV. I like it, but it's very overpriced for me. I'm locked into contract for 1 more year, then it's prolly back to cable for me. I lived in Bossier and had SuddenLink and not Comcast, so I can't speak for that company. But if or when we get AT&T U-verse, I'll drop everyone to get that service. It's bad ass.

I've had Directv since 1998 and love it - maybe slightly overpriced to some, but their service backs it up - if I had a receiver go down, another one was sitting at my house the next day -
The biggest advantage is IF I have power, I have TV...
And living where I live that's a bog deal...

Dwayne, do you bundle your internet with DirectTV? I'm okay with their programming, but I've never had DSL and I'm not sure about its speed.

DirectTV is attractive as they include NFL Sunday Ticket FREE this season...for some reason, my wife doesn't quite appreciate that benefit.

No - I'm in the boonies and use a Verizon air card...
Even in Minden I just got DSL through ATT on the minimum land line package....

I have been with DirectTV since 1998 in Virginia and now Bossier. I would never go back to cable. My parents have Dish and I don't like it nearly as well. Any time we have had problems with DirectTV such as a box dying, it has been addressed very quickly. It is more expensive then Dish though.
